Today I have to do something that I've not done before, and I already know it's going to be difficult, although I'm trying to tell myself that it will all be fine, and I'll survive.

Totally giving myself a pep talk here.

Also, I'm infiltrating ya'll's (oh yeah, I used TWO apostrophes!) forum. I just wanted to announce that.

Anyhow...

I'm surely not the only person around here who does this. Not the infiltrating, the pep talking myself. Yes? No? What kinds of things do you have to "gear up" for?

I think I need a pep talk right now because I have to take a family member to the doctor for the first of many routine treatments and I will probably have to sit there and wait for a few hours til they're done. I don't even have one of those smartphones where u can browse the internet and I don't like reading books. :/

Hmm...sudoku? Cross words?

...practice ballet?

I dunno, what's appropriate for a waiting room?

I woke up this morning thinking I would rather face a barrage of bullets than be in love. My chances of survival are far better I think. :D

Thank you, Lord, for blessing me with a sense of humor :)

Well I can tell you from personal expieriance, practicing ballet is NOT appropriate for a waiting room. LOL With that said (and off my conscience) ...I have to give myself a pep talk to go out to the mailbox daily. Most of the time it's a wasted walk, and unless I already have shoes on,I hate having to go do so. I always have to give myself a pep talk when it comes to dusting. My most hated chore in the house to do. Why you may ask???? Because it's never ending. How can I be this filthy? How can I create so much dust???? I dust...it's gone..things are wonderful now...I am feeling LIKE A BOSS. I close my eyes. Sleep for a few hours. SON OF A!!!!!! Where did YOU come from?? Abomination thouest call thine self DUST BUNNY!

I talk to myself whenever I'm trying to figure something out (like a puzzle) or putting something together.

For example, yesterday I put something together for my church's nursery. I took a picture of the first page of instructions (there were many).

Looks like some sort of robot, right? No. It was just this. But it took a lot of me talking to myself and figuring out the instructions to finally put it together. "Okay, so this goes here, and I need this for it, and it faces this way...no, wait. It faces THIS way. Shoot. Turn it around, Rachel. Turn it around."

There's a song by Nicole C Mullens where she talks about speaking to her heart like a little
girl. I find myself giving myself a pep talk a lot.

I give myself pep talks when I have to do something I'm nervous about. Like, there's a big test coming up and right before it, I'll give myself some inspiring words that I can do well on this and then I pray for God's help on it as well. Or, like, if there is a big roller coaster that I'm going to go on, I'm like, "This is nothing, I'll go on it and scream and have fun and it will be over in a minute!". Of course, when I'm actually on it then I'm like "Nooooooooooooo!". Oh well...lol

"I think I should answer MissCris's thread."

"Oh, I don't know, what if I don't really have anything to say?"

"Just answer the dang thread before I lose my patience with you!"

"Oh, you really want start with me then, do you???"

"Bring it, sister!!"

MissCris, I'd LOVE to answer your thread but as you can see, I never talk to myself. I wouldn't know how to respond.

And neither would I.

I have this image in my head with this now, and then you end up beating yourself up like Jim Carrey does in Liar Liar. Like, that's how it ends up... lol

Funny thing about what I thought was going to be so difficult today...

It wasn't.

I had to take my 2 year old and my 7 week old both into town (we live 30 miles out) all by myself, and it was the first outing for just the 3 of us. I figured it would be really rough because my son is doing the Terrible Two's thing, and we had to be out during his nap time, and my little girl eats like, I dunno, all the stinking time. Anyhow, we had two doctor appointments in different places, so I figured they'd both be acting up/crying/screaming the whole time we were stuck in waiting rooms...

Nope, they were both fantastic.

So, either my pep talk worked, or I didn't actually need one in the first place.

And then we almost died. In the car. Because other people can't drive.

And now I'm rambling. I actually have to give myself a pep talk to STOP. TALKING.

I so got this.

Dusting. Yeah. I have a mostly glass entertainment center. I think I dusted it um...

If I dust, it means I have exhausted every single other option to keep busy. And people worry, ask if I've got a fever or something.
