Do you not know that Lord Jesus instituted a new covenant? It was in His blood, more precious than any material thing. How can you be so ignorant? Do you reject Paul's teaching? Paul, the arch Pharisee? What did he say about the law ?

New covenant. New Life, the life of Christ. New law, the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.

Keep this in mind: if you fail to keep God's law perfectly, then you are under a curse. And don't tell me that you keep God's law perfectly. The law does not require faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please God.

The law brought death. You are trying to tell me that God wants to put us back under a regime that killed us? That makes no sense.
what did Jesus say? does he not have full authority in heaven and earth, the commandments are mostly the dont's , the line we should never cross. if we follow the 2 commandments He gave us we know we fulfill the law, to love God with all our heart, and Love one another, because he said so. in the beatitudes Jesus spoke of what to look for in character, there are what we should need to emulate;

The Beatitudes

Mat 5:2 and he opened his mouth and taught them, saying,

Mat 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Mat 5:4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Mat 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Mat 5:6 Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Mat 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Mat 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Mat 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called sons of God.

Mat 5:10 Blessed are they that have been persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Mat 5:11 Blessed are ye when men shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Mat 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets that were before you.

to these belong the Kingdom of Heaven.

I am not a legalist, I despise the pharisee, they kept the letters of the laws and added so moch to it and made it a bueden, thay were corrupt, these days are over. Once Jesus ascended to heaven the Holy SPirit was freely given to thise who love God and listen to him.

the new covenant is all about a new heart, a changed heart.

Jesus also said;

Christ Came to Fulfill the Law

Mat 5:17 Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfil.

Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished.

Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.

I listen to Christ the proper way, the way he showed us, I follow him and him alone and will follow no other.

The written law under the old covenant let people know they had sinned. The new covenant is very different from the old one. Applicable law is internal now, not external, written in the minds and placed on the hearts of believers. That internal law enlightens a person they have sinned.
Sin is the transgression of the law 1John3:4
Through the law we become conscious of sin Rom3:20
Therefore, you must have heartfelt consciousness of sin if you were to disregard/'try and ignore the law placed within you, nothing else is possible. And you do not need to read of written law to have such consciousness of sin now:
You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. 2Cor3:3

''''Do be remove the law and make coveting not a sin? Or do we die to the flesh, and become free from transgressing the law?. We are not under the law because the grace of God forgives us but also because the Spirit of God does not transgress it.''''

The above does not allow for the fallibility of man. Taken at face value it would crush the sincere. Just as, the pharisees of Jesus day crushed the people with their demands.
For those who have and rely on an internal law there is no hiding from it. They know they are transgressors of the law/they commit sin
I asked TMS if he was a transgressor of the law, he did not answer

there were many covenants the new testament is speaking mostly of the (Mosaic) covenant with the chosen people of God, saved from the Egyptians that God brought out towards the promised Land. the Covenant with Abraham was different,

you are very confused and try to pass and force your pseudo knowledge on people, its a terrible thing to do.

here are a list of the covenant God made with his people;

Throughout the Bible, God made several covenants. Some were made with individuals, others with the nation of Israel, and the New Covenant was made through Jesus Christ. Here are the major covenants in the order they appear in Scripture.

1. The Covenant with Noah (All Living Creatures)

After the flood, God promised never again to destroy the whole earth by a flood. The rainbow was given as the sign of this everlasting covenant.

And I establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. (Genesis 9:11)

I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. (Genesis 9:13)

2. The Covenant with Abraham

God promised Abraham descendants as numerous as the stars, the land of Canaan, and that through his offspring all nations would be blessed. Circumcision was given as the sign of this covenant.

And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and be thou a blessing. (Genesis 12:2)

And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed. (Genesis 22:18)

And ye shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of a covenant betwixt me and you.(Genesis 17:11)

3. The Covenant with Isaac

God renewed the promises made to Abraham and confirmed them to his son Isaac.

