Oh I didn't at all think of it as anything offensive. It wasn't at all. In fact, I found your response to be humorous and it was more so to me because of the accent some of us Indians have. Don't be sorry (sari). You made me smile and let out a giggle in the midst of my work. It was a good break! Thank you!

Joke all that you want. I enjoy humor and I'm not an uptight person. In fact, I can tell you about some bloopers we non-native English speakers make 😆. I laugh at them myself. These are facts, nothing to be ashamed about, but also very funny. For example, in India, when a person graduates, the common term used is "Passed out - She passed out in 2025". Guess, this person is still unconscious 🤣

Hope you are feeling better now. 💐

I am keeping busy, so not able to check CC often, but glad I did for this and could clear things out.
I am happy that you were not offended, but my apology still stands. After I apologized yesterday, I jumped in my car to go to the gym. On my ride there, I passed an automotive shop, and I pulled into their parking lot so I might inquire whether or not I could get a quick oil change. As soon as I walked in the door of the shop, I was an observer and listener to a conversation between the mechanic, a guy who was only in his mid to upper twenties, and a female customer who looked to be around 55 years old or so. What was the topic of their conversation? Their mutual contempt for Indians. At his end, he was peeved because Indians were buying up a lot of real estate in town and opening a lot of convenience stores. He also complained that he had Indian teachers while at college that he couldn't understand because of their accents while mockingly mimicking their accents. At her end, she was railing against Indian doctors. I was horrified by her language as she repeatedly uttered compound curse words that I could not repeat here.

What were the odds of me randomly walking in on such a conversation right after apologizing to a woman of Indian descent here? For me, it was confirmation from God that I was right to apologize, even though there was no malicious intent behind what I had initially said. So, yea, I will be more cognizant of culture before making comments here in the future.

It's ironic that events seem to have come full circle if you consider what the Native Americans, which had come to be referred to as "Indians," must've been saying when the Europeans began immigrating to North America.

I could never take my Chinese mum to a European restaurant because she'd be miserable if she didn't have her steamed white rice. And Chinese restaurants she'd always compare to her own cooking, if it was found wanting she'd let you know it would never be as good as her homemade food!

So the only restaurants I could take her where she wouldn't complain would be Indian or Thai. :D

I'm sure this was the evening before take off when the plane was grounded as there would be now way they could do that mid-flight. It looks like this was before plastic was invented too.
Nothing happens before takeoff except boarding or it will delay the flight.
