I told you ... I abide in the Lord Jesus Christ, stand and withstand firm in faith against the wiles of the devil.
IF that is true, then you whippin up on the devil when he tries to invade your life!
Good for you man!
Yes, we take the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God and pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit:
Ephesians 6:17-18 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints
in prayer, we acknowledge that in and of ourselves we are unable to overcome the wiles of the devil ... prayer brings us into alignment with God's will and shifts our focus to the power of God ... away from the circumstance we find ourselves in.
I see so you don't actually do what Jesus did which was speak God's Word directly to the devil and demand the devil to get out of His sight (get behind me was not an invitation for satan to follow Jesus around walking behind Him - no, that means "get out of my sight")
Sounds like all you are doing is praying to God about the devil which is not doing what Jesus said to do:
Mark 16:17
these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall THEY cast out devils
We have the same authority Jesus did and does over the devil and all demons under him.
Romans 8:17
if we are children of God, we are also joint-heirs with Christ.
Notice what the Lord said through Paul's prayer:
Ephesians 1:18-21
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come
Those who are IN Christ have His Power and are above the devil in authority in the New Covenant as members of the Body of Christ.
I believe prayer is needful in every circumstance ... whether good or not so good ... whether huge or not so significant. Bringing God into our life situations makes life so enjoyable. Who doesn't need God's peace, God's love, God's joy in whatever is going on?
Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Sadly you aren't confessing and declaring God's Word and standing on what God says expecting God to watch over His Word to perform it in the face of the devil.
You lack understanding on HOW to use the Sword of the Spirit against your adversary the devil.
Your claim is Jesus did not run the devil off???
That's sounds like the fake "jesus" taught by man made carnal minded religion.
That's a different "jesus" and another "gospel"
God's Word is God's instruction to mankind.
See the verse just before vs 6:
1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
In the immediate context of 1 Peter 5, the mighty hand of God speaks of God's power by which He resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. Other examples of God's mighty hand can be found in Scripture.
Being a doer of the Word is being obedient ... those who love the Lord will keep His commandments (
John 14:21).
God's Word is the Mighty Hand of God so being a doer of the Word is being humble.
there are times when I am distracted and sometimes fall short.
Why don't you stop then?
Why keep doing what causes trouble?
you have never, ever, not even one time, fallen in your walk with the Lord?
Back in the day, sure... but not any more.
Why would I want to lay down and let the devil slap me around like he did Job?
That's just being slow.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1 John 1:8 is speaking of sin that is on our record, otherwise John 1:9 would be a lie
Ever read the rest of God's Word on this topic? You really need to get up to speed man and accept the whole counsel of God!
1 John 3:8
He that committeth sin is of the devil
John 8:34
Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
1 John 3:9
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
1 John 3:7
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that DOES righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1 John 3:6
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
1 John 5:18
We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
1 Corinthians 15:34
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
1 John 2:1
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not.
1 John 1:7
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
2 Peter 1:4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
2 Peter 2:14,15
Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
Romans 6:1,2
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Romans 11:22
Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Romans 8:6
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Romans 8:13,14
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
2 Timothy 2:21
If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