And I will establish the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; and I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven... and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed. (Genesis 26:3-4)

4. The Covenant with Jacob (Israel)

God confirmed the same covenant to Jacob, changing his name to Israel and promising that kings and nations would come from him.

And the land which I gave unto Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.(Genesis 35:12)

5. The Sinai (Mosaic) Covenant

After bringing Israel out of Egypt, God entered into a covenant with the nation at Mount Sinai. He gave them His commandments and promised blessings for obedience.

Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be mine own possession from among all peoples. (Exodus 19:5)

And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even the ten commandments.(Deuteronomy 4:13)

6. The Covenant with the Tribe of Levi (Priesthood)

God established a covenant with the priests descended from Levi, giving them the responsibility of serving before Him.

My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him that he might fear. (Malachi 2:5)

For the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the LORD.(Deuteronomy 18:5)

7. The Covenant with Phinehas

Because of Phinehas' zeal for God's holiness, God promised his descendants a lasting priesthood.

Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace: and it shall be unto him, and to his seed after him, the covenant of an everlasting priesthood. (Numbers 25:12-13)

8. The Covenant with David

God promised David that his throne would endure forever, ultimately fulfilled in Jesus, the Son of David.

Thy house and thy kingdom shall be made sure for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever. (2 Samuel 7:16)

I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant. (Psalm 89:3)

9. The New Covenant

The prophets foretold a new covenant in which God would write His law on people's hearts, forgive sins, and give His Spirit. Jesus declared this covenant at the Last Supper through His own blood.

Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah. (Jeremiah 31:31)

I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it. (Jeremiah 31:33)

This cup is the new covenant in my blood, even that which is poured out for you. (Luke 22:20)

If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments. (John 14:15)

Other Covenants Mentioned in Scripture

These are also called covenants, though they are either renewals of earlier covenants or more specific promises.

The Covenant at Moab

Moses renewed God's covenant with the second generation of Israel before they entered the Promised Land.

These are the words of the covenant which Jehovah commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horeb. (Deuteronomy 29:1)

God's Covenant with Day and Night

God used the regular cycle of day and night as a picture of the certainty of His promises.

If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night... then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant. (Jeremiah 33:20-21)

The Everlasting Covenant

Several passages speak of God's everlasting covenant. Depending on the context, this refers either to His enduring promises to Abraham or to the everlasting New Covenant established through the Messiah.

And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant. (Genesis 17:7)

Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them. (Ezekiel 37:26)

Taken together, these covenants show God's unfolding plan throughout history. He made promises to Noah for the whole earth, to Abraham and his descendants, to Israel at Sinai, to David concerning the coming King, and finally established the New Covenant through Jesus. Rather than replacing God's earlier promises, the New Covenant brings them to their intended fulfillment by offering forgiveness, writing God's law on the hearts of His people, and extending the blessing promised to Abraham to all nations.

No need to reply.

Not a legalist? You are living under the old covenant. The old covenant is the Law.

@Gideon300

Here are the two occasions where the Father's voice is heard from heaven concerning Jesus.

1. At Jesus' baptism

Although the Father does not use the exact words "listen to Him" here, He publicly identifies Jesus as His beloved Son, showing that Jesus is the One to whom people should give heed.

And lo, a voice out of the heavens, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. (Matthew 3:17)

The same event is also recorded in:

  • Mark 1:11
  • Luke 3:22

2. At the Transfiguration

Here the Father explicitly commands those present to listen to Jesus.

