also not a 'there, there', but i'd like to share something another member once wrote to someone having this kind of trouble, feeling they let God down.

you have kids, and grandkids? remember when they were learning to walk, and they toddled a little and fell, and you were SO disappointed in them you wanted to give up on them?

remember that? no? GOOD.

do you think God saved you and never saw this coming? ♥
no, dear sister, He knew, and He set His love on you and saved you anyway.
He did so for us all, and we have ALL sinned.

you fell and you have learned. and God? He still loves you. He was loving you even when you poured the last glass.
He wants you to walk with Him, and He's okay with you holding His hand so you won't stumble as you toddle, like your kids when they were small.

remember when your kids were little, and they were sick, and you just couldn't stand to be around them?
not, right? we have a sickness, sin, and just as you cared for your little ones when they were ill, our Father in heaven cares for us in our sickness. God became one of us. Christ took on human flesh and frailty, and now always lives to intercede for His people.

hold His hand and walk with Him. ♥
Thank you Notmyown...I am holding His hand and walking with Him, i am in the Word and learning about the renewing of the mind, i also see the God was showing me that the food He had given me from His word i was only hearing and not being a doer, everything was great while not being tempted but as soon as the temptation came i did not even try and put the word to use, that must of hurt God very much, i did not obey but i have learned a big lesson or two from that fall, and one thing i know for sure is that i must never let go off my Lords hand , thank you for your message, much appreciated...xox...

Hi all...Yesterday was a beautiful day and i ruined it last night by drinking wine...I have stayed sober now for a good few months and yesterday i drank about 4 glasses of large red wine and i am awake early this morning feeling dreadful, i never hurt anyone, was not abusive but i did speak about Jesus and i feel so ashamed of speaking His beautiful name while alcohol was in me, i sobbed my heart out last night to my pastor, the guilt of drinking again just mortified me, i feel so disrespectful to Jesus, i know all the Scriptures about drunkards not getting in to heaven, as i type this i am crying, i am not looking for a there there, i know i have sinned against my Lord, i am beside myself because i really do not want this addiction on me, the Lord has done such wonderful work in me over these past years where the drinking is concerned, and yet i still fall, i just want this to go once and for all, i put myself in the situation that i know i should of stayed away from yet i openly walked straight in to the pub knowing i was going to drink, i feel such a hypocrite , i was not drunk as in falling over, but my lips was lose in speaking about Jesus, if anyone is out there who has struggled with alcohol and can help me, please write , i feel so alone and the verses do frighten me about drunkards, someone please help me with Scripture, i feel i have let my Lord Jesus down and i know its because i have...xox...

Thank the great Lord He doesn’t only give us one shot! If that was the case, we’d all be smitten because we are all sinners, every single one of us. Jesus came into this world to take all of our sins (past, present, and future) onto himself, and they were nailed to the cross. When we repent of our sins and accept Jesus as our savior, all of our sins (past, present, and future) are forgiven, every single one of them.

Many examples of this exist in the bible. King David sinned greatly against God with Bathsheba and Uriah. He repented, and God forgave him (Samuel 11,12). We know this because even after that sin, David went on to be a great King and is mentioned on numerous occasions in the New Testament. Peter, who walked directly with and talked directly to Jesus, stumbled many times himself. He doubted Jesus while Jesus was performing a miracle on him (Matthew 14:29-31). He rebuked Jesus when Jesus told the group He was going to Jerusalem to be crucified (Matthew 16:22), and finally, he flat out denied Jesus three times during Jesus’s most trying time mere hours after Jesus told him he’d do so. And yet Peter went on to do great things. Another example… Jesus told the story of the Prodigal Son. Even though the son had disgraced his father, he was welcomed back when he repented and returned, (Luke 15) just as God will welcome us when we do the same. The scriptures are full of all kinds of examples of God’s love for us. He is a God of second chances (and third and fourth…)

Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep plugging away. The fact you know you’ve done wrong and have repented and asked for forgiveness is enough. Although Paul preached against drunkenness, even he had to be reminded by Jesus that Jesus’s grace is enough. Hang in there.

