First you bash the Catholic church, then mainline Protestantism, then Quakers.

Class act, Lucas.

I have my doubts about the RCC being a 'church' at all, true, but that's a notion that I share with a lot of people here. I wouldn't call what I've said about the RCC 'bashing'though. I do have comments on how liberal christians interpret the Bible, true, but that's something completely different from 'bashing' mainline protestantism in general. I would never do that, since they are still brothers and sisters in Christ. I said: 'what I've read about the Quakers,' so that doesn't necessarily make it my opinion. But thank you forgiving me an idea on the way they read the Bible. Now...again, back to the topic... please.

Better than you apparently, especially when it comes to reading to scripture.

Oh, and I'm not at all impressed by the Quackers, from what I've read about them they are freethinkers and their theology comes dangerously close to that of the gnosis. So I wouldn't be suprised if they had sympathy for the liberal agenda too.
Even if I weren't a liberal Christian who happened to like quakerzen, the person on Christian Chat, and Quakers in general (those I've met), I would say you have WAY overstepped it here. I am disappointed that other chatters have not likewise chastised you for your FAR from Christian behavior.

Quakerzen has been patient and polite, never insulting, and far more forgiving than I would ever be able to muster. In return, you have insulted him, spoken ill of his religious background, and called him names. You have behaved very badly, in ways that I would not even accept for a non-Christian, and you claim all this with the "holier-than-thou" attitude of a Christian? If Jesus had not resurrected, he'd be spinning in his tomb.

For your information, Quakers tend to be quite conservative personally and religiously, though in some of their stances they end up being to the left of center. They are unrepentant pacifists, which usually gets them lumped in with the tree-huggers and hippies, though their conviction comes from a different place.

I am not going to tell you what you should or should not do, but I will do my Christian duty and point out that your behavior towards quakerzen has been nothing less than sin.

there is nothing wrong with the liberal agenda in the first place.

The Liberal Agenda

Call to order and roll call
Approval of minutes from previous meeting
Reports from officers
Open Issues:
  • feed the hungry
  • clothe the naked
  • visit the lonely
  • heal the sick
New Business:
Adjourn

What's so radical about that?

Probably because it doesnt help the rest of the believers as they pray for yachts and promotions?

Why most we hate on other christians. As I read this forum people seem to have a particularly negative view on other christians and specially the Pope. Can't you guys see who you truly hurt? When unbelievers look at us hating on each other they say: That is why I don't believe, they say love one another but they are always fighting each other. If the Pope said something and you agree with it, that does not make you a catholic. Can we be more positive instead of negative please!

Why NO CHRISTIAN will ever agree or have pleasure in SODOMY or any unnatural/ungodly sex!

In Romans 1 God's Word teaches us that all people that traded the Truth of God for a lie, will not inherit the Kingdom of God. One of these is gays and also unatural effections... Natural being clearly mentioned in the Bible a thousand times...MAN AND WOMAN...
BUT read this verse...
Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
Here is the TRUTH!... I have seen so many movies where a buch of guys "have pleasure" in two girls kissing!
In real life, lots of people have pleasure in gay activities. Even if they are not personally involved, they "have pleasure" in the act. Well here is some bad news for them..... THEY ARE ALSO WORTHY OF DEATH!

God only likes HOLY and PURE, and GODLY acts. Jesus showed us the life GOD finds pleasure in. ANYTHING outside that life is SIN and GOd does not approve. I do not care what ANY HUMAN thinks about whatever subject, I ask ...LORD what do YOU THINK, and what HE tells me, I ACCEPT as GOSPEL! And that Gospel is my life-style. Everyone that thinks himself a Christian should walk and talk like Christ Jesus!

No offense, but that IS ofcourse your opinion. I may not always have agreed with quakerzen, but I DO respect him as a person and love him Christ Jesus. Sometimes we got frustrated with eachother - you know how it sometimes goes in a heated debate - but I don't think we ever really resorted to outright name calling.
As far as I'm concerned my discussion with quakerzen on the subject is closed, and I really don't want this to develop into another discussion. I read your post with interest... noted.

James 1:19
'My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,'

I think that pretty much applies to the whole discussion above.

