I'm amused by those who confuse antichrist (lower case spelling) with the Beast of Revelation. I guess since John is the only NT writer to use the word antichrist (1 John 2:18, 22, 1 John 4:3 and 2 John1:7) and he also wrote Revelation, folks think antichrist is the same thing as the Beast. If there's any correlation between the two, I'd say it would more likely be that the Antichrist is the False Prophet.
They are just designations for the same person. The beast is that angel of the Abyss who is released at the sounding of the 5th trumpet:
"They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer)."
That angel is the same as the following entity:
"Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them. "
And is the same entity described below:
"The beast, which you saw, once was, now is not, and yet will come up out of the Abyss and go to its destruction."
"The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction."
When this fallen angel, the beast, comes up out of the Abyss, he will kill the two witnesses who will be ending their 3 1/2 years of prophesying and will take control of the antichrist. This is when the antichrist controlled by the beast, will put a stop to the sacrifice and offerings and will set up that abomination. It will also be at this time when the beast controlling the antirchrist, will stand in the temple proclaiming himself to be God. The antichrist is also referred to by Paul as "the man of lawlessness.
To recap, the antichrist is an actual man who is the one who will establish that seven year covenant with Israel. After that angel/the beast is released from the Abyss, it is he who takes control of the antichrist and puts a stop to the offerings and sacrifices and sets up that abomination.
Also, there are two beasts mentioned in Rev.13, the first one is the antichrist and the second one is the false prophet. We can conclude this from the fact that in Rev.13 the second beast is said to perform miraculous signs, even causing fire to come down out of heaven and the false prophet is said to be the one performing those same signs and wonders in Rev.19:20. Those performing of those miracles, signs and wonders is what identifies the second beast and the false prophet as being the same individual
