Well in my world.... Washington DC is has been irrelevant for years.

I'm a citizen of the Kingdom of God and not a slave to the DC plantation disagree3.gif

What do you guys think the mark of the beast is?

No clue.. so many things said here are.. very interesting for sure :) But what gets me is... why do so many jump to the mark of the beast first? Well to get there you had to have worshiped already the beast or your dead right? But just taking about the Number.. yeah no clue

It says Babylon rules the kings of the world, ie, the 10 horns, which means she exercises all the authority of the first and 2nd beasts.

And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth. Revelation 17:18

Females don't rule over men in that sense but they can rule in a different way, which is how Babylon rules. She (a Queen/false Queen) does not have higher authority over a king. She is the false religion of the AC being God and that belief will rule over all who take the mark but that is ruling in a different sense, more figurative than literal and the Greek word can refer to a symbolic rule rarther than a literal rule like Kings have.

No. That is written only about the image of the beast not the beast itself. Same for the MoB.

It doesn't say anything about riding a beast. The whore sits atop the beast as well as the 10 horns and many peoples, which can only mean the world system. In other words she sits atop the world's system exercising all of its authority

And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: Revelation 17:1
And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. Revelation 17:15
And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, upon which the woman sitteth. Revelation 17:9

Sit
G2521 κάθημαι kathemai (ka'-thee-mai) v.
1. to sit down.
2. (figuratively) to remain, reside.

The beast lifts and sustains Babylon the whore, who sits atop the beast, the 10 horns and peoples of the earth

And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. Revelation 17:7
Carry
G941 βαστάζω bastazo (ɓa-sta'-zō) v.
1. to lift.
2. (figuratively) endure, declare, sustain, receive, etc.

Revelation 17:7
Then the angel said to me, “Why do you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast
that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.

She is sitting astride the Sea Beast and the Harlot is not the Beast.

The Sea Beast is a powerful ruler and is the Man of Lawlessness that Paul describes.

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4
Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and
the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself
above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God,
displaying himself as being God
.

The False Prophet directs your worship to whom?

The Sea Beast, the Man of Lawlessness, the AntiChrist.

Revelation 13:18
Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number
is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.

"the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man"

If the first beast is an economic-political system, and the 2nd beast is the leader of it, and Babylon is the city from which it rules, then the only way the 10 kings, that hate the tyrannical beast system they were forced to give their authority to, can destroy it is by destroying its headquarters, ie, Babylon

The scripture in Revelation states the Sea Beast is an eighth king but also one of the seven.

Revelation 17:11
The beast which was and is not, is himself also an eighth (king) and is one of the seven, and he
goes to destruction.

The False Prophet directs you to worship the IMAGE of the Beast.

The Harlot is the great city (Rome).

Revelation 17:18
The woman whom you saw is the great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth.

There is nothing in the description of the Sea Beast that talks about an economic system.

The Sea Beast is a man and he has the number of a man. The Sea Beast takes his seat in the
temple of God and proclaims himself to be God.

OK, so it's entirely possible that Washington DC is not destroyed... but just becomes irrelevant

The great city reigns over other countries; other kings.

Revelation 17:6
And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus.

Washington never killed the witnesses of Jesus.

Washington did not exist when John wrote Revelation.

Think of a great city that put John the author in exile on Patmos.

Think of a great city that executed Jesus, Paul, and thousands of the witnesses of Jesus.

Think of a city that had immense wealth and power.

In the first century there was only one great city that executed Christians and it's not Jerusalem.

Who is the Roman coin with the woman on the 7 Hills referring to?

An image of Dea Roma on a sestertius of Emperor Vespasian shows her reclining on Rome's seven hills
with various accoutrements; in this interpretation, the readers of the Book of Revelation, familiar with the
iconography of Roman coins
, would understand who was being referred to.

The readers of the book of revelation would have known which city. John was referring to with
the mention of the Harlot. There is no question John was describing Rome.

And they were wrong. Revelation is the road map for the end times, not their era.

And they were wrong. Revelation is the road map for the end times, not their era.

More accurately, the 6th and 7th seals are the road map for the end times, which takes up most of the book of Revelation. whereas the messages to the 7 assemblies and the events of the first 5 seals have pertained to the 7 assemblies and the world since their unveilings.

And they were wrong. Revelation is the road map for the end times, not their era.

Here is the problem you have.

John was writing to many churches in the first century.

John described the great city as Babylon.

The Babylonians, led by Nebuchadnezzar II, destroyed the First Temple in Jerusalem and exiled
many Judeans to Babylon
between 597–586 BCE. This event, known as the Babylonian exile, occurred
in waves following the Babylonian sieges of Jerusalem.

Then in the first century Rome (Babylon) destroyed the second temple and sacked Jerusalem.

Do you understand why John referred to the great city as Babylon. What could be more obvious?

