Today, when you point out God’s commands concerning man-woman relationships and roles, you are said to be guilty of misogyny, yet many claiming that are themselves guilty of misandry. All 66 books of the Bible are indeed written by men, and God designed and commands patriarchy. Scripture states “men were under the control of the Holy Spirit as they spoke the message that came from God.” 2 Pet. 1:21. The message we have in the scriptures comes NOT from culture, but from God!

And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto (or obeyed) the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in toil shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; (Gen 3:17) [Adam listened to and obeyed Eve, in direct opposition to the obedience he owed God. Such disobedience is continuing in this day.]

(For man was not made from woman, but woman from man. Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.) (1Cor 11:8-9) [Man was formed first, giving him primacy.]

Let a woman learn in silence with all submissiveness. I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over men; she is to keep silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. (1Tim 2:11-14) [Adam, being ‘first born’ has preeminence. Adam and Eve can’t be equal partners any more than you can have two equal chiefs or two equal presidents, and Paul bases this on the created order, not culture.]

But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. (1Cor 11:3) [Christ is equally and fully God, but his role in redemption’s plan is subordinate. Similarly, man and woman are equally human, but the woman’s role is subordinate to man.]

Women should be silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak but should be subordinate, as the law also says. If there is something they want to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church. (1Co 14:34-35) [Paul claims continuity of God’s law, not his being influenced by culture.]

My people—children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, your leaders mislead you and confuse the course of your paths. (Isa 3:12)

[Solomon], I have looked for other answers but have found none. I found one man in a thousand that I could respect, but not one woman. (Eccl 7:28) [Proverbs laments the man with a bad wife five times, but nothing about a woman having a bad husband.]

Listen to this, you women of Samaria, who grow fat like the well-fed cows of Bashan, who mistreat the weak, oppress the poor, and demand that your husbands keep you supplied with liquor! (Amos 4:1) [The book of Proverbs also states that finding a good wife is rare!]

Patriarchy is the biblical standard, and to turn that into a negative and reject God’s design for a basic principle of human existence, cannot but help bring full apostasy and ruin, which we are seeing in this day. Look about and see more and more women lawyers, judges, CEOs, law enforcement officers, etc. What would Paul say about all these women in pulpits today?

Gal. 3:28 is about justification, not the roles of men and women! God did put women in leadership at times, but it was his sovereign act. Man is NEVER told to choose or elect a woman for any position of leadership or rule. There were extraordinary gifts of the Spirit seen primarily before the destruction of the temple in 70 AD, but they faded away after the apostolic age and the authenticating of the New Testament. Those claiming the full list of the gifts of the Spirit still exist today have never documented any Christian bringing sight to a man blind from birth, nor has anyone documented a Christian raising a person from the dead, bringing them back to life.

For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion, leading them to believe what is false, so that all who have not believed the truth but took pleasure in unrighteousness will be condemned. (2Thess 2:11-12)

King James Version
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

And you might have forgot this
King James Version Proverbs 31:10-31
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

In the Bible, a man's treatment of a woman is centered on love, honor, and respect, drawing parallels to Christ's relationship with the Church. Key principles involve sacrificial love, considerate understanding, and viewing her as an equal partner.
Sacrificial and unconditional love
The foundational biblical teaching for a man in a relationship is found in Ephesians 5:25, which instructs husbands to "love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her". This means a man's love should be:
Sacrificial: He should prioritize his wife's well-being and needs above his own, demonstrating a selfless love.
Unconditional: His love is not dependent on his wife's actions or merits, but is a steadfast commitment similar to Christ's unending love for believers, and unbelievers as of yet, are all still called as well.
Cherishing and nurturing: A man is to care for his wife as he does his own body, nourishing and cherishing her.
We are all equals
As said, your women will dream dreams and tell truth too, thank you
Discernment is needed not pride or the making of anyone as guilty anymore thanked to the done work of Son first, at least me thank you

I may have comments on your post, but first I would like your answers to these questions:

To which verse(s) in the Law did Paul refer in 1 Corinthians 14:34?

What did Paul command of the unmarried women in the same passage?

How does Genesis 3:16 apply to this subject?

