Thanks, I'll read through these, but in reading the first few passages of your comment, I have questions buzzing around in the unoccupied are betwixt my ears........

QUOTE: I hear it said you can't prepare a meal on the Sabbath and yet we read...

Exo 12:16 And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.

AND QUOTE: Exo 16:23 And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.

Do the heavy lifting on the preparation day. Don't roast a turkey or make a Yankee Potroast (one of my favorites) on the Sabbath. Do it the day before.

END QUOTES...

These appear to contradict each other........or we are going to be dining on cold pot roast.........now, I can enjoy a cold piece of good roasted meat, but cold 'tatters 'n' such are a different matter............see, to me this says "on the Sabbath, dine on left overs from the day before......." not in those exact words of course but,............

I agree that much was "added" to God's Law, and much of it was impossible for people to live by, do...........and Jesus spoke of this, as did the Apostle Paul.........still, thank you for the Scriptures.

there is a difference between a weekly Sabbath and a "high" Sabbath.

i dont cook on the Sabbath, I prepare the day before, as cooking may take an hour, and that houe could be spent with Yahweh.

on the work and labor thing, In MY INTERPRTATION looking at Ex 20:8-11 and Isa 58:13-14 and MT 12:12, I believe it is only for the things of Yahweh, nothing for personal gain, I think a HONEST approach of WWYD (what would Yahshua do) should be applied here, as He is the perfect example. so if it builds up the body of Messiah i THINK it is Sabbath material. the pharisees tried to make it a burden and so you would just want to stare at a wall all day so you didnt "mess up" but the pharisees were evil and i think trying quench the Holy Spirit of Yahweh wheter they knew it or not.

I like this thought, and I firmly believe we should try to spend the Sabbath edifying the Church...........

(edited to add......)

and in rest and reflection.........

There is a big difference between warming a meal and preparing from scratch. The preparing from scratch could involve many hours, warming involves a few minutes to put the food on the stove or in the microwave. A crock pot (not to be confused with a crack pot, LOL) is a wonderful invention. Warming a turkey, already sliced is not a huge undertaking at all. Preparing food on the prep day so that it is easily made warm and delicious on the Sabbath is not difficult, but it does take a little planning.

Ok, so this would imply that it's the AMOUNT of work that is done that is sinful, not the TYPE of work?

In other words, if I spend 15 minutes reading for my Sunday dinner, warming it in the Micro Wave, that is ok, but if I spend 1 or more hours cooking my dinner from scratch, that would be a sin, or in violation of keeping the Sabbath holy?

Just asking, not trying to be a pain in the rear...........

WWYD

my take is it has to be a one step process, i try to make sandwiches as they can be grabbed and eaten with no fuss.

when i habe people over and were studying, and we grab some food i feel like i want to be quick in getting it so we can get back to study, sometimes we even continue while one is getting the food from the kitchen, its awesome, it like every one wants to hurry and eat to get back to Scripture.

just my view, pray on it, keep Sabbath and see how it feels to do this or that?

And a very good question indeed. Earning your living on the Sabbath, is that a question? Not to me. How much effort in preparing a meal is too much? Isn't there a scripture for this?

Rom 14:22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
Rom 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

For the most part, this is between you and God. The intent of the Sabbath is rest and re-creation (not recreation but re-creation). When I first began to keep the Sabbath, my thinking was how much can I do without breaking the Sabbath. As I have grown, it has become how can I make the Sabbath a day of drawing nearer to God and fellowshipping with Him.

In other words, there is really no good answer to how much. It has to do with your heart and relationship with God. Ask yourself, "Is this what God wants and intends?" "Or is this what I want?"

except making a fire is forbidden on Sabbath.

TannarDar, to be honest the way men have messed with keeping time I'm not even sure if Saturday is Saturday or Sunday is Sunday.

Hehehehehe well, there is that.... Just as BC and AD are no longer used because it offends the delicate Atheists in the world, soon we'll have an 8 day work week, because the seven day work week is also based on the bible.

