Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
Rom 12:3
I am humbled by this because almost everyone has better insights than me.
Often if the Lord brings something to my heart and I see something new I get
excited and I just want to share it, like a little child with a new toy.
When a massive door opens, I stagger back and go wow.
I think we are living in an age of wow.
My biggest wow is carrying the pains in my heart inflicted by others and saying
praise the Lord that I am privileged to carry others sins as part of walking with
Christ. Paul went so far as to say we perfect Christs work in doing this.
Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.
Col 1:24
Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
2 Cor 7:1
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
James 1:12
And if sin is in the camp, what should we do as James encourages us
Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
James 4:8-10
Amen, the Lord will lift us up, glory, what a King.
