Hey everyone, I want this forum post to be about tips for earning for heaven. If you have any tips on storing up treasures for heaven, please share. I want this place to be a place where we help each other earn for heaven. Remember, God is infinite and we are one body. If I have more, you'll have more. Let me begin with a transcript of a video I made on YouTube to share some tips about earning for heaven. I would post the video, but you can't promote YouTube channels on here. Maybe the mods will let me do this. Just leave a profile message or direct message me if you want the original YouTube video. Here is the transcript:

So, the first thing to know is how to earn for heaven. How do you earn for heaven? What do you have to do? From reading what the saints have written, from listening to near death experience testimonies on YouTube and from my own personal experience, I can say for sure that love is how you earn for heaven. By the measure of your love is the measure of your reward.

So then, what is love? I would say love is an effort, a push and a concept. Whenever you wash the dishes even when you don't want to, that's love. When you give a juicy hamburger that you really want to eat to someone who needs it, that's love. When you rejoice that you've been given another day even though all you want to do is die, that's love.

The next thing you do is God's will. Think about it. God knows what's best, he knows how to show the most love, he knows what's needed right now. Also, this is how important it is to do God's will. In the book of Matthew, it's written: Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord will enter into the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. So you won't get into heaven unless you do God's will. Now, I know in the book of Romans and other places of the Bible it's stated that if you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord, you will be saved. But, we can't disregard what the apostle Matthew said. So the best thing to do is both. Not only do God's will, but confess that Jesus is Lord. Be like the wise virgins that brought extra oil with their lamps. Also, if you want the verse and chapter of the quotes I'm saying, just do a Google search of not everyone who says Lord, Lord Bible, and it should come up. You can do that with any Bible verse.

So, the next thing that needs to be addressed is how to discern God's will. Well, I have two methods that have sort of worked for me but one worked for me in the past: the first one is to spend time with God and the other is called Blind man's vision. Blind man vision is the one that worked in the past. I'll get into the first method first. Think about it. If you spend time with someone, you get to know them and if you get to know them, you know what they want you to do. I've been doing this for about two months and I think God just wants me to spend time with him though I'm not 100 percent sure, but even if you don't discern God's will with this method I highly recommend it as your deeds will be multiplied, or in other words the reward for doing a good deed will be multiplied. Like say you shared some food with the poor. If you did that without a relationship with God, you might get only one gold coin, but if you did that as a son of God, you may receive 50 gold coins. Some of you may just be a servant of God, a friend of God, a mercenary, but by starting a relationship with God I believe you will multiply your reward by a lot. Your deeds will be more valuable in God's eyes. You will be more valuable in God's eyes.

Now here are some tips for spending time with God. You can ask yourself this question: if God was my friend, how would I spend time with him? Or, you can do double. If God was my friend and savior, how would I spend time with him? Or if you're not there yet and are just a servant of God, you can ask if God was my master, how would I spend time with him? Like for me, the first month and a half I was just playing video games because I discerned if God was my friend I would do something enjoyable with him because isn't that what friends do? Also, you should know that God is one with us. We are the temples of the Holy Spirit. So, he's right there inside of us. Also, a really good way to draw close to God is to put on praise and worship music or Christian music. I know two YouTube channels that are really good. If you want them just leave a profile message or direct message me if you can as I can't share them on this post. It's not allowed.

Now I want to get into what blind man vision is. Basically, it comes from the Bible verse: for judgement I came that the blind may see and those who see shall be blind. So, basically, you want to blind yourself. Now, you're not going to tear your eyes out. What you do is close your eyes and tap your fingers. You can tap on the ground or tap on yourself. By closing your eyes, your blinding yourself and by tapping, no knowledge is going through your head because its distracted by the tapping. You close your eyes and tap then take a break then tap. Close your eyes while taking a break as well. I recommend doing this in 30min intervals 4-5 times a day. If you can't, that's fine. With this method I was able to discern God's will in the past though now it's not as effective. Maybe it will be different for you.

Also, with spending time with God, say you did a few good deeds before having a relationship with God and down the road maybe 5 years later you started establishing a relationship with God. Those few good deeds will still be considered as if you did them after establishing a relationship with God. So even if you did the deeds first and then relationship, the deeds will still be multiplied as if you did them while having a relationship with God. This is my belief. I could be wrong but I have a firm feeling that this is true. In God's generosity and benevolence I believe he would do that, but I would still recommend starting a relationship with God before doing good deeds or God's will. That way if you die nothing will be wasted and who knows? There may be a chance that God doesn't reward you for the deeds done before a relationship.

Now, I want to share a secret. I figured this out after showing a lot of love to God. Whenever you show love, it's the effort, the push, the feeling that's there is what makes it valuable. Let's say God's will was for you to cut off your finger. Well, you obviously don't want to do it. It's going to hurt, there's tension and maybe there's fear that you will be sent to a mental institution. You do it anyway, but the knife was dull and it just nicked your finger. You still showed the love, the effort the push. It's the same as if you really cut off your finger. Let me give you another example: let's say God's will was for you to cut off your finger, but you wanted to do it, it was pleasurable, there was no tension or fear that you would be sent to a mental institution. The feeling was that you wanted to do it and you did it. Not much love was shown here. It's the feeling. That's what makes it valuable. So you can sometimes get away with doing something but not truly doing it but showing the love or effort and it will be the same as if you really did it.

