Uh oh...a guy understands. The female handbook must be changed immediately. I hereby call an emergency meeting of all women in the forum to the forum ladies room. :D

I was actually typing out loud in an attempt to organize my own thoughts. I didn't expect it to make sense to anyone. :) You are exactly right, Gabe. But it's still just an excuse like Stilly said, isn't it? :(

No, my dear friend. Being human is not an excuse. Its what keeps us humble. Its what makes us human.

Hmm... I can definitely see the value in trying to learn everything you can from any given situation. I also think that it's sometimes good to ask God why something happened, bearing in mind that not every bad thing that happens is punishment (Ecclesiastes 9:11, John 9:3).

But there is definitely a point at which to say, "All my musing will not lead me to any definite conclusion here".
Mental wallowing is not a good thing. <--- I have been very guilty of this in the past.

Too true, Popclick!:) We can chew on a thing for a season, but there comes a time when we have to move on and trust God to pull the trigger when it's time to use the wisdom we have gained for either our own benefit or someone else's. It is wisdom I seek, not defeat. :)

I stole 10 dollars from myself the other week. I'm still waiting for me to pay myself back.

:p

There's a little more that I need to say on this subject (not for Jullianna's sake, by any means. I know she knows what I'm saying, and I'm in agreement with her.)

It's actually been on my mind for about a week, so good timing with the thread. :) But I think that in a lot of "trials" that we humans go through, it would be beneficial to ask God, "What would You have me learn from this?" Or, better yet, ask Him when everything is going RIGHT, "What do I need to work on? What should I ask You to change?"

We are punished for our sins. We do have lessons to learn. We are chastened, scourged, reproved, etc. It is our job to take notice of everything God does to get our attention, whether it's in a whisper or a shout. And then, to learn from it.

"That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. But if we judged ourselves, we would not come under judgment. When we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world."

And I was wondering whether if we say that a relationship wasn’t God’s will, are we in some way blaming Him for it not working out? What if we are wrong? What if He did want it to work out, but we were either too lazy/stubborn to stick it out or the relationship died from the wounds of our sins? Just like He wants people to come to Him who choose not to do so.

I have learned in my experiences that when something IS God's will, God is still somehow able to work it out in spite of my blunders. I listened to my friends many years ago and broke up with my girlfriend, hurting her terribly. But because God was in it, about a year later we got back together! we have been together now for over 28 years, still in spite of my many blunders. Even in the ministry, God has held things together that would otherwise have fallen apart, due to my stupidity and impatience. So don't blame yourself for possibly destroying something that God wanted to work. He's big enough to hold it together. :)
