You begin to really understand the problems in Christianity when the basic doctrines are relegated to what people think and personal interpretation.
Joh 14:28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
Jesus is speaking from His human side that the Father is greater than Him.
Joh 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
Joh 10:30 I and my Father are one.
Jesus is speaking from His human side that the Father and Him are one for Jesus is God manifest in flesh
Joh 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
Jesus is speaking from His human side.
1Ti 6:14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
1Ti 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
1Ti 6:16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
Jesus is God showing a visible manifestation of Himself.
1Ti 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
Mat 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
Jesus is God manifest in the flesh being conceived of the Holy Spirit so the Holy Spirit is God.
1Co 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him.
Eph 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
Explain why the Bible only attributes the Father as God.
Father- Creator and parent of the saints.
Son- God's visible relationship to the saints and the way He gave salvation.
Holy Spirit- God's invisible relationship to the saints and Him in spiritual activity which the Spirit moved in creation, and Jesus was conceived by the Spirit, and the saints are led of the Spirit.
Rom 1:3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh.
Gal 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law.
One God who is a Holy Spirit and Father is a title and the Son is the man Christ Jesus.
In this forum, if someone is denying the deity of Christ, they could be kicked.
Now, if someone really believes the Trinity, then they would also believe in the Holy Spirit being fully God.
So what is your barrier to believing the Holy Spirit is God?
Col 2:2
That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to AN acknowledgement (εἰς ἐπίγνωσιν) of the mystery (τοῦ μυστηρίου) of THE God (τοῦ θεοῦ) and Father (καὶ πατρὸς), and of THE Christ (καὶ τοῦ Χριστοῦ);
The Greek does not here give us "of THE God and of THE Father and of THE Christ. It says "of THE God and of A Father and of THE Christ", so arguably there are two entities in view -
1. The God and Father
2. The Christ.
I would understand "the God and Father" as the Triune God who is the Source/Father of all things, and "the Christ" as the incarnated and then resurrected Jesus of Nazareth, who as the anointed King and High Priest, both human and divine, reconciles and reconnects mankind with their Creator and one another.
But the Greek of this verse does not seem to me to prove a trinity is in view.
What about the pre-existence of Jesus as the Word?