Thank you so much Lookup...This message of yours is healing to my soul...Since i fell that day last week, i have received the forgiveness my Lord Jesus Christ died to give me but something inside of me had changed so deeply i can not even describe it myself...Its like i have become an emotional wreck, every time i talk to God i really do drench my face with tears, sometimes to the point i can not talk, i do not feel like God has turned away from me far from it, it is like He is standing before me while i give Him everything which i truly want to, myself, my family, my whole life, every time i cry deeply, i feel the tears emptying only to fill up again, like i said i do not understand what is happening but i do know God is in control, i feel different since that day last week, everything feels torn, my daughter called me an alcoholic, words hurt, to be honest i do feel broken, but i am waiting patiently on the Lord, for He will heal me and bring me to where He wants me, once again i thank you for your message, it`s soothing...xox...

We're all in this together, going through the same struggles. I believe when you make yourself accountable, God places people in your life to help on your journey. I'm thankful for those that continue to help me too. Keep plugging away.

Thank you LookUp...I thank God this episode is behind me now, it has taught me to never be so sure of myself, to be a doer of the word and not be just a hearer, and i also realized that in this past week how God has shown me what i did not know, handled me with love and care, and has opened my eyes to see more clearly...One thing for sure is i am treading more carefully, that slip up may not of been as bad as in i never drank a lot as i would before, but the thought of how easy i deceived myself to let go off the Lords hand for just a few glasses really scared me. I hope you are well LookUp and thank you for your message...xox...

Thank you Huckleberry, yes i am a mother and grand mother and i have been walking with the Lord for nearly two years, yes i am born again...I know that the condemnation i am feeling is not from Jesus and i am truly sorry for drinking, yet it is so hard to get rid of the guilt and shame even though i know God is not condemning me...xox...

The guilt is honest guilt that your conscience puts on you, because you had a "slip"..... and it sounds like you were fortunate that it was a small slip... most alcoholics don't do small slips... they usually go off the edge. Praise God that you stopped when you did...

Remember, you do the "sobriety thing" one day at a time.... today is a new start..... every day. Prayers for your continued control over the temptation.

I quit drinking years ago, not because it was becoming a problem but because I didn't want to end up like my brother. My drug of choice has always been nicotine. A couple years ago I managed, with the help of God, to be smoke free for 3 months. One day going to work I stopped at my favorite convenience store as I usually do for my coffee. Once at the counter to pay for the coffee I asked for a pack of L&M's and a Bic lighter. I'm not sure why I did that but I did feel the guilt. I still do and I also worry about my health. I've been praying for God to give me the courage and the strength to quit again, and this time for good.

Isaiah 1:18
Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

God understands the human condition full well and is full of compassion and mercy. Through the grace of God you will be able to overcome your addiction and the same is true for me also. Let's take it one day at a time and have little victories over our addictions and other things that don't belong in our lives.

We're not hypocrites, just addicts.

Isaiah 28:10For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

Let's keep our eyes on the prize while living one day at a time knowing that God will never leave us or forsake us.

Thank you hornetguy, God has worked wonders with my drinking habit, He has taken me from someone who was so abusive through past hurts, from falling on my face blacked out, from losing family members to gaining much more back, i did leave the pub before the drink got the better of me thank God, i do know that this temptation will probably be with me all the days of my life, but i can do all things through Christ who empowers me Phil 4:13.:) xox...

Awww tourist, i dont know why but your message really touched my heart, i felt a little sadness through your words although also i felt the joy of our Lord come through...I also used to smoke but gave up three years ago and went on the e-cig, while smoking that i never went back to smoking tobacco, then 4 weeks ago i gave up the e-cig, never thought it would happen but it has, but its the drink that is my downfall, every where we go its in our face, but i put my trust in God, for He is Faithful to us, and like hornetguy said, one day at a time...xox...

If you're a saved believer in Christ, you should have no fear of hell.
You cannot lose your salvation, even if you were to quit believing!
Our relationship with God is that of parent and child.
If you have children, you already understand the compassion.
It's better to stay away from the edge of a cliff when driving up a mountain, incase you fall off. By your point, as soon as someone is saved, they can go and shoot themselves because they can't lose salvation. Seems a bit off to me. Carry on in trembling and fear.
