Ain't it strange the way threads go sometimes? :P

My parents really did divorce, remarry, divorce, etc.
so I can't answer for them in this thread.

I do know that my best friend and his wife have a date night every week. It is sacrosanct. Don't ask him to come over for a card game, or really anything else in the whole world, on his date night.
 
if your folks are already remarried they could date each other I dont mean to be meddling and say they could date their original spouses.

Unless thats what you were thinking.

I thought the Parent Trap movie was a bit of a fantasy anyway since its highly unlikely the two divorced parents are still BOTH single. Though it supoosedly does happen. But usually. not with two identical twins being split apart. ?!

Yes, I did indeed read your first post.

No, Lynx's parents could not date each other. As he stated right off the bat, they are divorced.

This is why I was more than a bit surprised that Sculpt had suggested such extravagant means to get his parents to date.

Lynx's mother is remarried to someone else, and he's a really great guy (I'm sure Lynx's dad is too, he was just the one family member I didn't get to meet.)

Last I knew, you don't date your ex-spouse, or anyone else when you're remarried.

But maybe I'm just somehow old-fashioned and behind the times... Carry on.
 
hmm well I am sure some children do get their single parent who isnt married or remarried set up.
 
The book The Dating Game was all about that anyway...the daughter tried to set her divorced mum up on a date, since her dad had remarried and her mum was going to be ALONE

Did you even read my posts? I didn't say anything that argued with you.

If all you read was Sculpt's posts... No wonder you're confused. Go back and read my posts for context.

seoulsearch or Sculpt or some other kindly person, maybe you could suggest to lanolin that she should go back and pick up the context in my posts?
 
My parents are still married. They have had their ups and downs, but they stuck together, and I believe what bonded them was their family. They still go out from time to time, but my mom is a really good cook, so my dad prefers home cooked meals most of the time. My dad still likes fast food once in awhile like, Taco Bell, and Jack in the Box.

That's cool. My folks are still married to each other as well, 56 years. They've had their ups and downs. Looking at this thread, I'd have to say part of their success is a sense of humor, which is true. But really, it's their commitment to Christ and biblical principals.
 
Surely they dont need to go out for dinner maybe it could be a date where they go out for the day or NOT involve a meal

I think what my dad did before he was married was to take my mum up to the mountain and look at the view over the city. But now shes seen it all I suppose so it not new for her anymore.

Otherwise I really cant think of anything they would do together. Dad hates walking and mum doesnt drive but Dad wont drive her anywhere unless its to the shops or visiting relatives.

Sure you can ask. The answer is joyful humor. Lynx joked, "There is no way in the world I am going to try to get them back together again. Nope. Not gonna happen." I laughed. It was funny. I joked what if we paid him to set them up like the popular TV shows do. I wasn't seriously suggesting they date. Did you really think I was? The detail of his mom being married isn't the point of the humor. No humor stands up details, especially literal interpretation, it's not meant to.

Actually that wasn't a joke at all. I wouldn't want mom and dad to get back together for anything. It would be a very bad idea for multiple reasons.

But I can see how it could be read as a joke and when you started riffing on it I played along.

i think I know how to get my parents on a date

I book a restaurant table for three of us and say I will meet them there but then I wont show up and say I been called away at last minute

so mum and dad have to carry on a date alone

will they pike and just go home or will they stay and have dinner together? :unsure:

or is this just too much meddling. I hate being meat in the sandwhich. They should have enough peanut butter to stick together, without me right?

It wouldn't go well.

I am, for the first time, happily married. My wife is my best friend.

I can't stand being in the same room with my ex wife. Don't want to talk to her. I really enjoy not even seeing her.

I am a much happier person with out her in my life.

what why?

my parents are still married, just never date

ive had two bosses who hated their ex wives but they could never tell me the reason.

the friends who have ex husbands usually say of them that they were cheated on thats why they dont ever see them, which I think is fair enough or...they have restraining orders cos their ex husbands basically beat them up/abused them

did you meet because of your son? How did you son take the divorce, was he traumatised or was he like yea I hate my mother too.

I wish my parents liked each other more, or actually had something in common!

they fight over silly things like, mum watches her soap opera every night and dad doesnt but when he watches tv he'll watch the sport. They do not both watch the same thing, and there is only one tv.

dad likes junk food while mum likes fresh food

dad drives the car mum never does

dad mows the lawn mum mops the floor, never see them swap jobs

dad plays scrabble and does jigsaw puzzles but mum wouldnt touch them and despises them saying they a waste of time

Im kinda sad for them :-( and now with no pets, they dont have any to look after and forget their differences
 
I announced I was watching a movie, so I put on Rain Man
funnily enough, mum and dad sat down to watch with me

though I was in the middle

ha now I need to find a movie they can both watch together alone.

as long as it isnt Titanic. We all know the ship sinks in that one!

My parents are gone but they had a wonderful marriage from what I could tell. They were best friends. I dont know if they dated, dating is not really a thing in my culture as it is in western nations. They are long gone now but I used to cook them dinner when I got older. Or when it was my birthday Id make them dinner to say thank you for everything they did for me. In their older years it got harder for them to move around out in public but they were pretty happy with meals at home with the kids. I think planning dates for your parents is a great idea.
 
mum and dad have gone out to look after my. brothers home while hes away so they are ALONE together.

But its only cos traffic is bad that they are staying behind. If there is no food in the house, they will HAVE to go out.
