I take every opportunity I can to take my shoes off. I just enjoy the freedom of not wearing shoes. People are always commenting about my going barefooted. I'm always joking with them saying, “I've got Jesus living in me. Therefore, I'm always in His presence. Therefore, I'm always standing on Holy Ground. Even though I am joking when I say this, I'm not to far from the truth.
When God told Moses to remove his shoes, because of the ground being holy, it's not because the ground is, of itself, holy. It was because of God being there that the ground was holy. The area was made holy by His special manifestation of the divine presence. Therefore, do not tread on holy ground with your soiled shoes. Our sinful nature is what soils us. However, it's because of Jesus' blood that was shed on the cross, that we are able to take off the soil of sin and stand, washed and barefooted, in the presence of God.
During the Bible times, when you went to someone's house, there was a servant that washed your feet. They washed your feet so you can walk in their master's clean house without soiling it. Jesus became that servant that washed us, so we can boldly go into THE Master's house, unto the throne of grace (Heb 4:16). So He can present us, not having spot, or wrinkle, or soil, and we would be holy and without blemish and blameless before our Father. (Eph 5:27 & Phil 2:15) When Jesus washed the disciples' feet, He was in a sense demonstrating what He was about to do (John 13:1-17).
Plus, every place where the sole of your feet shall tread, shall be yours. (Deu 11:24 & Josh 1:3) So, I have dominion over the area where I stand. Psalm 23:4 states, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.” So, even though I walk through an evil, wicked world, I don't have to worry because the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in me (Rom 8:11). This same Spirit that lives in me is greater then he that is in the world (1 John 4:4). So, with the Spirit of God living in me, I am always in His presence. Therefore, I am always standing on holy ground. Therefore, I have dominion over the area where I stand.