Ironic since almost all catholic priests, bishops, all popes etc. are sodomites. This evil pope just looks sooo demonically possessed its sure to all that he is a sodomite. Sir stay away from them.... please

No offense but are you a catholic yourself? You won't believe the stories that have come out the last couple of months about child abuse in the roman catholic 'church.' Priests and other clergy are seldomly punished for their offenses though. And I see no reason why a conservative 'church' as the 'church' of Rome would do away with one of her treasured traditions all of a sudden. And NO, statistically speaking the child abuse is MUCH more rampant in the catholic 'church,' so I'm certainly not trying to stigmatize just ONE group. Child abuse is rare in the protestant churches, because we don't facilitate it, end of story.

first of all, the catholic church is alot bigger than the protestant church (which is why it seems MUCH more rampant) and is always, for some reason, being put in the spotlight, which like raf said, takes the spotlight off what happens in the other churches. And for the record, i agree that it was absolutely wrong for whoever it was to cover that rubbish up. Which brings me to wonder if, after all this attention on the catholic church and pedophilia, if the same happened in the other churches, would they hide it to save themselves from being branded like the RCC was? I'm not saying its right, but i wonder what the percentages are per capita.
We do NOT facilitate pedophilia lol thats just rubbish to even imply something like that. But i wonder where you get your facts from anyway!! is it from a reliable source? or are you just going on what the media says like they want you to? I find it interesting how the whole world is trying to bring down the catholic church. the other christian denominations ALONG WITH all the evil organisations of this world. I can't help but think that the way evil looks at the catholic church is that it is its biggest threat and obstacle. So if evil can take out its biggest obstacle (which wont happen) then christianity is SEVERELY wounded. But instead of binding together to fight a common enemy, no, lets concentrate on trying to bring the catholic church to her knees!! Great move people. Brilliant lol. We have so much more to worry about in this world, like islamic domination (sharia law) and poverty, but we, as christians, choose to concentrate on weakening eachother with our petty little accusations and pure speculation about eachother. I wonder how Christ feels? God bless us all.

Except that the majority of Gay Marriage proponents, dont care at all whether or not churches allow it. They just want governmental acknowledgement and benefits...So ive yet to understand why the church is so involved...

Because they have the human right to do so. Whether you agree with it or not.

Homosexuals aren't after civil unions. They are seeking to do the impossible: redefine God's covenant of marriage to mean what they want it to mean rather than what God made it to be.

In spiritual terms, their efforts are futile. Even if they are successful in their effort to have homosexual marriage both legalized and made socially acceptable, God still won't recognize their "marriages" because they are illegitimate.

They can legalize it, make it socially acceptable, and conduct them in a church with Catholic priests and Christian pastors presiding, with their names printed on a legal certificate of marriage and they'll still be living in sin afterwards exactly as before but even more deceived than before.

Homosexual "marriage" is as illegitimate in God's definition as "marriage" between a people and animals.

Because they have the human right to do so. Whether you agree with it or not.

False Argument...
God's plain directive Gen. 1:27-28 " male and female he created them...be fruitful and multiply"
From the beginning it was God's design for male and female to mate and procreate in the PERFECT environment of the Garden of Eden. It was not until AFTER sin ravaged the world that it became necessary for God to institute further directives regarding morality... sexual or otherwise.

EXACTLY! Couldn't have said it better myself.
Also Leviticus 20:11-17 opposes incest.

This is a good explanation of why incest was "ok" and why God later on oulawed it for anyone who is interested. Which is pretty well just a longer explanation of what BarlyGurl just said.

\

I think YOU'RE reading things into the text. It never says God provided him with a wife. It does say that they were the only people... so...

I'm not defending incest in reality. I'm poking holes in your arguments against homosexuality. If Genesis can't be used to defend incest, it can't be used to defend "traditional marriage" because it provides examples of both.

incest and homosexuality are two different things.
Sexual relations were permitted TEMPORARILY in the OT ONLY for purposes of reproduction.
Homosexuality was NEVER permitted. Gays CANNOT reproduce.

Also, using the book of Genesis to defend almost any law or command in the bible doesn't make much sense. Considering Mosaic and Levitical law wasn't inexistence then.

Liberal agenda? Haha. Go back to highschool, kid. There's no "liberal agenda" in the Quaker congregation. We just know how to interpret the Bible for ourselves instead of being taught things that are interpreted, pretty much from translations of the Bible.

So what does the Quaker generation say about this passage?

2 Tim 2:23-24
Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil,

I don't think they really care about that...

Probably because it doesnt help the rest of the believers as they pray for yachts and promotions?

I am conservative as you know. I don't pray for yachts and promotions. I am also not rich, and even I have had to recieved government assistance in the past. I don't think it is a good idea to stereotype people because of their political affiliation.
In my experience there is a huge difference in a liberal and a Christian liberal. While I may not agree with their views the Christian liberal are usually more understanding and respectful of Christian and non Christian societies. A political view is only a view. It does not express fact. It only expresses the opinions of people.

All political parties have extremists too. I know many of liberals that hate religion so bad they want it illegal. Yet scream equal rights for everyone, and then go off on shooting sprees while screaming for more gun control. That is highly hypocritical.

Then you get the extremists on the other end who say they are part of "God's political party" who think it is ok to commit terrorist acts because people sin.
