I just found out about this today from @seoulsearch mentioning it on a post on my profile. It is very bittersweet. A part of me is really devastated to learn about it, but I also knew the amount of health issues he was dealing with when we got close about ten years ago or so, and all the mental issues he struggled with.

I knew him as Ugly, I believe he changed his name shortly before I left here, but we were good friends. He, myself, and another individual were the resident Christian metalheads here who constantly shared music with each other and others, and were always defending ourselves from the more conservative Christians who thought our music was demonic. Yes, he was vocal, opinionated, and even abrasive at times, but he was a genuine person and it was always something I admired about him. We were friends on facebook for quite some time after I left here, and somehow lost contact. But I always considered him a good friend, and someone I looked up to. I just came back here last night, and he was honestly the first person I thought of that I hoped to reconnect with. But I am also happy that he is finally at peace now.

One of William's favourite singers. I chose to share this one because I've been missing him so much, in the spaces, in silence, in the cold.

This song speaks of love being in those moments and that love is alive.

We know God is love. God is alive and through everything we face, he will carry us through.

Blessings to you all.

PS. Zaoman32: My phone won't work properly with reactions but I am trying to give a friendly heart. Thank you for sharing.

The Greatest of These
Song by Eric Clayton
Lyrics
For the lost and the broken
All alone in the fight
For the hope of the hopeless sinner
Who lives between shadows and light
For the truth has been spoken
And the time is at hand
And the faithfully wounded remain
And we’re lost in the virtues of man
Love… love is a whisper not a shout… not a shout
Hear… hear in my voice, as it rejoices in the sound
For the hope of tomorrow
Can we not be afraid?
Can we fight back the horror of it all?
Can we hold back the floodgates of hate?
To the faithful departed
To the sage on the stage again
In the strength of our broken places
We stand, we call, and we wait…
Love… love is a whisper not a shout… not a shout
Hear… hear in my voice, as it rejoices in the sound
Every day in your faces, every day in your eyes
Every day in your patience and faith
In a way, you all saved my life…
In the scars we are broken apart
In the monster it fades again
And it seems like a dream to me now
And it feels like the marks make the man
Love… love is a whisper not a shout… not a shout
Hear… hear in my voice, as it rejoices in the sound
Love is alive… love is alive...
And it speaks to me in the silence
And it sings with me in the sound
And it lives and breathes in the space between
In the hopes and dreams we have found…
Love is the healer – love is the light
Love is in everything – everything right
Love isn’t hateful – love isn’t blind
Love shall remain – love will survive
Love is alive…

Many of you would know of long time member of this site Subhumanoidal (some may even remember him from before that profile name). Yesterday, after many years of various health complications, he sadly died.

I wanted to create this thread as a place for people to share their memories about him.

I know people didn't always have a good opinion of him but if you could share the good thoughts and memories only that would be appreciated.

I love him very much, he helped me through some very hard times one being the loss of my mum in 2023, all whilst he himself was undergoing treatment for cancer. That right there should help paint a picture of who he truly was, despite how he may have come across over this platform.

He will truly be missed.
I... I remember, when I first came here, he helped me, at first we disgreed a bit but eventually i came to respect and love him. I only knew him for just under a year, and now he's been gone for 5 months. but the pain of loss is like he left yesterday, maybe worse because I'm no longer in shock. I was affected so strongly by him, he changed my life. i can say that without him i would be gone. now I will never take my own life. thanks to him i have been introduced to so many great resources. but he's gone. how can we just get better without him?
"because you have to. because I said so, he said firmly." -Inertia.
we miss you, William. see you in paradise one day.

after everything, this is my favorite of all the songs he recommended.

Thank you so much for sharing this. William was misunderstood by a lot of people, even his own family but he truly had a heart of gold.

I hope you are ok and life is good. Please reach out to me any time.

Aw

I think I came on CC too late to ever get to know him really well - would you like to bump a thread he posted that you enjoyed?

Oh he knew you, as a matter of fact every time you would post on an old thread he was always there to put that clock emoji on it.

.... lol good times, good ole classic subhumanoidal.
? I don't remember

Why did he put a clock emoji on it? I suppose digging up old threads was a no-no?

What is the oldest thread on CC anyhow?

Ok I think I sort of remember. He was like one of the mods who was always overseeing the forum and what people were posting. You get people like that who can be a bit nit-picky about forum etiquette especially if you accidentally break the unwritten rules.

This can really interrupt your train of thought/threads if someone constantly does that to others. Otherwise I suppose he was trying to be helpful. Some people didn't take it to well though.

I think anyone who's survived a trauma or suffered and God got them through it is testimony to others that God is real and we can go to Him for anything.

RIP

@Mezame83 were you and subhumanoid engaged?

I did not know this. You must have been devastated...but when did you get engaged? Did he know he didn't have long to live?
Share if you want to

It helps to write things out. Especially if we couldn't go to the funeral.

It would seem to be this one:

He wasn't a mod but he was here for many years and saw the same things dragged up over and over, things that really, in the end, weren't edifying.

Yes and no, we were together for almost 6 years, we met on here. I actually joined to fellowship with women but life got busy and I didn't do that often. He piqued my interest with the way he responded to posts, but it wasn't until out first interaction on a coffee thread, where he made me laugh, that I took the plunge and wrote to him privately.

Honestly Lanolin, I have so much to get out but every time I do someone tells me to forgive or he's in a better place, or trust God, or some really unhelpful statement.

Unfortunately, there was no funeral, but I did have a memorial service with my children and two best friends, that helped, somewhat.
