Psalm 9 was set to music, yes?
Put terror in them, LORD; let the nations know they are only men. Selah
(Psalm 9:20)
i wonder if that stanza was meant to be particularly soft and soothing?
Exodus chapter 15 is also a song --
Your right hand, O LORD, glorious in power,
your right hand, O LORD, shatters the enemy.
(Exodus 15:6)
The peoples have heard; they tremble;
pangs have seized the inhabitants of Philistia.
Now are the chiefs of Edom dismayed;
trembling seizes the leaders of Moab;
all the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away.
Terror and dread fall upon them;
because of the greatness of your arm, they are still as a stone
(Exodus 15:14-16)
i wonder if this song was meant to be intoned like a lullaby? somehow, i think, "no."
