Now let’s examine these same Passages from THE EXPOSITOR’S STUDY BIBLE.

Well..I disagree with Swaggart in that it must end at the cross too. I agree fully that it "starts at the cross".

There is the life of Christ after the cross. We are reconciled to God through the death of Christ on the cross but Christ is not still on the cross and neither are we.

Romans 5:8-10 (NASB)

Sin is not the issue, Sin is the result of the issue. it is the result of denying god and being forced to take care of self.

This issue is pride. The issue is we reject God, and thus are bound to take care of ourselves. No matter who we have to hurt to do it..

The issue is the heart.. The heart is wicked, and who can understand it.

The RCC doctrine has Christ hanging on the Cross. Not I or Pastor Swaggart. Re-read my post again.

This is an interesting suggestion.
I am concerned about the idea that HG is concerned about the heart state.

Now from my perspective unresolved sin, sin that is active and obvious is left unresolved
breaks our communion with the Lord.

Now within HG theology this is not true, because the sin is actually forgiven before it is
committed. So though there may be a sentiment as not being ideal, it is not a stumbling
block.

But for us the sin is a serious issue that needs to be resolved asap.
Also the whole process of sanctification is working through ones life and being transformed
into the likeness of Christ. So key to this is being aware of this change happening and
progress being made, which appears absent from anything in HG practise and teaching.

So I am not attempting to slander anyone, this is just a simple observation from our
perspective.

I Corinthians

Paul said:

“For Christ sent me not to baptize (presents to us a Cardinal Truth), but to Preach the Gospel (the manner in which one may be saved from sin): not with wisdom of words (intellectualism is not the Gospel), lest the Cross of Christ should be made of none effect. “And I, Brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom (means that Paul depended not on oratorical abilities, nor did he delve into philosophy, which was the rage of that particular day), declaring unto you the Testimony of God (which is Christ and Him Crucified).

Paul also said, “But God forbid that I should glory (boast) save in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ (what the opponents of Paul sought to escape at the price of insincerity is the Apostle’s only basis of exultation), by Whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.” (The only way we can overcome the world, and I mean the only way, is by placing our Faith exclusively in the Cross of Christ, and keeping it there [Gal. 6:14).)​

The Words of Christ

After His Resurrection, with His Disciples still not believing that He has risen from the dead, He suddenly appeared to two of His Disciples as they were going to a village called Emmaus. The Disciples did not recognize Who He was; they thought He was merely a stranger. The Scripture says, “And He said unto them, What manner of communications are these that you have one to another, as you walk, and are sad?” (Lk. 24:17). They began to relate to Him all the things which recently had happened.

“Then He said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the Prophets have spoken:
“Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into His glory? And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded unto them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself” (Lk. 24:25-27). The Cross of Christ is the foundation principle of all Biblical Doctrine. It is the foundation because it is the first principle of Redemption, brought about in the Mind of God even before the foundation of the world (I Pet. 1:18-20). This means that every single doctrine must be built on the foundation of Christ and the Cross, or else, in some way, it will be spurious. And that’s the problem with the modern Church; it is building doctrines on other foundations.

Paul addressed this by saying: “According to the Grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master-builder (in essence Paul, under Christ, founded the Church), I have laid the foundation (Jesus Christ and Him Crucified), and another builds thereon (speaks of all Preachers who followed thereafter, even unto this very moment, and have built upon this foundation). But let every man take heed how he builds thereupon. (All must preach the same Doctrine Paul preached, in essence, “Jesus Christ and Him Crucified.”) “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid (anything other than the Cross is another foundation, and therefore unacceptable to the Lord)¸ which is Jesus Christ (Who He is, God manifest in the flesh, and what He did, Redemption through the Cross [I Cor. 3:10-11]).

In I Corinthians 1:17, which we have just quoted, the Holy Spirit through the Apostle tells us exactly what the Gospel is. To be brief, it is the “Cross of Christ.” As our Lord said to me, “The answer for which you seek is found in the Cross,” in effect, He actually said, “In the Cross, and only in the Cross.”

Sin was resolved on the cross.

Thats your first issue Peter.. You deny the cross has th epower to break sin, If it can, There is no sin issue for those in Christ. Only a maturity issue.

Jesus said it was finished 2000 years ago. If sin was not forgiven at the cross. Peter, EG, Grace777, non of us will receive forgiveness, Unless Christ comes to die again..

