I recall the Harold Camping followers..all of which seem to have gone...I took notice recently of a movement out there among youth even the 'cheistian' youth to not go to church..i have gotten some good messages from a few ministries that adhere to this idea..because i was hurt..suffered much at the hands of christians..but eventually i had to 'get up and walk' again..i am going to a spanish church which i really like so far...its a bit of a drive..but i waa grieved because a recent few postings i have notices online..on ky facebook..i have notices many just will not get past the hurts..makes me wanna read 'you loat me' which touches on this issue...i do not judge those who avoid chyrch from.hurt..i have been there God used one of tgese ministries where the apologizes for the hurt caused by churches...i juat want to encourage each and every person that nobody is an island to themselves...we need each other..family disappoints at times but you do not get rid of your family! I struggle at times feeling loved and accepted in church but its my old man...i dight it..hebrews 10 says to forsake not the assembling of ourselves as some already have..i am afraid some never dust themselves off to continue their faith journey due to hurt...

I stopped going to church as a teen for really stupid reasons. I wasn't being spiritually fed as well as I should have been when I left, as I didn't open my Bible nearly as often. I also lost a great deal of accountability. I walked away from God an inch at a time. The landing was pretty hard.

Scripture calls us to encourage one another and participate in the Body of Christ. When we try to serve Him in an isolated capacity for an extended amount of time, how do we fulfill these callings? I think there may be times when we may need to withdraw for a season, but I wouldn't recommend it long term.

I tend to despise group participation as a general principle, but peace with a God-fearing church is a sign of maturity. Man is fallen and therefore a source of annoyance and pain. To expect anything different is unrealistic and withdrawing does nothing to fix the problem.

Part of the problem is the extreme individualism that has become common in society these days. We see it reflected in the church with the idea that our walk with Christ is personal therefore no one should comment on it. I think it crept into the church right along with moral relativism.

Sure, each individual has a personal relationship with Christ, but to say that my walk is my business and no one else's removes the accountability that should be found in the church. Many people have left the church because many churches have lost their relevance. So many churches are so busy watering down their message in order to be politically correct that they have lost the power of the Gospel. Others leave the church just because they don't want to be held accountable.

Similar to Jullianna I left the church in my late teens. My church youth group was so watered down I wasn't being challenged to grow, and a separate teen ministry I was involved in although the message wasn't watered down, the leaders assumed that I was doing great spiritually because I helped lead and taught often. A few things happened right around the time I graduated from High school that drove the final wedge between myself and the church so I completely severed all ties. It was all downhill from there.

Without regular involvement in a church body we wither and die spiritually, and at the same time we rob a church of our God intended role in that body.

GOING TO CHURCH IS GOOD.
AS IT IS WRITTEN IN PSALM133:1BEHOLD, HOW GOOD AND PLEASANT IT IS WHEN BROTHERS DWELL IN UNITY! 2. IT IS LIKE THE PRECIOUS OIL ...........3 .......FOR THERE THE LORD HAS COMMANDED THE BLESSING,LIFE FOREVER.

BUT IT IS DIFFICULT TO BE IN A CHURCH THAT IS DIVIDED DEEPLY AND WHERE JEALOUSY FLOATS IN THE AIR.
FOR ME CHURCH IS A SECOND HOME AND PART OF MY FAMILY. IF THE ATTITUDE OF CHURCH MEMBERS FOR EACH OTHER IS GOOD (BESIDE EVERY ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS OF A PROPER CHURCH.) EVERYTHING IS WELL BUT IF THERE ARE CONFLICTS I CHOOSE TO BE AT A MORE PEACEFUL PLACE. ANY WHERE BUT NEAR TO THE LORD .