:)

Howdy and welcome to the forum.

It's interesting to think about the treasures of heaven. We're supposed to lay (store) them up, but what treasures will even matter in heaven? Gold? That's what they use for pavement. There's no currency in heaven because there's nothing to buy or sell. The foundation is big precious gems.

It's an important question because we can't start storing treasure until we figure out what WILL be valuable in heaven.

Me, I know what I'll value most when I get there. But that's just me.

I believe you're getting that belief from Paul's verse of salvation is a free gift and not of works. I believe you may have misinterpreted it. When Paul says not of works, he means that Jesus paid the price for our salvation not because of anything we have done but because of his mercy and generosity. It doesn't mean that all you have to do is believe and you don't have to do anything after because works shouldn't be added. Faith without works is dead. I really don't believe that if you believed Jesus died on the cross and you started watching porn or started sending people to hell by killing them, you would get to heaven.

So what do you think we have to do to be saved?

Can you share it with GODS word backing it up?

I know what JESUS said in John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

So what ever your response is, it has to be something that alines with JESUS.

Hey guys, if any of you watch the original video at the end I mention something about how I am the motionless man on the local news. I didn't leave that part out of the transcript to make myself look good. The mods edited it out before allowing this to be posted. So yea it's there.

I'm getting my beliefs from hundreds of passages from Genesis concluding with Revelation. This is a Christian forum, hence Christian Chat, not Mormon, Muslim, 7th Day Adventist, or any other religion.
Faith plus No earning of salvation distinguishes Biblical Christianity from all the other religions of the world.
Which religion do you identify with?

My statement about the Bible being written primarily to the believers who are ALREADY SAVED is why they have worked for The One Who already finished the works necessary for salvation.
He first loved us so we, who happened to place faith in Him, can grow in love and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

This is the book you need to start with guys. The gospel of John, because chapter 20 tells us,

30And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

This one< explains the gospel in a nutshell.

I challenge preachers to do a simple word study on the subject. Read the gospel of John. You already have the theme of the book quoted previously.
In the KJV, (the Traditional Text that is complete), underline every tense of the word Believe (s, ing, d, th). Count the sum of each chapter and tell us how many times it's mentioned.
Then do the same with the phrase "Repent of your sins."

Lettuce has been pretty chill so far. Why you gotta be so combative right outta the gate?

Not EVERYTHING has to be an argument. It's nice to just discuss things sometimes.

I realized that I should have spoken more graciously a little earlier after posting the 1st paragraph #7.
My attitude has been poor at times since I got pneumonia and little sleep.

Sorry to come across so short with you in post #7. I've not been feeling well and I come here to get my mind off of that.

I see your point about sin after believing on Christ. A person who trusts Christ to save them should show gratitude and obedience rather than sin. The problem is that we still have the old sin nature after receiving the gift of salvation. The flesh is still the same and that's where sin is. One thing that occurs though is that we get a new nature, a sinless one that wants God's Word and fellowship.
When a believer feeds the new spirit, they grow closer to the Lord and stronger. When they feed the flesh, the sin nature gets stronger although it's weak.
Paul said, the spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak.
Romans 7
14For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. 14For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. 16If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. 17Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. 16If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. 17Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

That’s fine, but this’ll probably be my last reply post as I want this thread to be filled with tips on earning for heaven, but thanks.

No worries, Suze.

I'm sure @Lynx will be along to tell you himself, but in the context of your post, when Lynx says "cute," what he means is, "Very clever, extremely intelligent answer, good job!" And, he often also thinking, "I wish I would have thought of that myself!"

It is one of his highest compliments, and for your post, very well deserved. :)

I have often wondered this myself.

I wrote a thread asking this years ago, but the only answer people gave was to repeatedly quote the passage about storing up treasures in heaven rather then on earth, because no one really knows until we all get there.

I once heard a sermon from someone who believes there is a hierarchy in the heavenly realm. I know that it doesn't sound right at first, with everyone talking about how everything will be free and equal in heaven. But I don't know.

Here on earth, different people had different amounts of faith they were willing to exert, and it was rewarded (or disciplined) accordingly, such as with Moses and David. Even Jesus had a chosen 3 -- Peter, James, and John -- who, for reasons known only to God, got to see the works of Jesus in much more detail than the other disciples did.

In the sermon I am referencing, the man preaching it believed that the heavenly "credits" we build up here on earth will determine our "access levels" in heaven, much like the military. You have to have reached a certain level to get access to certain things God is doing or revealing.

I have often wondered if God stores up a "heavenly piggy bank" of "credits" for us, and if, in heaven, maybe there are places, events, or areas of knowledge in which you have to have a certain number of credits to gain admission to -- and the amount of credits you have is eternal, as they are the sum of what was built up in this life. They can't be added to, nor can they be subtracted from.

I don't know though.

I could be completely wrong.

The older I get, the more I could see something like this happening though.

If God rewards and deals with people according to the faith they are willing to exert here on earth, how much more so in heaven?

But I'm sure my tiny little pea brain can't even begin to grasp what God has for us (the Bible even says this,) so I'd like to think I'm willing to have every preconceived notion I've ever had completely blown out of the water.