Lemme ask you something Miss.....

Just suppose you lost every synapse your brain ever had and we were a husband and wife. And we got married June 1st next year. As your husband do you think I love you, if I ignore our anniversary and your birthday?

Now past thinking, how do you FEEL when I come home on your birthday and gripe that there is no food on the table? And then on our anniversary go fishing with my friends? Do you feel loved?

If I missed the anniversary day, on Wednesday, to celebrate it on Saturday, isn't that at least some love?

We should keep the Sabbath as a result of our love for Him. The day was made for man, not for GOD, and he made it a holy day in Genesis 2 or 3.

I grew up SBC. A 7th day adventist after 2 years of debate (you can tell I get intense on debate...) finally left me with no place to turn but submission on the point. That was one of the HUGE changes in my beliefs of my life. I had to change to be WITH scripture.

At what point is a person on here considered not a contributor but a leech?

When they start sucking the life out of a Spirit led life by saying such things as they are not led by the Spirit because they sin. Sucking the hope out of becoming a child of God and implying by such to others that they have to be perfect before becoming a child of God. Does that qualify one as a leech?

OH! So the Sabbath is God's birthday?---WOW, He get 52 Birthdays a year!

...I thought that is what Christmas was about. Hmmm...

Nobody said it was his birthday. Why do you resort to 2nd grade antics. It's a day He declared holy for US to remember His creation on. I gave you an example of a person's birthday to show why you keep days to remember things of those you love. Do you always take such an unmanly way out of an argument you lost?

Oh so I have no clue what Col. 2;16 is saying? Well lets see if we can put our thinking caps on a fig'r it out.
Is your hat from crackerjacks?

TEXT:

Oh for Pete's sake! Look what those evil King James Translators did to your precious passage! ( I need a minute to compose myself.)---They inserted the word DAY to make is say the exact opposite of what you are claiming!!!!!!

There were many days in Jewish culture that were a sabbath day. What's your point? Other than lack of education? Am I speaking to you how you wished to be? I'm mirroring your attitude to me.

16 Therefore no one is to [n]act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath [o]day—

It also says A day. Do you know why? If it was speaking of ONLY the SABBATH DAY, it would say THE DAY. Using "A" demands that there are more than one. Since he is discussing ALL of the Sabbath's of the Jews, the MOON Sabbaths, etc... it is much more likely, he was not referencing THE SABBATH DAY.

And in any case, you ignored the Hebrew/Jewish culture to the Sabbath day arguments. Howwwwww... conveeeeenient.

OH YEAH, btw, who inherited the JOB of EDITING GOD'S HAND WRITTEN COMMANDMENTS???? Can you imagine the amount of BRASS they could have mined from that man's burial mound?

Well, lets just forget all about that evil Vatican lie and dissect this.

Well that scripture above is tied in with Strong's exhaustive concordance. So I encourage you to look it up and make sure I am not stretching things. Looks like your argument is purely a matter of your imagination and/or ignorance. The Greek word for Sabbath is "Sabbaton" and can be translated as Sabbath day. Looks like you are fresh out of ammo.

Which Sabbath day? THE Sabbath day? Or A Sabbath Day?

Which one of those DAY'S was the "a day" you quoted?

Did you notice, of the Calender of Jewish Sabbaths for this year, the Sabbath DAY is not listed?

Any idea why? I've already answered this for you, but since you obviously didn't read most of it, OR chose to ignore it, let me rubbit in your nose some more....

The Sabbath Day, is so ASSUMED into their culture, it's not even considered to be listed among the other Sabbaths.

Would you like to have a whole exigetical breakdown of Col 2? I'm game if you are.

Sucking the hope out of becoming a child of God and implying by such to others that they have to be perfect before becoming a child of God. Does that qualify one as a leech?

I quoted scripture, NOT give my personal opinion. If you feel I misrepresented that scripture show me my mistake. If you can't show me a mistake, then perhaps I'm not the one with the issue.

