Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

The law of commandments contained in ordinances.

The law of ordinances are not the 10 commandments.

Heb 9:1 Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.

Heb 9:9-11
9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; 10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. 11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

Ordinances were always referring to the cerimonial laws.

The Ten Commandments were written by the finger of God on tables of stone, representing their permanent and immutable nature. Exodus 31:18
In contrast, the law of ordinances was the "handwriting of Moses," recorded with ink on parchment in a book.
The moral law of Ten Commandments is holy, spiritual, and just, revealing the principles of righteousness that are binding for all mankind across all ages Romans 7:12. Ordinances were "carnal" and "shadowy," consisting of meats, drinks, and various washings designed to point forward to Christ's sacrifice
Hebrews 9:10
Hebrews 10:1

While the Ten Commandments are as unchangeable as God’s throne and remain in full force as long as heaven and earth exist, the law of ordinances was temporary Matthew 5:17-18. The ceremonial ordinances were abolished and "nailed to the cross" when Christ, the antitype, died for the sins of the world
Colossians 2:14-17
Ephesians 2:15.

The apostle James calls the moral law the "royal law" and the "law of liberty," stating that even offending in one point makes a person guilty of all James 2:8-11 This is entirely separate from the "handwriting of ordinances" which Paul explains was "against us" and was blotted out Colossians 2:14.

"Against Us": .....

The Ten Commandments are for man’s benefit and were never "against" him; for example, the Sabbath was made specifically for man's blessing Mark 2:27.
Conversely, the specific ceremonial sabbaths and feast days connected to the ritual system are described as a burden or "against" the people because they were part of a typical system that met its end in Christ Colossians 2:14-17..

Prove that the law of ordinances are the 10 commandments. ????
Believe what you like. When I meet Jesus, I will be boasting of what He has done, not how well I obeyed the 10 commandments. You ignore the simple and clear word of God and put His wonderful grace back under the law. Your choice. Your loss.

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

John 14:15

“He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me.”

John 14:21

“If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word.”

John 14:23

“If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love; even as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love.”

John 15:10

“teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you.”

Matthew 28:20

“Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do the things which I say?”

Luke 6:46

Gen 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

The 7th day the sabbath day applies to the creation of this earth.

It is a physical sabbath.

Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates.

Mat 12:1 At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.
Mat 12:2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.
Mat 12:3 But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;
Mat 12:4 How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?

Mat 12:7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
Mat 12:8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

Mat 12:10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
Mat 12:11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
Mat 12:12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

The Jews had to obey the sabbath day to do no work on that day.

But the work they could not do was if it was work that had to do with physical prosperity not being a necessity.

The disciples ate of the corn when they went through the field.

And Jesus healed on the sabbath day.

Because love and helping with needs which is love never takes a day off.

They could work on the sabbath if it had to do with helping people with their needs or their own needs.

But they could not work if it had to do with personal prosperity that was not a necessity.

The man picking up sticks was laboring for something that was personal prosperity that did not support the needs of people.

And not an urgency that he had to do it on the sabbath day that was essential.

Obviously those sticks was not a necessity.

Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Col 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Joh 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
Joh 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Isa 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

Rev 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

Luk 17:20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
Luk 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
Heb 11:14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
Heb 11:16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

Jesus took the physical ordinances of Israel out of the way nailing them to His cross for they were contrary to us for they had no bearing on spiritual salvation.

Which includes the physical sabbath day being taken out of the way.

The physical sabbath is taken out of the way applies to this earth.

Jesus went away to prepare a place for the saints the new earth and heaven.

Which the kingdom of God is within the saints.

And they are strangers and pilgrims on earth.

So they belong to that new earth so they go by a spiritual sabbath and not the physical sabbath that applies to this earth.

Isa 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
Isa 28:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
Isa 28:12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

When a person receives the Holy Spirit that is their rest and the refreshing.

The Old Testament a physical covenant this earth.

