Some people will say that snakes cannot talk, and yet animals and humans share a great deal of understood communication between them. The snake was punished for it's role in the sin of Adam and Eve and the subsequent fall of all creation. (Genesis 3:14 So the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, "Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.)
From the Word, it says serpent:
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Genesis 3:1

Either way, there is a vital lesson to be learned from the serpent:
Now the serpent was more subtle than any other wild creature that the LORD God had made. Gen 3:1a RSV
Satan is EXTREMELY subtle in how he goes about tempting us, be it immoral sexual behavior, prideful behavior, or whatever. If you have ears, pay attention.
Perhaps back then before the world was marred from sin - the animals could speak...maybe not with the speech we use but the could communicate with Adam Eve some how? Obviously Eve wasn't shocked when a serpent spoke to her.
If it was us you think we would be shocked that an animal could talk and we would say " Do you know Francis the talking mule? - he talks too"
( obviously I have no scripture for it - it doesn't seem to be much of a priority with the Lord right now in this present age )

Balaams donkey also spoke and he didn't think anything of it either lol
Maybe I'm being naive but perhaps we should just believe scripture like a child?
I think the key is in the word "the" ....Adam had already named all the beasts of the field on the 6th day before Eve was made....so...to me the word "the" as applied unto the serpent is indicative of who it is actually speaking about....not a serpent, but THE serpent......
Is not the devil called that OLD SERPENT......HE is also called a DRAGON......it seems his heavenly form was that of Lucifer and his fallen state is that of a dragon of serpent..........

So there is scripture after all about animals speaking.....lol....good one. So, what do you think about Francis the talking mule in the video clip?
They are actually finding out that every thing speaks it's own language....for example...
1. Deer have some 220 plus vocalizations
2. A bucket of minnows and a high frequency microphone reveals mass communication
3. The whales sing songs with verses and stanzas
etc......I have personally seen things on a deer stand that cannot be described as anything but speech....and friends as well....One story involves doe and a fawn....the doe looked at the fawn and it's mouth moved like it was speaking....the fawn immediately ran into the brush and lay down.....the doe took off and disappeared for like 2 hours....when it came back it uttered a slight grunt and the fawn got up and ran straight to the doe and they both took off through the brush...
I have also seen a j-whopping doe come in and survey an area for about 5 minutes and then lift her head and make a clicking sound....immediately about 30 does and fawns came running in from out of no where and began to mill around.....

Maybe the whole world had one language, like telepathic and animal language was confounded also?

OK, we need to recognize that the bible does not always have things presented in the order that we think that they should be presented. In a sense the serpent was called a serpent before he was a serpent. A serpent as we think of it(snake) did not talk to Eve, here is why. The creature that talked to Eve was cursed to be "a serpent" in the sense that he was cursed to crawl on his belly(that would be a snake). Since his curse was to "crawl on his belly" therefore we can deduct from that, that at the time he spoke to Eve and until God cursed him to "crawl on his belly", that he in fact DID NOT crawl on his belly and therefore was not a serpent in the sense of being a snake. If the serpent was ALREADY a snake when he talked to Eve then how could God curse him to "crawl on his belly"? That would be like cursing a man that from henceforth you shall walk on two legs(where is the curse?). We are confused because the beast that tempted Eve was called a serpent BEFORE he was actually in the form of a serpent.

Let's listen to creation that speaks forth God's glory. 
- mountains and hills break forth into singing

- rocks cry out
- the heavens pour forth speech
- trees of the field clap their hands

Our Heavenly Father never leaves us guessing. Satan has many names and titles:
Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels (fallen angels) were cast out with him.
If you were ever confused who Satan is, John calls him by the names he used while playing his different roles on earth. The "dragon" is Satan's role in that first earth age when one-third of all of God's children followed him. Satan's evil spirit is allowed on earth now, along with his demons. However, you haven't seen Satan in person yet. Satan and his angels, both physically and bodily, will come to earth just as they did in Genesis 6.
When Satan is cast out it will be as it was in the days of Noah. This is what Jesus said in Matthew 24:37: "But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." Mankind will be mixing with the angels, and the women even marrying them just as was going on in Noah's day before the flood. Sodomy will be common, and all forms of filth will be made public and accepted and considered normal. The world and the kenite influence is preparing us, and our mind to accept all forms of filth in sex and marriage as being natural, and to consider their perversion as being of God.
Your acceptance and view of this filth of sodomy and religious form will tell you to what state of depravity your mind has sunk. The condition of your soul will be determined by what you know, and how you stand on these issues, at Satan's arrival to earth.
I think it was something other than a snake.

Satan came in the image of a serpent, latter on with God cursing it we perceive a image of a snake. Latter on in scripture he is a roaring lion.....Angel of light....so on...all sorts of images.
The Lord said we should not have any graven images of him.....so where does that lead up to?

They worshipped the image of the beast..it could talk, walk, cry, laugh and bleed. It's a statue.
Notice the children of Israel had a time with idols and images, some sects of Christianity and the RCC use and display them along with worshipping them.

Interesting concept.....many ancient cultures have pics, paintings, drawings of dragons.....some have legs.....some do not......just a though as Satan is called that OLD DRAGON.....
They found a fossil of what appears to be a snake with legs maybe...20 years ago? If I'm not mistaken, the fossil was found somewhere near Jerusalem...