What does Scripture say about being a child of God? Do you pay attention to your cliches you throw around?

If one is BORN OF GOD, we can assume that would also be a child of God? Well John had this to say about that person...

9 No one who is [d]born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is[e]born of God.

HE CAN NOT SIN, after the conjunction is of the essence of DEFINTELY NOT CONTINUE SINNING.

Before the conjunction, the "practices sin" is John's way of addressing the "sinful nature" that Paul coined.

John also said in 1 john 1, that HE and others were in fellowship with God. THose he wrote to were not yet there. They needed a little more darkness to be washed off. John wrote this so they MAY NOT SIN, because them being in fellowship with GOD AND HIM AND HIS COTERIE would make their joy complete.

Can you be in fellowship with God and not know HIm?

6 No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or [b]knows Him.

OH YEAH, and let's not forget that John said he was in fellowship, and that meant he walked in the light AS HE DOES..... Is it your contention, that John walked AS GOD DOES so therefore both of them sinned? Both being GOD and John? hehehe.

You got some fancy dancing going on there.

OH I FORGOT, who am I?

I"m the one that faces scripture that scared the hell out of me for 4 years before I understood the claims and the way out. I"m the one who hasn't got out of it yet, but trusts GOD where He says He would lead me there. I'm the one that acknowledges I can't save myself, and I can't stop from sinning, but GOD is a big entity, and can.

I have a real problem with that making ME a leech. I can provide more scriptural support for my position, than you will even pretend to read. You can contradict scripture.

If someone believes a lie, or a false promise from man, not GOD, I'm hardly sucking the life out of them.

If 99% of the people in here were walking off a cliff and were offended if I spoke to them, I'd slap them if I had to, to get their attention, no matter how pissed off they were. THEN I'd make sure they realized where they walked. The 2% I would let go, are you and Zone. :)

You are too easily offended and vain, I wouldn't wanna get my hands dirty with the slap.

1Co 11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
Does God only teach once or is He merciful?
Tit 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Why would the Lord chastise and flog us if we do not sin?
Heb 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Heb 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
You are having God correcting us and whipping us for no reason at all by saying that they who are led by the Spirit (the children of God) do not sin (give into temptation).

Did you notice, of the Calender of Jewish Sabbaths for this year, the Sabbath DAY is not listed?

most of those listed here have nothing to do with the Scriptures, they are Jewish tradition

Mark 7:7-9, "But in vain do they worship Me, teaching as doctrine the commandments of men. For laying aside the Law of Yahweh, you hold the tradition of men! Then He said to them: How well you reject the Law of Yahweh, so that you
may keep your own tradition!"

Yahweh's Sabbaths are

The 7th day Sabbath (Exodus 20:8-11)

and the "High" Sabbaths

Passover
Feast of Unleavend Bread
Feast of Weeks
Feast of Trumpets (all found in Leviticus 23)
Day of Atonement
Feast of Tabernacles
The Last great Day

If you say that they who are led by the Spirit do not give into temptation and further say that you give into temptation, are you then saying that you are not led by the Spirit?

First, you abbreviated cuss words in other threads, now you are being too bold. You are pushing the limit.....you can relay a message without offensive speech.

Does not Scripture say love your enemies? And you would allow me and Zone to walk off a cliff? That is very xian of you. Put a little Christ in your walk and be a Christian.

Galatians 3
King James Version (KJV)
3 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.
5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Adam and Eve did not need to rest on the seventh day.
Genesis does not command anyone to keep the Sabbath.
Jews understood that Abraham did not keep the Sabbath.
God called the seventh day holy, but he did not command it as a day of rest until the days of Moses.

Miss:

Revelation 14:12, "Here is endurance of the saints: here are those keeping the commands of God, and the faith of Jesus.'"

we are not saved by Law but we are not to disobey Yahweh

Romans 3:31, "Are we then doing away with the Law through the faith? By no means! Rather, we establish the Law!"

