I think male ballet dancers started that

it has long been my understanding that men do not really see themselves as others do while women cannot castigate their looks enough (generally speaking of course)

People need to understand, just because it's in style doesn't mean it's for you. I saw on Pinterest " They're called skinny jeans, not make you skinny jeans". I don't wear them personally. But I remember when Shania Twain made those cropped tops popular. I saw more baby fat and busted cans of biscuits than I ever have in my life! Know how to dress with style and if you don't know get online and figure it out. I was on stage a lot growing up so there was a different standard. I learned how to dress properly early. I swear some people don't even look in a mirror or turn the light on in their closet. smh

Rofl. That one is pure me. Have you ever seen them walking with those baggy jeans, trying to hold them up with one hand? Reminds me of a baby with a full diaper, half falling off and they have to walk like John Wayne to keep them from hitting the floor.

Exactly, and the biscuits pop halfway out. That's how some people looked. No sense on how to dress themselves.

You're making some judgement calls here sister. You don't know how she dressed before they were married. And you can be modest without being old and frumpy. I don't think the OP indicated he wanted her to wear a flour sack.
Was saying this for the benefit of unmarried men. OP is married.

I already pointed out to him that "if". Let me say that again "IF" that is the way she dressed before they got married, it will be difficult to get her to change her style.

Well I don't disagree that if that was the situation then it would be wrong. My sister was a very stylish dresser and once she married my BIL wanted her to dress like the "holiness" women do. Long hair, long dress,no make-up,no wearing pants. That wasn't who she was before she married him. He tired to push his beliefs on to me. I said "Listen you married my sister,if she wants to take that that's on her. You didn't marry me, so keep your nose and your opinion to yourself." ;) She decided to pick up for herself and they got past that phase. But you are right if that was the case.

hub and I have always loved 'change' - albeit, not change that would make Christ cringe and
break His heart - just use common sense and if u claim be a Christian, His ways of thinking
and doing for His children, don't ever change - for those who know what I mean, then
good-on-you,...:):)

With all due respect, I think Mattyboy was right before he got banned... It is inappropriate and unbiblical if your husband likes your butt being shown off in public. Secondly, I didn't address this question to women. No offence intended.

Here in germany thats normal. My sweety loves it when I wear tights or stuff because he is proud of what he has. Jealousy is a nogo. Be proud of having a beautiful woman
i was thinking when i first saw the OP, that's what some men want -- they want other people to see and envy them. it's not entirely different from driving around in an unnecessarily expensive car or wearing gaudy jewelry & flashing wads of cash. as though, purposefully stirring up covetousness, as a way of engendering something like respect from others.

but that's me looking at it from the outside being hyper-critical; i hadn't thought of it as being proud, like you said.

There shouldn't be any offence taken, whether it was meant for women to answer or not. I'll be honest,I changed my opinion on this when I married. Now,I traveled in ministry so I've always dressed modestly, stylish, but modest. But I certainly felt no man should tell a woman how to dress. Then one day I was at a local pool with my husband and my nephews. In walks this woman and she was built, had it in all the right places. She was dying to show off every inch. She had every man's attention there. I was so focused on her that I didn't look at my husband or what he was doing. I returned my attention to the kids, feeling bad and comparing myself to the young beauty. I mentioned it to my hubby and he looked me dead in the eye and said "I love you,I married you because you are the most wonderful woman I have ever known. Don't ever forget it". And so I honor him in the way I dress. I ask his opinion. Anything I have to show off is for his view when we are alone together and he honors me the same way. That is called love and its an enduring love. I am so blessed. If your wife loves you she will want to honor you and your feelings. I would speak to her, tell why you feel the way you do. If she has any maturity she will see your point. That doesn't mean you get the right to micro manage everything she wears, don't abuse it. But she ought to dress in a way that honors God and you. JMO
