minor toad:
co-worker's 1st day back after maternity leave, temp worker's last day working for us, and will be going across the room to go back to being a full time employee of a company that is moving out of state and not taking her with it. Company lunch today on the owner's personal tab - which he volunteered to do despite being out of town on a business trip for one of his companies. Both the leaving and the returning employee there. And the quietly discussed reality that management may not have heard yet... that the temp wasn't all that good and should not be kept on.
Can I just call in Awkward to work today?

And the 3,000lbs toad in the room:
Still waiting to have something in writing that a state agency said I would get in writing. This amazing written thing has the potential to be the fulcrum on which I may be able to move some mountains for my family.
I know they only told me Saturday that I would be getting this in writing, but I'd been waiting to be told something like that since before Christmas, and it could serve to move mountains that have been needed to be moved for over a year now.