Mattithyah 5:18, "For truly I say to you; Unless heaven and earth passes away, one yodh--the smallest of the letters--will in no way pass from the Law, until all things are perfected."

Luke 16:17, "But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one yodh of the Law to fail."

Yaaqob (James) 2:26, “For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so the faith without works is dead also.” Can dead save?

2 Timothy 4:3-4, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts they will heap to themselves teachers, who will tickle their ears, and they will turn away their ears from the truth, and be turned to fables.”

Hebrews 10:26-30
"For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. Those who rejected the Law given
through Mosheh died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished, who has trampled the Son of Yahweh underfoot, and has counted the blood of the covenant (with which He was
sanctified) an unholy thing, and who has insulted the Spirit of mercy? For we know Him Who has said: Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, says Yahweh. And again: Yahweh will
judge His people."

Romans 3:25, "Whom Yahweh set forth as a sacrifice of atonement by His own blood, through the faith, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of Yahweh."

Hebrews 6:3-6, "If indeed Yahweh permits, we will now proceed to advanced teaching. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, And the righteous, having come to
know 1cthat which is spoken by Yahweh through the Law and the Prophets, the power of Yahweh, and the world to come, If they shall fall away, it is impossible for them to be renewed to repentance again. They have rejected the Son of Yahweh, and therefore are alienated from Yahweh."

1 Corinthians 9:24-27, "Do you not know that those who run in a race all compete, but only one receives the prize? So run your race that you may lay hold of the prize, and make it yours. And everyone who competes conducts himself temperately in all things. Now they compete to obtain a perishable crown; but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore, I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man who beats the air. No, I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified."

1 Corinthians 4:4-5, "For I know nothing by myself; yet by this I am not justified, for He Who judges me is Yahweh! Therefore, judge nothing before the time. Wait until Yahshua comes, Who will bring to light the things hidden in darkness, and will reveal the secret intentions of men's hearts; and then each man will receive praise from Yahweh."

Jesus ROSE on the, 'first day of the week,' (Sunday). In other words, He had died, or entered into His rest (Hebrews 4) on the evening before the special PASSOVER SABBATH (an additional Sabbath added to the Passover week), and had been, 'sleeping,' in death (as in John 11:11), from His works for the three days and nights, through to, and finishing on the regular Sabbath. Now, rising on the first day of the week, Jesus began His new role of post-resurrection Intercessor ON the day on which the new church would henceforth gather for worship. From then on, Christians, by worshipping on Sunday (the first day of the week) would now commemorate Christ's RISING, rather than worshipping on a day on which He was dead. Christian worship is therefore a CELEBRATION OF LIFE, rather than a mourning of death (we wear an empty cross, rather than the Catholics' depiction of Christ still dead, and on the cross). And, as Christ began His new role in service on the first day of the week, Christians, also, minister on the first day of the week. Paul instructed the Corinthian church to make a collection on the first day of the week (I Corinthians 16:2), the day of their weekly worship.

As in all things in the Christian's life, nothing is, 'set in stone," (I Corinthians 10:23) but God has indeed directed us in many areas, things we would be wise to follow. Few things in the Christian's life are coincidence; apparently God recommends that our day of worship be the first day of the week. But no one would go to go to hell, nor limit his Spiritual growth by gathering for worship with other believers on a different day of the week. My only concern, and it is a profound one, would be that the Christian not find himself drawn into a regressive return to an Old Testament slavish, 'Seventh-Day-Adventist,'-like Judaistic legalism. Such is what we have been saved FROM.

Colossians 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, 21(Touch not; taste not; handle not; 22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? 23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

No, Christ rose about sunset on Saturday afternoon. If He did not, then He lied and is not the Saviour...

Mat 12:39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
Mat 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Christ was buried at about sunset on Wednesday afternnoon (the Passover, 31AD) and rose three days and three nights later, just as He said He would, at about sunset on Sabbath afternoon.