What is the meaning of “authentein” as used in 1 Timothy 2:12?

What was Phoebe’s role as noted in Romans 16:1?

With regards to Solomon , if he had obeyed God and not married a load of heathen women , then he might have found one that he could respect and maybe , we would have a bit more respect for him than we now do 🥴 .

man-woman relationships and roles,

Indeed, the historical patterns of men/women relationships are becoming more and more convoluted. Indeed, the historical norms of how to view gender distinction is becoming blurry. I feel for my little grandchildren as they are growing up in a culture that blurs gender distinction and gender roles.

The feminists have done a good job of changing the Bible to make man and wife “equal partners”, and labeling the biblical model of the rule of man to be misogynistic or of “toxic masculinity”. The Christian man knows well the commands to love their wives and it is clearly stated at least three times. Oddly, the closest verse telling women to love their husbands is:

and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be sensible, chaste, domestic, kind, and submissive to their husbands, that the word of God may not be discredited. (Titus 2:4-5)
however, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects (or fears or reverences) her husband. (Eph 5:33)
So once the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves and were submissive to their husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. And you are now her children if you do right and let nothing terrify you. (1Pet 3:5-6)
and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be sensible, chaste, domestic, kind, and submissive to their husbands, that the word of God may not be discredited. (Titus 2:4-5)

A verse in the Apocrypha, a non-canonical book of wisdom, gives a warning about letting the love for a woman take the upper hand -

Do not give yourself to a woman so that she gains mastery over your strength. (Sir 9:2)

Women must keep quiet in the churches, for no permission is given them to speak. On the contrary, they must take a subordinate place, just as the law says. (1Co 14:34)

Translations vary on the punctuation of this verse, but Paul’s use of “law” refers to the woman taking the subordinate place as in “To the woman he said, ‘I will greatly multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children, yet your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.’” (Gen 3:16). If the man is in the rule, than of course the woman is in the subordinate place. The question of what the “desire” is in the verse is best explained by comparing it to Gen 4:7, where sin wishes to take over a man; in like manner, women try to take control over men, as some translations render it.

The unmarried women are not addressed in 1 Cor. 14:34, but as in Titus 2:4-5 above would indicate, the older women were to train the young unmarried or betrothed women to not only love the husband, but to be “submissive”.

In 1 Tim 2:12, the Greek αὐθεντέω, translated in the KJV by “authority” is defined in the BDAG as “to assume a stance of independent authority, give orders to, dictate to w. gen. of pers. (Ptolem., Apotel. 3, 14, 10 Boll-B.; Cat. Cod. Astr. VIII/1 p. 177, 7; B-D-F §177) ἀνδρός, w. διδάσκειν, 1 Ti 2:12 (practically = ‘tell a man what to do’ [Jerusalem Bible]” The Thayer defines in similar manner “ one who acts on his own authority, autocratic, equivalent to αὐτοκράτωρ an absolute master; cf. Lobeck ad Phryn., p. 120 (also as above; cf. Winers Grammar, § 2, 1 c.)); to govern one, exercise dominion over one: τινς, 1 Timothy 2:12.”

Phoebe’s role in Rom. 16:1 is debated, but I go with “servant”. The debate as discussed in the NET Bible reads:
Or “deaconess.” It is debated whether διάκονος (diakonos) here refers to a specific office within the church. One contextual argument used to support this view is that Phoebe is associated with a particular church, Cenchrea, and as such would therefore be a deacon of that church. In the NT some who are called διάκονος are related to a particular church, yet the scholarly consensus is that such individuals are not deacons, but “servants” or “ministers” (other viable translations for διάκονος). For example, Epaphras is associated with the church in Colossians and is called a διάκονος in Col 1:7, but no contemporary translation regards him as a deacon. In 1 Tim 4:6 Paul calls Timothy a διάκονος; Timothy was associated with the church in Ephesus, but he obviously was not a deacon. In addition, the lexical evidence leans away from this view: Within the NT, the διακον- word group rarely functions with a technical nuance. In any case, the evidence is not compelling either way. The view accepted in the translation above is that Phoebe was a servant of the church, not a deaconess, although this conclusion should be regarded as tentative.

