Has it come yet?

Greetings Tina2018,

Below is the definition of the word "Bdelugma" translated "abomination."

Strong's Concordance
bdelugma: a detestable thing
Original Word: βδέλυγμα, ατος, τό
Part of Speech: Noun, Neuter
Transliteration: bdelugma
Phonetic Spelling: (bdel'-oog-mah)
Short Definition: an abominable thing, an accursed thing
Definition: an abominable thing, an accursed thing.

HELPS Word-studies
946
bdélygma (from 948 /bdelýssō, derived from bdēō, "to reek with stench") – properly, what emits a foul odor and hence is disgustingly abhorrent (abominable, detestable); (figuratively) moral horror as a stench to God (like when people refuse to hear and obey His voice).

The abomination will be some type of idol or image which will be set up in the holy place within the new temple. If you know anything about the law, Israel was told by God through Moses that they were not to make any graven image. Therefore, for the ruler, that antichrist, to have an idolatrous image set up in the holy place would be a reeking stench in defiance against God and which will cause Israel to flee out into the wilderness where she will be cared for 1260 days, which is that last 3 1/2 years of that seven year period.

I believe that "the image" mentioned in Revelation that the false prophet has the inhabitants of the earth make of the first beast, though not mentioned by name, is the abomination spoken of by Daniel and Jesus. That image that he causes everyone to worship will most likely be that abomination spoken of.

Hope this is beneficial

The abomination of desolation destroys many nations.

Daniel 11:41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

Hello Luigi,

While it is true that the antichrist will stand in the temple proclaiming himself to be God or anything that is called God or whorshiped, he himself is not the abomination, but it is an object that will be set up in the holy place within the temple. Consider the following:

"And from the time the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation set up, there will be 1,290 days."

"And he will confirm a covenant with many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of the temple will come the abomination that causes desolation, until the decreed destruction is poured out upon him.”

The abomination is therefore not the antichrist himself, but an idolatrous object, which in the O. T. often used of idols and things pertaining to idolatry, which will be set up on a wing of the temple. Regarding this, I believe that the abomination mentioned by Daniel and quoted by Jesus, is synonymous with the image of the beast referred to in Rev.13:14-15, of which whomever will not worship it, the consequence is death.

Hello Ahwatukee,
I on the other hand believe the abomination of desolation to be the beast who destroys whatever stands in its way.

Daniel 7:7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

The scripture above does not identify the beast as the abomination. The wording the scripture states that the abomination will be "set up" which would not infer that it is a person, but an object.

No. This is a prophecy for the future, and ties into Revelation 13:

REVELATION 13 (KJB)
1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were asthe feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.
10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth,
that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
15
And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

My suspicion is that the 'abomination' is an act, an event, that is so utterly offensive as to cause huge upheaval. I think it was Chuck Missler that speculated that the 'anti-christ' would slaughter a pig on the altar of the Temple, causing mayhem and disgust, in heaven and on earth. That would really cause a stench. The Temple will be rebuilt and the site is other than most think.

In the OT idols were called abominations (even though acts can be abominations).

"STAND IN THE HOLY PLACE" is the key. This cannot be an act, but something erected in the Holy Place of the future temple at Jerusalem (since there is no current temple).

The Antichrist will cause the installation this amazing animated image in the Holy Place, and then sit in the temple of God and call Himself God and Christ. And the majority at that time will bow down to him and to his image.

You see it your way, amigo. Not contesting your understanding. Interestingly, holographic projection technology is amazingly advanced now. You may be on to something. Cheers for the input. Thank goodness we have been warned.

Goodness me!
When will we ever see an end of these explanations that don't make sense?

It was said concerning the abomination, "..let the reader understand.." meaning that it something that requires wisdom and knowledge.
Slaughtering pigs and installing statues/idols in a temple is not something that requires anyone to have any form of wisdom that comes from God.

All these prophesies including the abomination thing, have a spiritual outlook which requires wisdom from God for anybody to even open their mouth. The abomination is lies that is put is people's hearts by satan so that they worship satan instead of God but all along thinking that they are worshiping God. The temple that is being spoken of is the hearts of men.

Here is the explanation:

Dan 8:11 It magnified itself, even to the Prince of the host; it removed His daily sacrifice and overthrew the place of His sanctuary. 12And on account of rebellion, the host and the daily sacrifice were given over to the horn, and it flung truth to the ground and prospered in whatever it did.

You are all making the mistake taking the word "abomination" out of the sentence and trying to invent what it can be out of the blue.

But the sentence says what it means - abomination OF DESOLATION. You have it even in the title of this thread. The desolation is the abomination. There is no need to invent something else.

The temple was desolated in 70 AD by the Roman army.

When Luke wrote his gospel, the temple was already desolated, thats why he made this note to Christ's words for the reader what it is about.

Mark 13:14 So when you see the abomination of desolation standing where it should not be (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

Matthew 24:15
So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination of desolation,' described by the prophet Daniel (let the reader understand),

It is not about Luke, wisdom and understanding is required as per all the accounts.

Not sure how you came to this conclusion. 40 years period till 70 AD is enough of time for all the events listed in Mt 24:6 and around.
The length of the period is not the issue, it is what Jesus said that contradicts your view. IOW, Jesus simply said '70AD is not the end'

You have probably some kind of specific translation, because I see nothing like that in Greek.

Then the problem is in your Greek, not the scriptures.
"....but the end is still to come.." in all the languages should mean that multiple wars and rumors of wars will happen but the end will still not come.
