This site needs a blocking feature

I’m sure this isn’t the first thread on this topic. But really, can the site please add the ability to block other users rather than simply ignore them? What is the rationale for not having a blocking feature?
 
As a user and volunteer here, I have found the ignore button works sufficiently, provididing the same effect. Curious, why that is not sufficient for you?

I am not being confrontational, just curious to understand.

I think they can still post on your profile. Just not the privacy I was hoping for. Plus someone I blocked can still “follow” me which is creepy.

This is a forum, not facebook. Different kind of community. The blocking feature you are wanting would not be of any use here, and would be abused heavily by... Um... "Unpleasant" people.

However there is a better than 83% chance you have me on ignore, so you will never know I said this.

? If you being stalked take up with mods. Report it and any tech issues post it in the suggestions forum.
I dont know if anyone is following me, I never look at my own profile.

well Kris, since your actual name is made public...by yourself...you can't cry foul here

you are easy to look up and see that you ran in an election and a bunch of other stuff...2017 I believe?

the reason I know, is because folks have been looking you up since you are so generous with personal info

but I do believe I am also on your ignore list

oh...and you can also make your profile private...right

but then someone might miss who you are.....such a quandary

Yeah, maybe some kind soul who is not on his ignore list could let him know he can make his profile private.

Anybody? Just as a kindness to him?

Perhaps I should not have mentioned that I can say anything I want about people who have me on ignore and they won't know. It seems people have taken off running with it. :unsure:
 
Wow. Just checked the ignored messages.

Gotta say, I’ve gotten less hate from atheists on Facebook. Congratulations to those of you “Christians” who have made me feel thoroughly unwelcome on this site. And know this: you won!

I’ll say my goodbyes to the few of you who have been nice and then delete my account. You won’t have to put up with me much longer.

I have no idea what I ever did to you or why you hate me. I hope that with God’s help you find whatever peace is lacking in your life.

And I’m sorry that I expected to be treated as a brother in Christ. I won’t make that mistake again. Once I tell a few people I’m leaving, I’ll delete my account. I’m sorry my presence here was so detestable to you. God bless.

oh I don't hate you and nice to see I am not blocked even though you said you were going to block me after only 1 post because I had the nerve to disagree on your views of Israel

gee you know I thought you hated me! but hate is a strong word for Christians, don't you think? we should hate sin but certainly not people

anyway, you have not disappointed and this is only the 2nd post I have made to you. surely you must have me mixed up with someone who just really is upset with you. that would not be me. I found your op here funny

what you call hate, most folks here call a different view

perhaps you are not cut out to exchange views, but prefer when everyone just admits you are right and hopes for the best

I think maybe buy yourself some cotton candy...that nice big fluffy pink stuff that you don't even have to chew

If this dude couldn’t take a little disagreement here, how the heck could he EVER expect to survive congress should he have won!?

I don't recall what someone said he was running for, but the vitriol is really out of place anywhere
