Technically it's not the 10 "commandments" it's actually the 10 "sayings" or in Greek the 10 "words" as it's supposed to be translated. Christianity butchered it.

lol even the listing is out of order. I guess because I'm messianic, it tends to stand out easier than other denominations who normally don't go to the original language. We have a legit 250 year old Torah scroll and read from it every week in original Hebrew. I wish Protestant denominations went to the original text more than just parroting what they've been taught in english. I agree that we should make good use of available tools like concordances and lexicons to understand what the Hebrew (Old Testament) and Greek (New Testament) words really mean. I don't think God tells us that we must all learn Hebrew and Greek, or publicly read the Bible in those languages (unless we're living in Greece or Israel of course).
Yea, I believe there is definitely a benefit in reading texts in their original language to get the fullness of the message. If not read in the original language then at least with the cultural context relevant for that time.
I just cant wrap my head behind the fact that certain words dont translate in another languages. It's fascinating and confusing at the same time, but I'm sure if certain words by themself can't be translated, then their meaning or expression can.
I agree about the difficulties/impossibilities of translating a word in one language into a single word in another language. For example there is a German word, Schadenfreude, that cannot be translated by a single word in English. We need several words to translate it, something like "getting pleasure from somebody else's pain, difficulty or discomfort." I'm sure there are sometimes similar problems with translating Bible Hebrew and Greek into other languages.

My family and I actually painted the tablets on our wall and we made the first word start with:
"I am YHVH your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the abode of slavery."
I beleieve it is very important to know who your god is. And if we proclaim to serve the one true God, then we need to know what principles and practices belong to Him so that we don't blindly subscribe to the rituals and practices of demons

Sadism involves you actually inflicting pain or torture. Schadenfreude is seeing somebody's sufferings, and deriving pleasure from them. So they aren't really the same thing.
But algophile is already an English word. It's based on Greek, but so are several English words (telescope, anthropology, gynacolgy, for example) but it is English. I suppose that is increasing true of the German word schadenfreude.

One of my Rabbi's told me once to not fear going into the deep end and coming up with crazy things because essentially, God should be guiding you and you shouldn't constrain yourself to the doctrine of whatever denomination you're in. Although my congregation is listed as Messianic, they themselves like to just call themselves Torah observant.
Yep! We do Torah portions (parashah). I understand the desire to lessen labels lol I just think it helps in general to understand where people are coming from since there's now over 45,000 denominations in Christianity... Which is utterly absurd.

But I have my calendar that lets me know what todays readings are, so I'll be doing that. (Deuteronomy 21:10-25:19) Which in church would be read straight from the Torah which everyone else can follow along using the Chumash, and then it's read in english after. Then a brief 20 minute teaching by leadership given by who ever is in rotation (we have 5 leaders, only 2 are Rabbi's) and then the floor is opened to the congregation for questions/comments.
I don't think it's an instance of "must" but "should". Do you have to? No. Does God tell you to? Again, no... but if you really want to study and understand, I think it's necessary. Our context for english is not the same context for Hebrew and reading english words you can misunderstand the context quite easily.
I am sure that there are many Christians in the world who have difficulty enough reading and writing in their own language, let alone learning two foreign languages, both of which use different alphabets to other world languages. When it comes down to it, our understanding of Scripture is aided by the Holy Spirit. I agree that for those who can do so, it is helpful to learn Greek, or Hebrew, or both.
I know right! It's insane how there's that many denominations. My spirit weeps in "is Jesus divided, then how can the body stand as one". I get having different opionions for certain Biblical concepts but having full blown divisions over fundamental faith based truths is concerning. Every denomination has some truth as well as areas where they are misguided. If they all would come together and let the Holy Spirit be their guide, not man's traditions or teachings, then they would have something solidThat's cool about the tablets!

If you've already read or Seek Out the Whole Book; Be careful about What you Believe, too. Because the Spirit also Testifies that Portions have been altered and are Unholy. The Same goes For many other books in man-deemed 'apocrypha'; few of which are even True to Begin With. Even '1 Enoch' & 'Jubelees' as we know them In English (& Even in the 1 Enoch Ge'ez) have corrupted portions, While also having words that are still preserved as the Pure Truth from their proported authors. Even popular apocryplhal books like Tobit, Judith, and things in all the Maccabees Books (even entire Maccabees books) being completely false.
The Power Has Not Been in Me to determine these things, However: Everything I've written in this Thread from first to last was Entirely with Gods Council; with Some Things I didn't know, Even this Very Word, Until I was advised to share this Here, and I myself believed some Untrue Things about these Books before I Counciled with Him very Recently; Yet the Lord has prevented me from Sharing these things Directly as a Tool of the Truth.
