New name for Veterans Day? Trump says he wants to change it

(excerpt)

Trump said on social media that he's pushing to rename Veterans Day and to formally recognize May 8 in the United States as a way to acknowledge Americans' efforts in World Wars I and II.

"We won both Wars, nobody was close to us in terms of strength, bravery, or military brilliance, but we never celebrate anything − That’s because we don’t have leaders anymore, that know how to do so!" he wrote on Truth Social.

So, let me get this right. For ALL THE YEARS we Veterans, and millions of Americans have been celebrating Veterans Day on Nov. 11th, WE REALLY WERE NOT? Seriously, I'm beginning to think Trump is searching for any way he can to leave his personal egomaniac self on EVERYTHING we know/celebrate in this Country.

Bad enough he demanded the Gulf of Mexico be renamed Gulf of America........ And for any and all who ACTUALLY now call the Gulf of Mexico Gulf of America..........

IDIOTS!

It's gonna be a loooooonnnnggggg four years, sigh

Black citizens in America have the full month of February dedicated to their history. Though I suspect they might want to omit that of BLM and the woke movement in future editions.

Recognizing veterans of WW1 and WW2 isn't overreaching. Pivitol times on a global level. Followed by contemporary memorials commemorating all who stood against the cur in both wars is showing respect and empathy for their sacrifices.

I also read about those who claimed Trump changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico is idiotic.


I think it's about time. The waters there lay about and between south,central and north America. Not solely abutting Mexico's shores.

Maybe a better name so to reflect that would be, Gulf of the America's.

Maybe those who call Americans idiots don't know there's more than one America.
Should we call them idiots?

He probably feels guilty everytime he hears that word _ V E T E R A N _ knowing that he evaded the draft claiming to have had bone spurs.

while that was not a good thing to so, a lot of guys made up reasons to get out of being drafted.

Once again the Donald is out of his lane. The president has no authority to unilaterally create a new federal holiday or change one that has already been established through legislation. He's already walking back what he said. He's losing in the courts left and right and he probably knows he'd lose this one too.

Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday in 1863. Other examples include Rutherford B. Hayes creating Presidents Day in 1879, Grover Cleveland establishing Labor Day in 1894, Franklin D. Roosevelt creating Armistice Day in 1938, and Ronald Reagan signing the legislation for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in 1983.

Why isn't he condemning his nations campaign of euthanasia?

The Socialized Medicine program there is a travesty. People are on waiting lists for life saving procedures due to costs. But they can take a suicide pill that costs less than $3.00!

Where's RA's condemnation of that?

Yes. McCain hated President Trump from the time he entered the race as a Democrat turned Republican.
