So, Im only 13 so I can legally get a tattoo therefore I have none. I am just wondering if anybody thinks that getting a tattoo is going against scripture. I am planning on getting a tatto when I turn 18, but I was just wondering.

There are multiple threads on this topic already. Some say yes, some say no. Its going to come down to your perception of scripture.
sisters, I think you meant you CANT legally get a tattoo right now.
My opinion of tattoos is that they really dont make sense. I mean, they are painful, and expensive, and will just end up rotting off your body when you die anyway. I know the bible says we are not to mark up our bodies with scars and such. Dont ask me exact book and verse, because I dont recall it at this moment. Why would you want to mar your body with a tattoo anyway? I know some get them to commemmorate something/ someone special or whatnot, but I personally dont see the point in getting one. Spend the money for the tattoo on something OTHER than a tattoo!! LOL. 
What ever you do, do not get a tattoo as you may have serious regrets later on in life. A better alternative would be to get a temporary tattoo to reflect your current frame of mind or standing. In Florida, they have branding, I don't recommend that either.
First off I wanna say that you seriously need to think about it alot. If you wanna get one by all means go for it and do what makes you happy! I know many people who love their tattoos. They're a great way to keep a great memory or moral close with you or just look great. As long as you're smart about what you're getting and where you shouldn't have any regrets. As far as scripture goes some say it isn't allowed and others say it is but ultimately who cares? Can't you just pray for forgiveness afterwards? Forgive me if I'm not getting it straight...
Like, Leviticus 19 says about not trimming the corners of one's beard; do preachers shave? The question is, do preachers that don't like tattoos really think that such Old Testament prohibitions still apply without any further New Testament clarification? (what about the Sabbath, for example? I'm dispensational, by the way.)
A lot of Christians do get faith based tattoos that they find effective in witnessing.
Okay, josh, no offense but I think you're wrong. Well not WRONG wrong...just confused maybe...Look at what the world is today...THis has been caused by people doing "whatever makes them happy." I don't think tattoos are necessarily a SIN...but just think for a moment. Your body is God's temple. Would you go to church and put graffiti on it? Of course not! That'd be the ultimate disrespect! Almost like spitting in God's face and shrugging it off. Since, then, your body IS God's temple, why would you mark it up with "graffiti?" These are simply MY thoughts. I think that the whole tattoo thing is something that everybody has to seriously think and pray about before they decide if a tattoo would be for them. It's like drinking or dating vs courtship. Everybody has to make the decision that they believe is best for and what God wants for them.

The Bible says do not get any marks on your body that go against or disrespect god. It also says not to get a tattoo that honors another God.

Well, Christians sometimes get faith based designs (Bible ref., Christian fish sign <>< on a wrist, etc.) as proven witness tools.

But, one way to solve this problem is "Love thy neighbor as you would yourself." Jesus said that all the laws (ten commandments) are in two great laws... "Love God with all your heart, mind, soul, body, and spirit"... AND... "Love thy neighbor as you would yourself." Anyways, I'm think I can reasonably say that "Honor your father and mother" is probably a part of "Love thy neighbor as you would yourself."
So... we can solve this problem from a different angle... do your parents approve? Because if your parents are not okay with you getting a tattoo... then you wouldn't be honoring them. Do you understand? One way to solve this problem is by asking the question... "Mom and Dad are you okay with me getting a tattoo?" If they say no... the problem has been solved. Then you don't... if they say no... then you still have a problem to solve. From that point... keep asking for advice, ask a pastor, ask a strong christian, ask ask ask... much love sister.
Although 18 year olds are old enough to make their own decisions, yet if they know that their parents would be seriously annoyed by ink, it might be worth considering putting any tattoo plans on hold for a while.
All families are different, and some moms or dads, with ink themselves, might be glad to think a Christian young person wanted a Christian fish sign <><, etc., done.

I can not get one until I am 18 anyway, so I do have a few years. In the US, there are one or two states where from 14 upward a young person can be tattooed with parental permission; even so, my two cents' is that it's wise to wait until 18 if not longer, so that the person can be really sure as an adult that s/he wants a particular design. Believe me; feelings and opinions do change over the years. Up here in Canada it's 18 in all provinces, I think, and most people are comfortable with this. It's 18 in a lot of US states also.
I'm not sure what to tell you. At least you have a lot of time to figure it out. But, I think its impressive that your looking into it. Good job!