Rome (Babylon) had killed Jesus, Paul, and the saints. Roman emperors even proclaimed themselves
to be God, Caligula and Domitian, Julius Caesar after his death was God.

The context in Revelation is unavoidable and Rome was much more severe on Jerusalem than the
Babylonian captivity.

You can project Revelation into the future and you would be in error if you did not.

The pattern of persecution and the declaration of a personal deity is hard wired into social
history.

No one can stop the technical evolution of digital ID.

We already have a very strong identification system for Government Services, Drivers License, Passport, etc.
In place before we move to a Digital ID. All the young folk use phones for digital transactions all the
time.

All they are doing with Digital ID is bundling all identification into one digital identity. Taxation, medical,
education, all services, customs, everything.

Society can know instantly who everyone is and who does not have an identity.

The even bigger step is digital currency which China implemented.

Mobile phone technology was the precursor and the internet before that.

The black market is doomed; no more tax avoidance.

Using an alias is a waste of time.

Why resist something that is destined to happen and has been happening for decades?

The sea beast is a kingdom, you know with the ten horns that are kingdoms within 7 heads/mountains. That's a massive empire, not a man. Even in Daniel the ten horned beast is a kingdom. It's the two people associated with little horns/horn that is the singular person in both Daniel and Rev. I honestly don't understand how people can make such a massive error thinking a ten kingdomed empire is someone one person.

ten horned beast is a KINGDOM/empire
the only singular person mentioned in Daniel 7 and Rev 13 is the leader of that.

Daniel 7 and Rev - 10 horned beast is a kingdom!
The leader the little horn in Daniel, and the false prophet in Rev.

Apparently your view is not what most academics think.

How can you follow an interpretation that is on the fringe?

Here is AI.

Yes, biblical interpretations often identify the sea beast from Revelation and the "little horn" from Daniel as symbolic representations of the Antichrist. The "little horn" is a figure from a vision in the book of Daniel that emerges from the fourth beast (representing the Roman Empire) and grows to dominate the earth. This figure is said to possess specific characteristics like a mouth that speaks blasphemies, a desire to change times and laws, and the ability to make war against the saints. The sea beast from Revelation is described as having similar characteristics and is seen as the final manifestation of this Antichrist power.

The "Little Horn" of Daniel
  • Origin:
Emerges from a fourth, terrifying beast with ten horns, which symbolizes the Roman Empire.

  • Characteristics:
Has eyes like a man and a mouth that speaks arrogant words. It is described as "little" at first but grows in power.

  • Actions:
Uproots three of the initial ten horns, speaks blasphemies against God, and persecutes God's people.
The Sea Beast of Revelation
  • Origin:
Arises from the sea, with a composite appearance of a leopard, bear, and lion.

  • Characteristics:
Has seven heads and ten horns, and is given its power by the dragon (Satan). One of its heads receives a seemingly fatal wound that is healed, causing the world to marvel.

  • Actions:
Utters blasphemies and makes war against the saints. It receives worship from the whole world and seeks to control all nations.
Connection between the two figures
  • Many scholars and interpretations see the sea beast and the little horn as the same figure, or the sea beast as the final, manifested form of the little horn.

  • Both are described as a single power that will rise to global authority, persecute believers, and demand to be worshiped.

  • The timing is often linked to a final period of intense persecution and a "revival" of the Roman Empire, which will be dominated by this figure.

What do you guys think the mark of the beast is?

I think the mark of the beast is
I am undecided. But I know we will know when it comes, if it is in the future.

The best argument for it being a visible mark is that it is used to buy or sell, and if you walk into a store without a visible mark how can anyone know if you have it or not? I don't go to the store and yell "I BELIEVE JESUS IS LORD!".
The other argument for it being a visible mark is that while the book of Revelation is full of symbols "buying and selling" is rarely used as a metaphor in Scripture. The only times I can think when it is being used is when Jesus tells to buy gold from Him, or when the Proverbs say "Buy the truth, sell it not" but I think its a stretch to force that into the mark of the beast.

The best argument for it being a symbolic mark is that the seal on the saved is also invisible and that the mark is said to be on the right hand or the forehead. If we were talking about a literal mark, you could just hack the system by taking it on your left hand and buying and selling. In Scripture right hand often symbolizes doing something willfully, with authority and at will, sinning with a high hand, and forehead represents thoughts. A clue for this is how Israel was told to bind the law to their foreheads for example. They took this literally. But I think a case can be made that those who keep the beast's commandments and worship the beast have His mark. But as I said the problem with this view would be: How could you regulate buying and selling with a symbolic mark?
It could be that the mark on the forehead is thinking like the beast, which is seen by God; and the mark on the hand is given to those who behave like the beast and inform on and persecute Christians, which mark is seen by men, and this mark allows them to buy and sell.

You always have great posts. This is another one of them.
