2 Corinthians 3:1-3 KJV
1) Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
2) Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
The condemnation is sin= the wages of sin is death Rom6:23 sin is breaking the law of God. 1John3:4
3) Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink,
Its a law not written by ink- which is what men wrote with scrolls
but with the Spirit of the living God;
Which is the Ten Commandments- the only law written by the Holy Spirit of Truth - the Spirit of the living God Exo31:18
not in tables of stone,
No longer on tables of stone
but in fleshy tables of the heart.
but now tables of the heart. Which is the New Covenant- God's laws in the minds and hearts of His New Covenant believers. Heb8:10 Not everyone is in this covenant of faith with God because they refuse the law of God Rom8:7-8

Some think the sabbath is not important, and can be replaced with any other day of their choosing. its part of the Ten commandments the Covenant, but they refuse God's words, its unfortunate for them, they fight God words by any means, not understanding but following words and doctrine of Men instead. its terrible really to witness this daily. God said REMEMBER The sabbath to keep it Holy, I guess they don't want to.

They do not understand the sabbath is a test for us, God wants to see what we will do, some people lack the wisdom to fear God. @Aaron56

When we go back to the beginning, we see something very important. Before the commandments were even written on stone, God was already testing His people with the Sabbath.

In Exodus 16, the words “prove” and “whether they will walk in my law” show very plainly that this was a test.

Here is the verse:

“Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.” (Exodus 16:4, KJV)

The word “prove” means to test. God was not only feeding them, He was examining their obedience.

Then when some disobeyed:

“And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws? See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath…” (Exodus 16:28–29, KJV)

So the Sabbath itself became the point of testing. Would they rest as commanded, or go out and do their own will?

This same idea is confirmed elsewhere:

“You shall remember all the way which the LORD your God led you these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.” (Deuteronomy 8:2, KJV)

And again:

“Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna… that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end.” (Deuteronomy 8:16, KJV)

So when we connect these passages, the meaning becomes simple and clear:

God gave the manna.
God set apart the seventh day.
God watched what the people would do.

The Sabbath was not just about rest. It revealed the heart. It showed who trusted God enough to obey Him, even when it required stopping their own work.

In this way, the Sabbath is indeed a test from God, a test of obedience, trust, and love toward His commandments. it was also to prove to those who follow this blessed Commandments that GOD PROVIDES! some people just dont get it and might never if they do not REPENT and stop FIGHTING GODS CLEAR WORDS.

Open your hearts people before it is too late, Dont you see the events going on Now, look at prophecy the end is near all the prophecies are coming together NOW!
God could not be more clear on the Sabbath who He made it for and why. People do not fully understand what they are rejecting sadly.

You are saying this but the Bible does not. Can you not see this?

2 Corinthians 3:1-8 KJV
1) Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
2) Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
3) Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
4) And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
5) Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
6) Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
7) But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
8) How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?

Much love!

There's two parts to this passage- the law of God going from tablets of stone - which law are they only speaking that was written by the Spirit of the living God on tablets of stone, the Ten Commandments and where did it go, on tablets of the heart, it says this plainly. 2Cor 3:3 which is the New Covenant Heb8:10

2Cor3:7 is speaking of the ministration, the wages of sin is death Rom6:23 so quite plainly by this passage 2Cor3:7 we know breaking the Ten Commandments is sin. There is no death penalty for keeping the Ten Commandments, only for breaking them. Jesus now ministers from a heavenly Temple, where there is still the Ten Commandments under His mercy seat Exo25:21 Exo31:18 Deut 4:13 Rev 15:5 Rev 11:19 or atonement seat. The law itself was never the issue, the law is perfect Psa19:7 holy, just and good Rom7:12 the issue is our sinful flesh that makes one not subject to the law of God Rom8:7-8. If we are under the ministry of the Spirit and are connected to Christ, there is no condemnation because we are keeping the commandments through our love, faith and the power of the Holy Spirit John14:15-18 Rom8:4 John15:10 its when we take our eyes off Jesus and start depending on self, we will fail every time.

Its just common sense is Paul teaching to go worship others gods and steal and dishonor God Rom2:21-23 and be a sinner Rom7:7 and be an enmity to God Rom8:7-8 to disobey God Mat5:19-30 not love our neighbor Rom13:9 where Jesus says depart from Me Mat7:23 no its why we have to be very careful with Paul's writings 2Peter 3:16.

Perhaps you might quote passage and highlight the words that state this plainly.

So back in our loop, I have addressed this in detail https://christianchat.com/threads/t...the-covenant-did-you-know.221336/post-5724548 and you have yet to address my address.

Why don't we do it this way, which law was written by the Spirit of the living God- please quote it from Scripture.

So you are again deflecting. That's OK, I in fact know that you cannot show the words in that passage that read as you claim. Because it's not there.

Will you agree on this very simple matter? That this verse does not actually say it is the Law written on their hearts?