While he was yet speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. (Matthew 17:5)

The same command is also recorded in:

And there came a voice out of the cloud, This is my beloved Son: hear ye him. (Mark 9:7)

And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my Son, my chosen: hear ye him. (Luke 9:35)

These two events form a powerful testimony. At Jesus' baptism, the Father publicly declares who Jesus is. At the Transfiguration, the Father not only identifies Him again but also gives the clear command: hear ye him. This places Jesus as God's appointed Teacher and the One whose words all people are to receive and obey. As Jesus Himself said:

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my sayings, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I spake, the same shall judge him in the last day. (John 12:48)

you just don't get it, just listen and do what Jesus said, this is what we are supposed to do, listen to him.
I do listen to Jesus, right now. He is the Living Word, and He leads me. The law is of no use to me in the daily routine of life. It does not tell me to visit someone who needs a bit of encouragement. It does not tell me to take a different route because there is an accident and my usual way is blocked. It does not tell me that my wife is in need of a hug.

The law is stone. You can't have a relationship with a stone. Jesus said that if your eye offends you, pluck it out. Have you done that? I used to be a car nut. I saw a magnificent Ferrari a few years ago. I started to admire it. Lord Jesus said to me, "That is the lust of the eyes". I confessed my sin. I still have both my eyes.

There are no loopholes when you walk in the Spirit. And that is why it is superior to following the commandments.

I agree that Jesus leads His people every day through the Holy Spirit, i have expressed this on this thread already. But the Holy Spirit never replaces what Jesus already commanded. He helps us live it.

The Ten Commandments were never meant to tell you which road to drive home or when your wife needs a hug. That is not their purpose. They reveal God's moral will by teaching us what is right and wrong: love God, do not worship idols, honor His name, keep His holy day, honor your parents, do not murder, commit adultery, steal, lie, or covet.

Daily guidance and God's moral law are two different things. They work together, not against each other.

When Jesus tells you to encourage someone, is He telling you to break one of God's commandments? No. He is leading you to fulfill them, because Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: love therefore is the fulfilment of the law. (Romans 13:10 ASV) I have also said to in my posts.

You also mentioned Jesus saying to pluck out your eye. Jesus was using strong imagery to teach us to remove whatever causes us to sin, not to literally blind ourselves. He did not abolish God's commandments by saying that. In the same sermon He also said, Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfil.(Matthew 5:17 ASV) Then He warned, Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:19 ASV)

Walking in the Spirit is never presented by Jesus as an alternative to obedience. In fact, Jesus joined them together.

If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments. (John 14:15 ASV), How many times must I repeat His clear ans simple words?

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me. (John 14:21 ASV)

If a man love me, he will keep my word. (John 14:23 ASV)

If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. (John 15:10 ASV)

Notice what Jesus did not say. He did not say, "Walk in the Spirit instead of keeping My commandments." He said that those who love Him keep His commandments.

The Spirit is not greater than Jesus' commandments because the Spirit is the One who reminds us of them and empowers us to obey them. Jesus said, But the Comforter, even the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said unto you. (John 14:26 ASV)

So the choice is not "the Law or the Spirit." The real choice is between following our own desires or following the Spirit, and the Spirit always leads us into obedience to Christ, never away from it.

The commandments tell us what pleases God. The Holy Spirit gives us the wisdom to know how and when to apply them in everyday life. They are not enemies. They are perfectly united because they both come from the same God.

A legalist is a person who relies on strict obedience to religious laws and moral codes to earn salvation or favor with God, rather than focusing on faith and grace.

You have no right to judge people's motives.

The reason why I hold the law as important to keep is based on John 14:15.

If Jesus perfectly kept the law, and Jesus is living in me, dwelling in my heart, I should reflect the character of Jesus.

Not to be saved but because I want Jesus to renew in me the image of God.

DID JESUS Not Honour His father and His mother? Did He kill? Did He commit adultery? Did He steal? Did He bear false witness? Did He covet?

No.. if Jesus is living in your heart will you be doing any of these things?
No...

The law is a reflection of the character of Jesus.

Did Jesus have other gods? Did Jesus make any graven images or bow down to them, or serve them? Did Jesus take the name of God in vain? Did Jesus not Remember the sabbath day, did He not keep it holy, or did He keep Sunday as the Sabbath?

No....

If Jesus lives in your heart will he change His attitude towards the law.

Will he disobey the law today?

