I agree, absolutely. :]
At the beginning of this past school year, I was feeling overwhelmed by all of the people I didn't know, not knowing who I should befriend and not having it in me. So, I asked God to show me who would be my friends.
While we were sitting in a hall meeting, I looked over and saw this one girl and God just gave me a very tangible feeling. HER. So, I talked to her and everything meshed so well. We became great friends but then she got super clingy and depended on me for absolutely everything., I couldn't handle the pressure and couldn't breath because she was always around.
I was questioning, "God, why did you want us to be friends? This relationship isn't healthy for either of us?" Finally, I confronted her and told her that I needed some space. I felt terrible, though, like I was the worst person in the world.
Eventually, our relationship got much better and by the end of the year, we were in a great, healthy relationship. I still didn't understand, though, why God so distinctly wanted us to be friends.
Last night, she messaged me on facebook (we don't see each other over the summer much) and told me that she's depressed and suicidal. I was able to remind her of a story she told me where God stopped her from killing herself once before. Because she had trusted me enough to tell me before and confide in me last night, God used our relationship and her trust in me to help her.
If I hadn't become her friend, who knows...
God does awesome things and we can't even tell until we look back and piece everything together.