The New Testament a spiritual covenant the new earth.
Here is the way (Colossians 2:16-17) reads when you remove the translator added words and letters:

2:16 …..Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holiday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath day……

2:17…….which are a shadow of things to come…..but the body of Christ.

We can simplify the meaning thus:

Let no one judge you except the “Body of Christ”!

The Sabbath is now singular and the folks judging are not pagan critics…..but the Church itself.

Without the translator’s additions it changes the meaning somewhat……..

The changes in the original manuscript are generally italicized in your Bibles…….the KJV being the most notable.

Fine, live as an Israelite under the law. Just don't expect not to be judged as one under the law. That means that you will die in your sins.

You are obviously ignorant of the New Covenant. I suggest that you read the whole of the New Testament. Then accept Christ as Saviour and Lord. Then you will be born again. Then God will not judge you as one under the law, but according to who you are in Christ.

Jesus fulfilled all the Levitical ceremonies in His coming - sacrificing of animals, High Priest, Temple of God, etc. These were all shadows of His coming. Once He fulfilled all of these during the final week of the 70 weeks of prophecy in Daniel 9, they were done away with, thrown down. Their earthly importance was not longer and their mission was fulfilled. However, God's 10 commandments, His moral law is NOT a type and shadow to be done away with. They reflect God's character - His being and they will always remain.

“I will put My law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”

Jeremiah 31:33

“I will put My laws into their mind, and I will also write them on their heart. I will be their God, and they will be My people.”

Hebrews 8:10

“I will put My laws on their heart, and I will also write them on their mind.”

Hebrews 10:16

“You are shown to be a letter of Christ… written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tablets of stone, but in tablets that are hearts of flesh.”

Okay, best wishes.

I am not sure that I could quote the 10 commandments accurately. That's how much they matter to me. However, I am led by the Spirit.
It is written on the heart.

It is about the broad principles of love that the 10 commandments sum up.

Joh 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

Rom 13:9-10
9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

1Ti 1:5 Now the end (final result) of the commandment is charity (love) out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

Love is the fulfilling of the law.

As a born again person you are not immune to selfishness and sin. We still need to choose what is right,
But by choosing to walk in the Spirit you choose to love and do what is pure and holy. God gives the power but we need to choose it. The law reveals what is right and wrong.

The Holy Spirit can not convict you of sin if you do not acknowledge it as sin.

The law does not make us right or wrong it reveals it. We choose to follow God or not.

I would not feel guilty about the sabbath if I truly believed the sabbath is void and abolished. But I truly believe it is not void.. Rom 3:31.
I believe it is a blessing and God wants me to obey the 10 commandments so I feel guilty when I don't.

When Korah, Dathan, and Abiram led a rebellion against Moses, they firmly believed they were opposing a human leader and doing God service, yet they were actually insulting the Spirit of God.

King Saul walked contrary to the Lord’s commands and then stubbornly insisted he had performed them; his refusal to confess his disobedience made his case hopeless 1 Samuel 15:13-23.

In their great zeal for the honor of God, the religious leaders of Christ's day were so blinded by prejudice and self-righteousness that they crucified the Son of God while thinking they were protecting their faith.

Fanaticism, pride and selfishness often leads people to believe their own impressions are from God when they actually leading to corruption rather than holiness. It leads people to believe lies are truth. Or that the truth is a lie.
We all need to stand before the Judge and sadly many will ultimately hear the Judge say, "Depart from me, I never knew you" Matthew 7:22-23
The law of God serves as a mirror to point out defects in character, and those who "lightly regard" its requirements while professing holiness are in a state of dangerous self-deception.
True followers of Christ are not those who simply say "Lord, Lord," but those who do the will of the Father and keep His commandments
Matthew 7:21
1 John 5:2-3

Believe what you like. When I meet Jesus, I will be boasting of what He has done, not how well I obeyed the 10 commandments. You ignore the simple and clear word of God and put His wonderful grace back under the law. Your choice. Your loss.
You say I ignore the simple and clear word, yet you ignore the simple questions I ask you in regard to the word of God.

