A person has to first want help don't you think? It can be a delicate balance of discerning how much truth is applicable to help get someone on the journey. Too much at once and you can push them over the edge into despondency. Salt and Light in the proper proportion tailored to the individual is key.

Yes a person does have to want the help, or at least acknowledge a little that they are open to what another has to say to them. If they constantly reject what another says to them directly from God's word, and the proper steps have been taken to show them the proper way. Then this is where the teaching's of the Apostle Paul come into play from 1 Corinthians 5, in which Paul says if they still reject how the word says to walk then they are to be cast out.

Some seem to want to skip the other steps and go straight to casting out the individual and calling them a heretic, and others I have seen confuse accusing and rebuking, and how to do the rebuking. People seem to always come back to Jesus and what he said and acted toward the Pharisees and money changers.
The part they don't understand is that Jesus knew where there heart, and that it was full of greed, deception, and self-righteousness. The Lord knows our heart, but we do not know where one's heart is so we have no business passing judgment on another. All we can do is see by their actions and words if they are behaving as the bible states, and if not then we are to in love help them along the journey in faith.

There are two types of confidence that I see regularly on this forum:
confidence in the Word of God,
and confidence in one's own understanding of the Word of God.

Orthodoxy, by nature, is the second.

It is good to doubt ourselves and our own understanding.
It is good to be confident in the Word.
It is tragic to see someone think that their understanding of the Word is the end all be all.

I am guilty as any (so many times I have used this phrase) but saying "the Bible says it, I believe it, that settles it" is such a humanistic way to view the Word. It demands that speaker has full understanding of the Word, which we should all agree that none of us do.

On the contrary, I see change in that there has been an opening whereby a little bit of love is shining through more so than when I joined. There have been some compliments and even a few apologies shared between folks who are usually engaged in hostility towards one another.

That is true but I have seen a rippling effect on here so far.
Things were real bad and there was a lot of hatred going around, and then they cleaned house and a lot of those expressing that attitude were banned. Then it got good in here for a little while, but here of lately it has been going the wrong way again. I hope and pray it gets good again in here and stays that way.......

So do you think heaven will be partitioned off with rooms/mansions for different denominations with a sign out front saying heretics not welcome here?

Will there be a Baptist section, Methodist, Pentecostal, Catholic, Latter Day Saints, Adventist, Lutheran, etc.......????

Much of "that attitude" comes when people grow weary.
It is one of the failures of forum fellowship.
It is surely edifying, but not filling.
It takes local fellowship and personal relationship(to God AND man) to be filled.

I don't give on others easily either which is why even though I should by the bible treat them as an outcast since I have already followed the steps. I continue to go around and around with the same people, praying and hoping along the way what the word says will eventually sink in and be accepted.

There will be no such thing in the kingdom of our Lord because denominations are a man-made concept.
All those who put their faith and trust in the Lord to follow Him and what He taught will be there in the kingdom no matter what name is on the building they go to. Even if that building is their own personal house that they have others over to worship and study the word, as nowhere does the bible say the gathering has to be in big groups. According to the Lord 2 to 3 is even enough to be considered gathered in His name.

In my view...the christian walk is like raising a kid. All kids are different and certain things work with certain kids that don't work with others. Naturally we are children as well and the Holy Spirit tailors each person walk and lessons to the individual.

Like I said I don't mind conversing and debating with others when it is respectful and friendly, as this is good for the soul and helps better for all to grow in the faith. Getting heated and disrespectful never does any good for anybody !!!
