The decision of Crimea to become part of Russia was technically passed by a legal vote but the way in which the vote was organized was illegal. Those who did not want the Crimea to become part of Russia were ousted before the vote took place. Hence it was ultimately illegal even though it appeared legal on the surface. That's already been recognized internationally. Realistically, no one's willing to get nuked over this. Hence sanctions rather than military intervention.
By the way, the USA, including Alaska and the Hawaiian islands, is about the size of Europe. Can you tell me where Kentucky or Nevada are? While, I have to agree that half the country here is pretty stupid, there is no great difference from one nation's people to the next. Europe is filled with arrogant eleutherophobes who believe NASA is run by thick-browed rock-thumpers. Meanwhile they criticize Americans for having religious convictions, for leaving the "u" out of "color" and proceed to pat themselves on the back while their economy falls into shambles and half their country vanishes.
Something needs to be done about the Crimea. And if anyone has the moral high ground to deal with this situation it would be anyone other than Russia. If America were located on another planet I'd be happy to leave the whole situation in Europe. But we've already learned from Britain and her allies, and know that making territorial concessions to an aggressive and silver-tongued nation is akin to rolling over in front of a lion and begging it to eat us. Sure, Hitler, you can have Austria. Sure, Hitler, you can have Poland. Sure, Putin, you can have the Crimea.

For 9 years Russia (since dec. 1979 to feb 1989) tried to brake Afghanistan and failed … if somebody had chance they had, usa just sometimes ignores history and their own power…
Why they feel that they have to intervene every time? Something like.. are you in trouble? USA helps you… (no they not, just big speech)
Some of us find it sweet (little bit funny, but still sweet), some of us keep thinking what America really wants … is it oil? Is it more influence? What is the real intention. It is "good heart" or "greed"?

I think, that now is time for America to focus on America, not on the rest of the world… or world peace .. I think that that time, when USA had strong international influence and respect of the rest of the world is gone … from what I’ve gather …
I’m hoping for change thou… I mean it is not that bad … and of course I didn’t meant to offend in any way your country, I have same critical approach to Europe, or my country … its normal approach here in Europe, we are little bit ironic, critical and skeptical, we laugh about our own stupid politics, or even presidents (and we don’t take it like personal insult) ..we criticizes political events, it is nothing personal .. so I have no problem with usa …
And my English, yes I know ... and I am sorry for that, I know my EN is bad… but at least I’m able to read newspaper and understand it… and not just in English but also in other 4 languages… and be honest, how many languages do Americans speaks beside English? (and I don’t mean immigrants..)

Non-native English speakers struggle with the language, we use a lot of unnecessary words that other languages don't use. Even people that have lived here for 10 years or more usually don't completely grasp all the nuances...doesn't have anything to do with intelligence. Heck, most native speakers don't type it properly either
.You get the type of governmental leadership that you (Christians) pray for (or NOT pray for as the case may be)! Rom 13v1-7, 1Tim 2v1-8
So, instead of whining and moaning of what type of president you have, get praying!

That's the accusation anyway. I have a friend in the Ukraine proper (Not part of Crimea, or to be more accurate these days....Russia) that says the ones who grabbed power in the Ukraine itself are Nazi's. They stormed all the military supply depots and enforce their will very violently. There was a group that tried to get together to form a vote on joining Russia in the Ukraine itself, and the instigators of this coup rounded them up. They have no qualms about kicking down doors and "taking care" of people they deem to be a threat. The majority of the population there (Ukraine proper) actually want to join Russia according to my friend. Seems like no one considers the possibility that the people in Crimea perhaps ACTUALLY wanted to join Russia.
The young people there are generally trying to get out and go to Europe to find work, with the ultimate goal being to retire in Russia. Europe pays better, but Russia has a cheaper cost of living. Not very many people that live in the Ukraine are happy with the situation.
The US would not allow its nuclear fleet to be run by whoever the latest protestors are in Kiev.
Nor would Russia, with its nuclear fleet in Crimea, which used to belong to Russian anyway.
JFK would not allow Soviet missiles in Cuba (as per the historic Monroe doctrine) and JFK likewise removed US missiles from Turkey, because the Soviets were uncomfortable with US missiles in their backyard.