*shrug* I suppose it's an upgrade from "demonic".

I’ll respond to your answers later.

That is strange, Dino. I stated is it "non-canonical", so you believe all books of advice and wisdom outside the 66 books are in error? Isn't it legitimate to see what the Jews believed in a period between the Testaments? This particular book I quoted is dated about 180 BC. When Jude refers to Enoch, are we not permitted to check out that non-canonical book to see what it says?

Galatians 3:28 teaches that men and women are equally saved.
Ephesians 5:21 teaches that men and women should be mutually submissive.
Genesis 2:22 indicates that Eve was Adam's partner rather than his slave.
Genesis 3:6-7 indicates that Adam and Eve sinned together.

1Corinthians 14:34-35 indicates that there was some law against women
speaking authoritatively, perhaps referring to societal mores of the time,
which deemed such behavior to be "disgraceful" (cf. 1Timothy 2:11-12).

I didn’t say anything about the apocryphal books themselves. They just have no evidentiary value in this particular case. I’m surprised that anyone would think they do.

It does indeed have “evidentiary value” in that it shows, or gave evidence of, what God’s OT people around 180 BC believed about the relationship between man and woman. Don’t we value translations of the Bible by those not inspired by the Holy Spirit? We look up Greek and Hebrew words in Lexicons written my men who are also not Spirit inspired. Do we listen to Pastors in the pulpits even though they are not Holy Spirit inspired. Yet, I did quote that verse from Sirach because it illustrated what is happening much too often among Christian men today, in that they let the idea of loving the wife be interpreted in a way that gives her a control over him.

In an oral tradition, quoting someone is not necessarily a reference to some pseudepigraphal book that
was attributed to that person, written during a period when it was acknowledged there were no prophets.

A question came up, or a challenge to my quoting from the non-canonical Apocryphal book of Sirach. I’ll try to explain more what was in my mind, that I saw no need to explain.

The law concerning the vows, utterances and pledges of a wife, and the husband’s authority.

And if she is married to a husband, while under her vows or any thoughtless utterance of her lips by which she has bound herself, and her husband hears of it, and says nothing to her on the day that he hears; then her vows shall stand, and her pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand. But if, on the day that her husband comes to hear of it, he expresses disapproval, then he shall make void her vow which was on her, and the thoughtless utterance of her lips, by which she bound herself; and the LORD will forgive her. (Num 30:6-8)

When a married woman has made a vow, and when the husband hears of it, he can void it if he so wishes, if he takes action when he hears of it. If he is silent when he hears, it is taken as a permission. The husband has power to overturn not only vows, but “thoughtless utterances” of the wife made earlier, even if he hears of it days later and voids it that day he hears.

Give not thy soul unto a woman to set her foot upon thy substance. (Sir 9:2, KJV Translation)
Do not give yourself to a woman so that she gains mastery over your strength. (Sir 9:2, RSV Translation) [KJV Bibles commonly included Apocryphal books for about 200 years.]

Sirach 9:2 seemed to illustrate when a man lets the woman control him by his love, or other methods of female manipulation. I have witnessed in life and an early example:
When I was a boy (1950s), my father and I used to love trout fishing. Several times dad asked Harry, “The boy and I are going up to the Cranberry Glades Saturday, to fish; why not come with us?” His answer to such an invitation usually was “Let me see what Maggie has lined up, and I’ll let you know.” That was so uncommon at that time, it has stuck in my memory.

Biblically, if he has not already promised Maggie to do something on Saturday, he is free to agree to go with us. Maggie has authority only to plan for herself, not obligate Harry, by such nonsense as “If you loved me you’d go with me with what I have planned.” If Harry hears of her plans she has made and disapproves when he hears, Maggie must cancel her plans. This idea of equal partnership is nonsense, surely not Bible. The Jew writing the apocryphal book Sirach around 180 BC understood this and expressed it clearly as I understand it.

Samson got himself into trouble listening to that sort of thing from a woman:

And she [Delilah] said to him, “How can you say, ‘I love you,’ when your heart is not with me? You have mocked me these three times, and you have not told me wherein your great strength lies.” (Judg 16:15)
