Yea its in the Domain near the Museum. The Museum sits on top of an old volcanic hill with a gorgeous view of the harbour. Possibly the best buildings/monument our city has but it's not iconic like the Sydney harbour Bridge, imposing never the less.

The Wintergardens were laid out by a famous garden architects in the Art's and Craft style of the 1910-20s. Includes a fernery, herbaceous border, bedding, a courtyard, ponds, bench seating and some statues on pillars/plinths. Also a wisteria covered arcade

I need to get to the Hamilton Gardens, they are even more spectacular, although newer.

There are two rooms, the Tropical house and the Temperate house. But I notice the display in the Temperate house now has cacti?!

No gardener willingly grows cacti in Auckland lol. When people know I'm a gardener and then gift me merch that has cacti on it, I kind of think...do they even know what gardening is...they are not my favourite plants lol
Gardeners have succulents if they want a rock garden.

Having said that, Christmas Cacti are always welcome - no spikes
 
I bought this dutch iris named Lion King for my friend who loves The Lion King disney movie

Never seen a dutch iris this colour before. I have some other ones blooming in my garden, pale purple, yellow, and dark purple usually or indigo. Love the long stems and the fleur-de-lys petals..they just seem very elegant Royal flowers to me. Like designer ones. Long stemmed, upright, very crisp clean lines, and fabulous colour shading. Almost like an orchid but not.

Tulips are colourful but they just look like coloured light bulbs/goblets to me. Boring shapes. And they don't last long when picked.

Nice! I looked up the museum online and you're right, it's very imposing/austere. Great location! I'll have to check it out if I'm ever in NZ.
 
I can never get them to grow in mine, would love to have them

I have snowflakes at the moment

Colder areas have snowdrops, which are a bit bigger, but in Aucks it's the snowflakes. We never get snow up here (maybe once in a lifetime) but we do get frosts.

I adore petite blossom flowers. Anybflower is gorgeous. The petite though are so special and delicate and full a garden space seemingly endlessly.

Alyssum, easy to grow, honey fragrance, great for borders. Can get coloured ones as well as the traditional white.

It's spring show time!
I've entered 4 entries into the Auckland Horticultural Council Spring Show, though I doubt I will win any placings...but you never know.

I have Dutch Iris, a vase of mixed cut flowers, a fern frond, and a novice horizontal design (except I didn't do a traditional one)

Will try and post some pix here later.