Much love!

So I take it you do not know which law is written by the Spirit of the living God Paul is quoting, otherwise you would have just answered the question.

I'm not playing along with your deflection, that's all.

You have a way of sidestepping things, and I'm not interested in that.

This is how it works.

I ask you something you don't want to answer, so instead you post something else, ask me a question, and then fault me when I don't answer, while not answering me.

Do you realize how transparent that is?

You will not show me the words in 2 Corinthians 3:3 that plainly say the Law is written on their hearts, neither shall I answer you.

Much love!

I figured you wouldn't answer a direct question on something you are quoting and trying to teach, yet don't know what it is, otherwise you would just answer the question that explains what you are quoting.

If you are not going to answer, there is not much more to talk about, so I will move on. If you wish to answer that question I will continue otherwise I will agree to disagree and it will get sorted out in God's time.

Be well.

Right. OK. This way you will never have to my prior request that you show where those words appear in that verse, which is a win for you, because they don't, and you will not have to acknowledge that truth.

So there you have it.

I have no problem answering your question, its self-explanatory though. Tablets of stone- tablets of the heart- the Ten Commandments is what was written on tablets Deut4:13 the location changed from tablets of stone (outward) to tablets of the heart (inward) not the law as God promised Psa89:34 Mat5:18-19. Why its the only Law being spoken of.

I will answer my own question for those interested.

What law is written by the Spirit of the living God. There is only one.

Exo 31:18 And when He had made an end of speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.

The tablets of stone is the Ten Commandments and what is the finger of God?

Luke 11:20 But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.
Mat 12:28 But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.

The Ten Commandments is the only Law written by the Spirit of the living God. The Holy Spirit of Truth. God makes no mistakes, we do by not fully trusting Him.

You said it was plainly stated in that passage, do you remember?

But the passage is speaking of letters of commendation.

If, as you say, the Law is written in your heart . . . who did that writing?

You are correct that it's a mistake to not trust God, so definitely trust Him! Accept His Word as written.

Do you see how you are continuing to deflect from something you don't want to address?

Much love!

The Holy Spirit is the one doing the writing, the same living Spirit who wrote the Law, the Ten Commandments, He is the one enabling the believer to keep through our cooperation and love John14:15-18 sadly, not everyone does cooperate Rom8:7-8.

Romans 4:15 because the law brings about wrath; for where there is no law there is no transgression.

1 John 3:8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

1John2:4 4 ;He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Why we have to be careful which character we are reflecting.

No law = no sin. The devil plainly sinned in heaven why he was cast out. Why do you think God's government has no laws. No government can uphold righteousness (right-doing) without laws. Why would God's government be any different. God never left it up to man to write His holy laws- He personally wrote them Exo31:18 they are in His heavenly temple Rev11:19 which the earthy temple was copied from Heb 9:23-24 Heb8:1-5.

We have had human experiments of lawlessness and we see the result of that hence Portland and Washington- why would you think God's heavenly government is in chaos.

Its why many people will not be happy in heaven John3:19-21, because there will be no more sin, because everyone will be keeping the law of God- no one will be breaking the Ten Commandments.

Isa 48:18 Oh, that you had heeded My commandments!
Then your peace would have been like a river,
And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.
You really are deceived. You do not know what it means to be saved and born again. Does Jesus have to obey God's law? Does He observe the sabbath in heaven?

I'll remind you once more, not for your sake, but for those who might be persuaded by your false doctrine:

"The goal of our instruction is the love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and a sincere faith. Some have strayed from these ways and turned aside to empty talk. They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not understand what they are saying or that which they so confidently assert.

Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it legitimately. We realize that law is not enacted for the righteous, but for the lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinful, for the unholy and profane, for killers of father or mother, for murderers, for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave traders and liars and perjurers, and for anyone else who is averse to sound teaching that agrees with the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted."

I agree that you SDA legalists are subject to the Law. You are averse to the sound teaching that agrees with the glorious gospel. Good luck with being sinlessly perfect on judgement day.

They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not understand what they are saying or that which they so confidently assert.

Can you see how mercy and justice come together in Christ.

The law is not against us or evil
The law reveals sin and sin is what kills.

Rom 7:7-8
7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. 8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

Rom 7:11-14
11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. 12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. 13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. 14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

As a carnal person we all need salvation from sin. We are all doomed to death because we have all sinned.

We have salvation from.....
a. The law, or
b. Sin and death.

It is not the law... we are saved from the penalty of transgressing the law but the law still reveals sin.

Did Jesus die to save us from the law or Did Jesus die to save us from sin.

The law is not the enemy
It is Holy, just and Good.

Being saved from sin is not done by removing the law that reveals sin. It is achieved by a born again transformed heart. Motivated by love.

It is done by imputed righteousness and by imparted righteousness.

Both are a gift from Jesus.

We need faith