The stumbling block is the pride of religion. It says I am a good person it says I am more righteous than I really am It rejects it has a sin issue, When in reality, All sin, and fall short of Gods glory. that includes all of us, Not just the people you think are sinners.

I am sorry, But you take certain sins as an issue, and thats fine, Even the heathen thinks some sins are seriously wrong. yet they reject Christ. (the pharisee thought sin was an issue, And they also thought they were doing God a favor by crucifying Christ, See where human thought is not a great idea to determine what is right and wrong. and how we should use scripture.

It is God transforming us as we ALLOW him, not us sanctifying ourselves. That is self promotion. and glorification, Not God.

HG people understand sanctification is a process. and we should continue to run the race. so this is jus tmore slander from someone who does not want to know what others believe. If you were not told over and over this was true, and this is what we really believe, I could agree, and we could go from there, But it becomes slander when you continue to make the same accusations you have been shown over and over are not true.

What seperates you from HG is you are trying to justify/sanctify yourself. while we are trying to get out of Gods way to let him justify and sanctify us.
 
Sin does NOT separate the believer who is in Christ from Christ Himself - his new inner man is free from sin. Sins doesn't contaminate Christ who lives in our heart.

Sin DOES distort our view of God, ourselves and those we love.

Take a look at how Paul addressed the "sinning" in 1 Corinthians and the believer.

Paul told the Corinthians who they were in Christ..then corrected their behavior...he didn't say you were all unsaved now...

..he told them who they were in Christ..saints..they have His righteousness, holiness..etc.

These are the very same people that were causing divisions and strife amongst each other. Men going to have sex with the temple prostitutes, believers taking each other to court, people getting drunk at Communion..etc. Paul called them carnal Christians and yet at the same time called them "saints" - that they have the righteousness of God, that they were complete in Him, that they had the mind of Christ, that they were holy...etc...that Christ was confirmed as being in them.

Then Paul goes on to say in verse 8 " who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Paul gives them their true identity in Christ then goes on to describe what this true life in Christ will look like. Paul says later on to "Awake to righteousness and sin not" This is a call to see who you are in Christ and in seeing this - sin will fall off of us like dead leaves off a tree.

I agree! and for further clarification the finished work of Christ is also taking about the resurrection and ascension of Christ too. Without the resurrection we would not be made new creations in Christ Jesus.

There is a process...

1) the cross ( where we have died too - this is how we carry our cross daily - recognizing that we have died on the cross with Jesus )

2) the burial - Christ was buried - and so were we. This shows that we too were buried with Him and water baptism is an outward symbol of what happened to us in Christ.

3) the quickening - made alive by the Holy Spirit which brought Jesus back from the dead - through His own blood. Hebrews 13:20 ( we too were quickened by the Holy Spirit )

4) the resurrection - in which Jesus was raised up and we too have been raised up with Him. Romans 6

5) the ascension - we too with Christ has ascended with Him to sit with Him at the right hand of the Father. Eph. 2

In order to grow up in Christ - we need to walk in all of these truths but the cross is the start and how we should be viewing ourselves and others as having been crucified with Him. Gal.2:20 Romans 6:6

But why? When I watch him on TV he's no different than any other televangelist. And like any televangelist, he has his share of false doctrines that he teaches. You don't like it when a thread you intended for trashing becomes one for encouraging and building up the Body of Christ instead of tearing it down?

Kind of refreshing, don't you think, and the opposite of what we see some doing to the threads that are posted here in CC that DO seek to encourage and build up the Body and then others come to trash them . . .

Yep! Many of us do love to lift up the Name of Jesus and His wonderful love and grace towards us.

When we know about His work for us in that we are forgiven and righteous in Him - does this make us want to "go out and sin all we want?" No, a thousand times No!

It makes us fall in love the Lord our God reverently and we are in awe of what He has done. We see His love and grace and we are thankful and full of His life in us.

We are like the woman caught in adultery - once we know we are not condemned because of what He has done - we are enabled to walk in His enabling grace to live lives that bring forth His fruit and honor to His name.

And we can do all this without having a mind full of malice towards others in the body of Christ and we don't have to slander them in order to discredit the wonderful finished work of the gospel of the grace of Christ for us all who believe.

Nor are their mockings and insults going to stop us from declaring the beauty of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are NOT ashamed of the gospel of Christ. For "it" is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.

We proclaim "Him"....He is our life!