I am not boasting in doing any good.
I'm not claiming any glory for obeying.
All good comes from God.
Joh 15:5 ....: for without me ye can do nothing.
All glory to God.

I do not put His grace under the law.
I put it over the law.

But I do not remove the law completely like you because no law = no need for grace.

Why do you need grace?

I need it because of all the sins I have transgressed. Jesus said "go and sin no more", He did not say "you can't sin anymore". The law is still pointing out sin. But Grace is able to forgive.

Rom 6:1-2
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

You have an identical philosophy, theological understanding as the four mainline religions shown below.

All four historical religions placed themselves under the law.

Catholics, the Reformed, Protestants, and the Orthodox all recognize the Ten Commandments as the foundational
moral law and a basis of holiness. However, these traditions divide, group, and number the commandments differently,
and they place a slightly different theological emphasis on how the Law relates to a believer's sanctification. [1, 2, 3, 4]

The Numbering Systems
The text of the Ten Commandments appears in the Bible in both Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5, but the verses are not explicitly numbered. Over time, Christians developed three primary ways of dividing them: [1, 2]
  • Catholic and Lutheran tradition: Follows the numbering established by St. Augustine in the 4th century. They combine the prohibitions against false gods and idols into a single first commandment, and divide the prohibition against coveting into two separate commandments (coveting a neighbor's wife, and coveting a neighbor's goods) to maintain the total of ten.
  • Protestant (non-Lutheran) and Orthodox tradition: Follows a division outlined by the early Greek Church Fathers. They list the prohibition against graven images (idols) as a distinct second commandment, and keep the two coveting warnings as a single tenth commandment. [1, 2, 3, 4]

The Role of the Commandments in Holiness
While all groups honor the Decalogue, their theological perspectives on its role vary slightly:
  • Catholicism: The Catechism of the Catholic Church treats the Decalogue as the essential moral foundation for spiritual health, growth, and Catholic social teaching. It is viewed as the path that disposes a person to receive God's grace.
  • Reformed & Protestant Communities: The moral law remains permanently binding. Reformers (such as John Calvin) emphasized the "third use of the Law"—meaning the commandments act as a vital guide or rulebook for Christians to live lives of gratitude for the grace they have received.
  • Orthodoxy: The Orthodox Church views the Ten Commandments as part of the moral law that was fulfilled and elevated by Jesus Christ. The basis of holiness is ultimately found in theosis (deification/union with Christ), but the Decalogue remains an unchanging baseline of righteous living. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Ultimately, despite different traditions in counting and numbering, all these branches of Christianity agree on the core substance: loving God above all things, keeping holy times, honoring parents, and strictly avoiding murder, theft, adultery, and deceit.
The problem is most of these religions follow the rcc and the changes they made to the sabbath commandment.
They keep Sunday as the Sabbath.

God said the 7th day.
Not the first.

Fine, live as an Israelite under the law. Just don't expect not to be judged as one under the law. That means that you will die in your sins.
I am not under the law because the blood of Jesus paid the price of transgressing it. Sin = death and Jesus died for my sin. So I am free from the penalty of the law and free from the death that sin brings.

But only by faith in Jesus's grace am I free.
Only by the gift Jesus has given.

But knowing that my sins are forgiven and paid for does not give me the right to continue in sin. Should I sin when I have faith that I'm forgiven for transgressing the law

Rom 6:1-2
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

So will I be judged as one under the law? Will I die in my sins?

"I will be boasting of what He has done,"????????

what is it Christ has done -- Exactly what?
??
Jesus Christ willingly died in payment for our transgressions of the Commandments/Torah,
He paid our penalty of death-- that payment does NOT mean we no longer need to obey --- it means we are no longer UNDER penalty of death for our sins ---- and sin is WHAT -- dis-obeying the Commandments!

IF, IF Christ removed the Law which states we must die for transgressing that law --- then transgressions would be impossible!

