If that is the language you want to use to say this, more power to you. So much for my simplification language. The Gospel in short is the life, death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus, he did this all for us. To redeem us to himself.
What your doing is reading the information you have after the book of Acts ,back into the book of Acts . Common mistake. Silly but true .Are they asking about how to saddle a horse?
They are asking about salvation
Major major silliness
Romans comes after Acts . Romans is settled doctrines . Acts is a transitional book with 28 chapters with 29 different conversion accounts in it . Some folks stop at chapter 2 and call that the plan of salvation. And I'm the silly one ?Bizarre renderings of the book of Acts, which goes hand in hand with the refusal of Hebrews, have been represented on this site at various times.
Salvation through Christ, or 'the Gospel', is central to the book of Acts. The Greek verb for “preach the gospel” (euangelizo) occurs more in this book than in any other in the New Testament.
We know that Paul was sent to the Gentiles, but he also preached to the Jews. In fact, when he went somewhere to spread the gospel, he would first enter the synagogue and preach to the Jews. At Iconium they entered together into the Jewish synagogue and spoke in such a way that a great number of both Jews and Greeks believed Acts 14:1 There were converts from the Gentiles to Judaism, so Paul's preaching converted both Jews and Gentiles, IN the synagogue.
Paul did not preach a different gospel and he summed it up this way:
I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes —to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16
acts 2 is not saying saved people need repentance and baptism . Its saying they needed to be baptised to receive the Holy Spirit. How do you figure orthodox Jews are saved?
Do saved people need repentance and baptism?
Why is it a "mistake" for any Christian to interpret any passage in the light of the whole Bible? Indeed it is a necessity for proper interpretation. But your problem is (like that of some others) that you really do not know what the Gospel is.What your doing is reading the information you have after the book of Acts ,back into the book of Acts . Common mistake. Silly but true .
Your reading the Gospel as understood and explained in Paul's letters back into the book of Acts . Many denominations do this . 29 conversion accounts and you want verse 38 lol . I was sold that package when I first started trying to find a good church. Chapter 2 of a book of 28 chapters no less . How on earth can you not say its a book of transitions? That's an amazing claim from you ?Why is it a "mistake" for any Christian to interpret any passage in the light of the whole Bible? Indeed it is a necessity for proper interpretation. But your problem is (like that of some others) that you really do not know what the Gospel is.
And anyone who keeps harping that Acts is "transitional" is only compounding his own errors.
There is SOLID BIBLE DOCTRINE IN ACTS and you should quit fooling yourself and misleading others. In fact, your should be learning, rather than trying to teach.
Shouldn't a passage interpretation be made in light of its immediate surrounding and context first? Why is it a "mistake" for any Christian to interpret any passage in the light of the whole Bible? I agree with you on most things. Where I see you go wrong is on this area. Why is it a "mistake" for any Christian to interpret any passage in the light of the whole Bible? How about those who know what they do?When we see through the Eyes of Yeshua on the Cross, it is impossible not to care for all mankind. Our soul joins our Lord in His plea, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do."
Do you believe that regenerate men can do this, willfully choose evil? As for the unregenerate, it's hard to see how they can not chose to do evil (other than by outer restraints). With a cursory study of the Word we learn those who know what they do would be those who have chosen evil over good, past tense, and they love lies too.
Seems like they can do good here .Do you believe that regenerate men can do this, willfully choose evil? As for the unregenerate, it's hard to see how they can not chose to do evil (other than by outer restraints).
We see examples of Unregenerated men doing things contrary to calvinism all through scripture. Especially when you realise no one was regenerated until Acts 2 .Do you believe that regenerate men can do this, willfully choose evil? As for the unregenerate, it's hard to see how they can not chose to do evil (other than by outer restraints).
It is taught in the Word that some actually choose evil over good. The first to do this was Satan.Do you believe that regenerate men can do this, willfully choose evil? As for the unregenerate, it's hard to see how they can not chose to do evil (other than by outer restraints).