When can only obey the law by the power of Christ in us.

It is not legalism to surrender your heart to Christ and allow Jesus to work in you.

How many people do you know who do not transgress the law/live sinless lives?
BTW
If you read a later post of mine things should become clearer
All have sinned

But that is not an excuse to continue in sin

You can tell yourself that you will never stop sinning and you can justify your sinful life because you are weak.

But we are told to come to Jesus.

Faith in Jesus results in a new heart, and a new life.

Faith in Jesus empowers us to overcome.

Can you do all things through Christ?
Phi 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Don't look at people around you look at Christ and He will give you victory over every sin

"Go and sin no more" were the words of Jesus. It is not impossible

It is not impossible to those that have faith

If we(John includes himself in the we) claim(present tense) to be without sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us 1John1:8

Go and sin no more
Jesus told the crowds not one of them obeyed the law. Was he really telling the woman to do what he knew no one else did? And if he was, what need would would the woman have of a saviour from sin according to your understanding of those words?
Go and commit adultery no more
It may sound nice what you write. However, sin is written about in two different ways in the bible. One way you can stop sinning, the other you will not whilst in a body of flesh.
Just because people know they will not be sinless on this earth does not mean they want to justify sin.
If a person literally believes they will or can perfectly obey the letter of all applicable law, they do not understand what that would entail

you forget as i did at some point that them before Jesus ascended the Holy spirit was not yet sent, today the believers in Christ have access to the Holy spirit that makes all things possible, on our own it would be almost impossible is not impossible to not sin in this corrupt world. we are surrounded by it and confronted to sin daily. God tests us that is certain, I am right now and its hard, under attack spiritually for 5 months now. but its almost over. perseverance is the key.

Here’s a sample list of what it would take never to commit sin, assuming you believe it would be sin not to obey Jesus teaching. In order not to sin, you must perfectly without slip obey the following list, and more besides. Let’s start with the Ten Commandments:

Do you ever put anything before God in your life?

Do you ever build any graven images in your mind?

Do you always honour your parents without exception.

Have you ever looked at a woman with lust in your eye? (Jesus ratified the commandment)

Have you ever fibbed about anyone, or been untruthful about a person in anyway?

Have you dwelt on any impure thought?

Do you ever desire ANYTHING of your neighbours, whether material goods or a member of their household?

Do you fully obey the law relating to the inner man, the law only you and God need know you break?

If someone asked to lend from you would we gladly lend to them without ever expecting anything back?

If someone stole from you, would you offer them more than what they stole with nothing but love in your heart for them?

Do you not invite friends or family home for a meal, but rather the poor, blind, lame and beggars?

If you have ever fasted, have you even hinted to anyone you are fasting?

Do you truly in your heart love your enemies, those who may malign, harass or persecute you?

Do you leap for joy if you are persecuted?

Do you always truly love all those you come into contact with in thought, word or deed, constantly, including your enemies, those who may be unkind to you, persecute or harass you?

If we(John includes himself in the we) claim(present tense) to be without sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us 1John1:8
We have all sinned..

So to claim we are without sin is a lie.

To believe we have never sinned is to believe we do not need a saviour.

John sinned and we have all sinned.. True.

Claim to be without sin = claim that there is no sin on record, claim to have never sinned, to be without any sin.

To be tempted is not a sin. I do not walk around continuously sinning, so John is not referring to a continual state of sinning.

John was indeed not referring to what Paul described as being a slave to sin. But he spoke in the present tense: If we claim....
But there is a difference between not being a slave to sin and not committing sin. And Im sure, in your own denomination people would also view sin in two different ways.
Did you read that list I put up to 2Christ?

Paul told born again christians in the present tense:
The letter of the Ten Commandments kills.
And, if people actually understand what obeying that law entails, they should know why Paul stated that
Thou shalt NOT, no wiggle room for error, perfectly obey that law or stand guilty before it. And you can transgress that law without any outward act being neccessary