The error in understanding:

When Paul uses the term "under the Law" he is not implying we are no longer "Subject to the Law", we no longer need to obey the law

but--- once we understand Christ freed us from the penalty of death, by His death, because we broke Jesus Christs' HOLY righteous law, Paul is proclaiming ""WE"" are no longer "UNDER" the penalty of death for our sins.

Human nature hates to be told what it can not do and what it Must do--- the Holy Law of God has been hated since Adam and from whom did Adam and Eve learn how to hate God's righteous Law == Satan.

4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: ----- for sin is the transgression of the law.

the Apostle John, loved by Christ, confirms sin is still with us, thus, the Torah is still enforce.

5 And ye know that he was manifested (came) to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: "BUT" whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

GWT. 6 Those who live in Christ don't go on sinning. Those who go on sinning haven't seen or known Christ.

Can it get any clearer than this? Sin exist! period!

and sin IS not obeying, not living --- according to the Commandments.

So tells us again what Christ has done for you?

Thanks. I really like it, except for the "w". I suppose I could get used to it.

They keep Sunday as the Sabbath.

God said the 7th day.
Not the first.
I asked AI about Romans 6:14 and the interpretation that the mainline churches apply to that verse?

Here is what AI had to say about Romans 6:14,

Romans 6:14 states: "For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace."

The correct reading of this verse is that believers are no longer under the condemning penalty of the law as a system of earning salvation, nor under the enslaving power of sin. Instead, they are empowered by the Holy Spirit through grace to live a holy life. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Why Certain Churches Interpret It as "Ceremonial Law"

Some groups—most notably dispensationalists, Seventh-day Adventists, and certain strict covenantal branches—parse the Old Testament law into distinct categories (moral, civil, and ceremonial) to understand which parts still apply to Christians. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Those who interpret Romans 6:14 specifically as an abolition of ceremonial law (like circumcision, food regulations, and temple sacrifices) do so for two main reasons: [1, 2, 3]
  • The Galatian Context: In Paul’s other writings (especially Galatians), "under the law" is often used to refer specifically to the Jewish ceremonial rituals that separated Jews from Gentiles.
  • The "Two Laws" Defense: Interpreters in this camp view it as a contradiction of Paul's broader theology to suggest he abolished the moral law (like the Ten Commandments). Because Paul upholds the moral law as "holy, and righteous, and good" in Romans 7:12, they conclude that "not under law" must only apply to the abolished ceremonial or sacrificial ordinances. [1, 2, 3]

The Correct Reading in the Context of Romans 2–11

When reading Romans 6:14 through the overarching lens of Paul's theology in Romans 2 through 11, the intended meaning is broader than just ceremonial rules. Paul uses the phrase "under law" to describe the human condition under the overarching burden of sin. [1, 2, 3]

Reading this passage in its broader context highlights several key theological insights:
  • The Law as a Revealer, Not a Savior (Rom 3:20, Rom 7:7-13): Throughout chapters 2 to 7, Paul teaches that the law—including the moral law—perfectly identifies sin but provides zero power to overcome it. The law actually provokes the sinful nature, turning a person into a slave of sin.
  • The Contrast is "Law" vs. "Grace" as Eras of History (Rom 5:20-21, Rom 6:14): Paul constructs an argument based on epochs: humanity under the reign of Adam (under law/condemnation) versus humanity in union with Christ (under grace/life). To be "under law" is to live with the pressure of performance, where failing brings guilt. To be "under grace" is to be in a realm where Christ’s righteousness is gifted and the Spirit breaks the reign of sin.
  • Not Lawless, but Spirit-Led (Rom 8:4, Rom 13:8-10): Paul explicitly resolves this in Chapter 8 by stating that the "righteous requirement of the law" is fulfilled in believers who walk according to the Spirit, not the flesh. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9]
Conclusion:
The correct reading of Romans 6:14 views "the law" not merely as ceremonial rules, but as the entire legal, performance-based system of commandments which, without the power of Christ, only brings condemnation. By asserting that believers are "not under law," Paul is not abolishing morality, but emphasizing that the Christian's obedience stems from an inward transformation through grace, rather than out of fear of condemnation by the law
