The worst is behind us. We know how to identify the virus, we know how to treat the virus, and we know where we need to concentrate our treatment and prevention efforts. As our ID and treatment efforts progress, the death rates are declining. IMHO, the death rate will fall below 1% in the US by the end of next week or earlier.

I pray that your assessment is correct but it is strange that none of this news seems to have reached here where more stringent measures have been ordered by our government and talk of a one year shut down is circulating.

Plaquenil is over 50 years old. It started as an anti-malarial, now it is mostly used for Rheumatoid Arthritis, as the first med you go on. I was on it for a year. I had no side effects, but it didn't work, my RA was already too strong for it.

I have heard they are ramping up production of the med, plus, it is cheap to make. I'm not worried about supply, I have a stash of it, enough for hubby and I to be on it for 10 days.

All the side effects of Plaquenil are well known. The only issue is making it quickly, and getting it to the worst patients, first, and then to anyone who has been exposed.

Of course, I do believe this discovery is because of God answering his people's prayers!

Hi Angela, if you were on plaquenil then you know it can have a very serious side effect. I was on it when I was first diagnosed with lupus. The worst potential side effect is blindness. Permanent blindness. It is not a drug to be taken without understanding the consequences. I hope people are not tempted to try and order it from black market sources and think to self medicate. Please be careful people.

Yes, and I was tested for 5 years after for Plaquenil eye damage, both times I was on it. Both my ophthalmologists had large practices and they told me they had never seen a case of Plaquinel blindness. It is extremely rare. As it is, I would likely die from COVID-19, with my heart disease, lung damage and suppressed immune system, so I would pick blindness over death.

I also know that it can cause an allergic reaction, rarely. That isn't a reason not to try it. I'm allergic to aspirin and penicillin and I would never tell anyone not to take those drugs because of my allergies.

I pray that you are safe. I pray that your family stays safe. I hope you are able to be home. RA is no joke and I am so sorry you experience it. I hope your doctors have been able to find something to give you some relief. Please take care of yourself and I pray the virus stays far away from you. I mean that sincerely.
I am definitely not telling people to avoid it. I just want them to not self prescribe and self medicate. You and I both know it is a serious drug and not to be confused with a mild antibiotic. If it can help people that is great. I would just say that they need the doctor to OK it, give them the right dosage, not buy it from some shady guy on the internet, and make sure the doctor is monitoring them. If they self medicate and the doctor doesn't know what they are doing or how much they took, there could be other complications. I pray that they are figuring out a treatment. Agree, very strange, .. especially when one looks at the numbers in Europe climb significantly......they are about two weeks behind the USA
Even with treatment options it takes time to make the drugs in sufficient quantity.

Death rates will fall if the spread has been contained and the health care system is not overwhelmed.

Definitely this will not be true for both coasts....I think some sections will go into severe lockdown from the way the president was talking....middle America yes I think if they continue to follow the guidelines they will fair much better.

what is quinine made of, is it the same as whats in indian tonic water.
I would say just make sure you clean all surfaces and be vigilant about hygiene.

aspirin is made of willow bark.
just looking up, quinine is made from bark of the chinchona tree. I have not seem this tree growing here.

Lord please show us what tree you have provided for healing. we need it right now.

The death rate using known identified infections and total deaths to date is down to 1.4% today. As the number of tests has increased, we are seeing that rate decline. The number that I would like to see is the number of people who are tested and show only antibodies. If that number is significant, we are looking at a far less severe problem for most people.

The problem that we still have is the infection rate of those with compromised immune systems. I would like to see the number of those with compromised immune systems who tested positive and the number of those with compromised immune system who have died.

Here is what I support at this time.

Anyone who has been tested, and shows antibodies only, return to work.

Anyone who has been in close contact with an infected person be tested and placed in monitored isolation for 14 days. If he tests negative, after that period, he may return to work.

Everyone with compromised immune system continue to self isolate until their community (places they normally go) is covid19 free.

Yes. Many elderly people drink a bottle of tonic water daily for leg cramps. Quinine was used off label to treat severe leg cramps until the FDA issued a notice banning it for off label use.

Im reading my national geographic desk reference to Natures Medicine.
Red Cinchona or Cinchona officialanis has quite a profile.

the bark is used and it grows in the amazon regions, as well as India and Ceylon

the rubiacae family also includes coffee and gardenia (which I have growing outside my window) but I dont know if the bark from that will have quite the same effect as quinine. It has been used to treat malaria for centuries. it slows the spread. it is used in part of gin and tonic.

when I went to the hardware store just before shut down, the only herbs left were hyssop, so I bought those. All the veges seedlings had sold out.

the synthetic quinine such as chloroquine and mefloquine is not as good as the real plant, as drug resistant strains develop.
 
Its weird how the FDA will let junk food like mcdonalds be sold but not health giving herbs like quinine etc

Look on it as a 40 day fast, or better, a sabbath year.

I think everyone is exhausted right now and had enough of working so hard for the man. Its time to be still and know God and do the work He wants us to do.
 
Ive heard americans health system is pretty dire. Only the rich can afford it.

If the virus is in america still incubating I think their health system what there is of it wont be able to cope. You can see how they dealt with Hurricane Katrina. what a mess.

I have a niece working and living in Nevada as a self employed speech therapist. I am concerned for the safety of herself and her Husband. This may upset some people on site but when I see Trump telling everyone that it will all be sorted by Easter It makes me
even more concerned as to which planet he and his fans live on.

In the US, this is not a Trump problem. It is an all of us problem.

My wife and I fall into the high risk of death from the virus category. We know what we need to do to keep safe, and we will do it.

We are in an area that has been devastated by a disaster just two years ago. Most of the people around are just beginning to recover from that disaster and now this. God brought us through the first recovery. He will bring us through this one.
