If he doesn't know how to approach this yet, he needs to contact other pastors he trusts and start a inter-church support system. (There may already be one in your area.) Get 5-10 pastors together asking the important stuff, and that is 25-600 years of wisdom willing to share and pass on. He needs that.

As for you? If you are anything like you are on here, you already pass on the love and support. It seems to be your on-switch/go-to-move already ingrained in you. You already are that empathetic ear/heart. My fear is if you keep trying to help everyone who needs your empathy, there is nothing left. I became so overwhelmed with the problems around me I totally lost all emotions for about a month. I was a brand new Christian, a brand new 16 year old, (with 11 months, 29 days experience being 15 lol), and a month later Mom died. You needneedneed time to be you too.

You need time to smell the passionflowers, time to wipe off your nose and chin after licking a bowl of something delicious, time to watch sparrows fight over a bread crumb, and time to memorize We Didn't Start the Fire. (No particular reason, but I've always loved to try and keep up with very fast songs and try to catch all the references. lol)

He has gotten his pastor buddies together to talk.
He has even stepped down to let them teach the past few weeks so he could watch.
And they talk about whatever (I'm not there when they talk lol I've seen the guest pastors but don't know them personally :p)

Sigh....yeah yeah I know....
I take time to myself. I know when I need time to myself and I excuse myself from the situation if I do need that.



As for the "I didn't start the fire"
No I don't think I'll ever be able to memorize that song haha
 
About the comment that said, usually blame the parents.

You can't really blame anyone. We don't know what's going on in someone else's mind, unless they tell us. In high school my brothers friend killed himself. The day it happened my Brother and him and another friend, went to the beach and had a great day. 2 hours later my brother gets a phone call that his friend killed himself. Should I blame my brother and the other friend? No, you can't. I worked with a man who was having financial problem's. He didn't show up for work one day, the next day his father found him dead in his apartment. None of us knew he felt that desperate.

Blaming doesn't help.

It's not a different spin. The unfortunate truth is, some people aren't strong enough to stop themselves, and thusly take the wrong way out. We aren't all brave enough to withstand the shadow of death. Some of us DO get cowardly and embrace it and go through with it. Sorry if that offends anyone, but it's true. It takes cowardice to follow through and it takes cowardice to chicken out and stay and realize that the problems are temporary but that solution isn't..

I am a woman. (No duh, huh?) I always think the men, particularly right after service, have the better conversations. And it absolutely drives me nuts when they have men's meetings. I know what goes on in women's meetings. I want to know what the men talk about. Especially pastors. lol

He's a long term troll -- posts some junk, laughs at our reactions, goes back into the woodwork for a while until the mods stop wondering if they should ban him, and then returns to repeat. It works for him.
