Older/elder, always. I had what to talk about with them, rather than my own generation. I mean, it was getting funny sometimes. Per example in high school, I'd visit my one of my best friends, and I'd often end up in most interesting conversations with his dad, so much that I'd forget he's there, and then when we make a natural pause he would start laughing, standing aside, and I'd be like no doubt xD

I dont know how it affected me. I know I was always geared towards getting answers to my questions so I found more in common with those who were journeying longer. I was not leaning towards my generation because they did not even ask these questions yet, lest had capability and clues to help me find answers.
 
Oh yes, plus not dealing with immaturity, for the most part, and learning how to deal with stuff better from the mature example, and plenty of wise counsel. What a win. :D

Years are not any obstacle for friendship. Children make great friends too. After my elders, I like hanging out with children the most because you dont get the messed up garbage from them - I mean gross things only adults are capable of, like looks of contempt, scheming against you for no reason, etc. I have not always appreciated children but I have started when I started working and seen how much adults actually are evil.

How about you?
 
for me, it was a lot as you describe.
i went to government schools, so i had a lot of friends my age,
but when i'd go to a friend's house to spend the night, i'd wind up talking to her mom.
(which is kinda weird since i didn't talk much with my own parents... :confused:)

i have cousins who are like siblings and they're 5-8 years older than i.
and Mark is 10 years older...(he says 9 years and 50 weeks...lol)

and i did sooooo much babysitting. spent lots of time with those moms.
so, yeah--older people and kids. :)

children see the world in unique and funny ways, compared to us jaded adults.
their company is refreshing.
 
I can honestly say that for me, I grew up with my cousin who was just 6 months younger than I. The majority of my friends were either the same age or older. Today, it variates, I have a close friend who is 50 and a long time friend who is 4 years younger than me. To me, I would tend to choose older (wiser/mature) friends, to which I could learn from, but I always attracted younger friends to myself. Not sure if that makes sense?
Nowadays, I have friends of all ages. And all over the world. :-)

(Assuming we're talking about friendships? Otherwise, in family relationships, I would spend more time with older family members.)

my mom was visiting last month and reminded me of a thing i did in high school...

i would call her at work when i was just at the end of my rope with the drama.
i'd ask if i could please leave and walk into town to the library.
she would say, what classes are left? do you have any tests?

if my answer was no tests, she granted permission for me to leave.
i'd go to the library and learn a lot more than if i had stayed...hehe
then walk back to school in time to take the bus home.

but she was laughing at me...
"who asks their mom if they can skip school? oh, ellie does!" :)

I need to grow up first, then I will be able to answer this Ellie.

Growing up , I hung around people my age.
Now, I hang around people older than me. I really like learning from those who have been on this dusty ball longer than me.
At the time, people my age - misguided me.
Now, older people - guide me.
I respect those who have more wisdom and life experience.
It's payed off.
Plus, it's fun to watch older people try and use a TV remote control.:)

SoulWeaver....The counting system....I will explain what mine was.... I used the counting system on my daughter when she was growing up I would say 1 and then tell her what I expected her to do or stop doing then I would say 2 at this point action on my part would take place I would remove her from reaching for the hot stove or hurting the cat or give her a swat on the behind as a punishment and then I would say 3. So Melisa would understand that between 2 and 3 she better straighten up and fly right.....

So that is the Blond counting system....I haven't read back far enough but I am betting that someone is using the counting system before punishment is dealt out....lol

i think Jacob is using it in its idiomatic sense...to make a sound or speak...

but in military terms, which i believe is a cadence call (tourist, is that right?)
it's a kind of work song. my cousins who were in the army tell me the original
cadence call went something like:
drill sergeant--"sound off"
men--"one, two"
drill sgt--"sound off"
men--"three, four"...

meant to keep people in step during those long, tiresome marches?

When the cat Baby was alive he would stalk the tormenting squirrel that would go across the screen of the porch poor cat the squirrel drove him nuts..... Now the tormenting squirrel still goes across the screen on the porch and it just makes me miss the cat now....fat little squirrel I trade him to have Baby back.....oh well....I think the squirrel has developed a coffee drinking habit now that Jacob drop the cup of coffee....as the squirrel seems to have more energy....torments me more anyway....lol
