Does anyone know the difference between a friend and a contact on CC. Not noticed it before but there is an option to accept/request a contact or a friend. Does CC have different levels depending on whether someone is a friend or contact. Can contacts see everything that friends can for example?

just wondered as the more cautious could accept contacts then once they know them better, then accept them as friends etc.
It may solve some issues.

What is this nonsense about being "cautious?" It's not like someone being on your "friends" list gives them the ability to DO anything to you, your account, or your computer.

Some people can be a bit strange and a bit obsessive especially to women who possibly have to be more cautious than men.

Men have been known to register as women on CC for example and have then accessed the ladies only forum, or people might pretend to be younger than they are to mix with the teens. Also for some younger people or vulnerable people they do not always know how to handle unwanted attention or intrusive Pms which can be triggered by a simple act as accepting a friend request.

Unfortunately we live in a world where even on a christian website, you cannot always accept people at face value so it is wise
to be careful when using the Internet.

Surely Jesus wouldnt email back

John 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Anyway, if I offended anyone who takes these things seriously I apollogize being almost 50 years old and others my age and much older grew up in a generation who didnt click things like they do today.

I would have thought the young adults (like those in the teens forums ) would be those who might give these toys a tad more weight then some of the older here ( realizing our youth has grown up on all things cyber).

Virtual verses actual friends

A virtual can be an actual friend , and an actual friend a virtual one as well.

What counts is that a freind is an "actual" (not that they are a virtually acknowledged friend)

A virtual (only) friend will never be there (in other ways) for you when you (actually) need them.

At least no more then just words.

But if your virtuals are all there when you need (and you them) thats great, lucky you (especially if it goes both ways between you) you are blessed. Rejoice in the friendship, not in the abused cyber friend feature (because that matters nothing between actual friends anyway)

I am honesty an shocked anyone takes the invite features seriously

There are so many postings and youtube videos that seem to be right on about the whole freinds walls at facebook, the abuse of the same, the walls of strangers pretending to be freinds, the crocodile tears over giving it any merit, the how to videos on get so many friend invites in a day, friend collectors, people boo hooing over the ridiculous in realition to the same. I wouldnt know personally because I dont have a facebook account I never made one because I didnt trust doing that for some reason.

So to anyone who takes these features seriously I do apologize if I have offended

One thing I knore, regarding this: "John 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you."

Jesus is Lord, the Son of God, etc. But I have often (too often) posponed my "friendship" with him for the sake of another person I tangibly loved, a person I bodily see and touched; because that "friendship" (love or infatuation) was in front of me, not there "and above" as if I was a thing waiting hopefully to be seen, heard, loved or approached.

If anyone asked me more (or much more) than a thing I was receiving or giving, I went away and, as a matter of unfriending -lively and real talking- there are millions of people who think they deserve to be loved, heard, etc. and Heaven (sometimes) takes too long to help people to be noticed, and that made their thoughts to go their own ways, because no one likes to wait, not even any of my dogs; because everyone likes to be hugged.

I am not offended at all SW

And I always say that I receive the thing in good intention never insulting the sender of it but on the contrary I take the time to explain I dont do the cyber friend thing (with anyone) not even with my "actual" friends. And I do that just so that if they are one of those who actually does take them too seriously (as I believe some do) that they might better understand (then) that its nothing personal (or about them). In fact I go through great lengths to make sure no one feels hurt because I have seen on the internet over a period of many years how some people are about this stuff, I mean the value they place on it and their reactions to various things whether it be unfriending or friending alone have put me off and I just dont want to get involved (or even entangled with it) so I just dont partake of it now. There are real problems in the world, none of which involve friends lists. Unless (ofcourse) by all these fun features someone out there (puts on tin foil hat momentarily) is building a shindlers list with your own willing participation. Then and only then maybe someone might regret having one, but who knows? (spooky music begins to play) ... removed the tin foil hat...

So I am not judging the person but the value such toys hold for certain of them, and I am also not personally offended but rather adressing the offenses I have seen come of others who become so thru both their use (and value) they place in such toys, thus my whole hands off deal with them (even as experience has taught me) and why I esteem the use of them lightly.

I am speaking of being offended (in my own conscience) but rather of other people getting offended over my own personal choice not to involve myself (because I do not esteem them as they might). And because some folks will send you an invite (which involves a response, on my part to accept or reject it). I felt it fair and right to explain, so they wouldnt feel hurt (or offended). But maybe I shouldnt bother? Its actually tempting not to be (not to explain myself until asked) but I just didnt want to give offense (and so I explain why). And if you explain yourself you are again suspect so its really a no win situation and best not to put in such efforts.

It just says give none offense, but people get offended in these things, is there a way to turn off receiving friend requests so I can un-bother myself with the one thing without turning off my PM's? If so how can I do this?

That would really help me out thanks

And again sorry if I have offended in anything, and I further apologize for explaining myself and coming off as the one offended because I am definately not offended, I just must be a really bad communicator, but Im not the sharpest tool in the shed in that area of things as well.

Ladies ONLY room: The secret place no man entered.

Ha! Ha! Ha! :)

How are those "friends" lists?

Probably longer than mine. :P

@Desired heaven

I checked what I said and, in case you see it, within months, this wasn´t about you, but about the sky, the place were saints are supposed to see me: "...and Heaven (sometimes) takes too long to help people to be noticed, and that made their thoughts to go their own ways..."

People´s thoughts, not yours.

@ Desired heaven

"...Is there a way to turn off receiving friend requests so I can un-bother myself with the one thing without turning off my PM's?..."

Yes! There is a way. Later on I´ll show you a picture.

I believe a contact is someone whose name will show up as an autofill option when sending cmail (PMs), but are not technically on your friends list. So you will not see their posts on your profile, for example, but may make it easier to frequently message them.

I think there is an option to accept (or not) private messages. Also it's pretty simple to "unfriend" someone. There is no reason to put up with any unwanted attention.

I used to get this message all the time: 3 People un-friended you.........and my reply?

I unfriended more than 60 people recently. They never come online, or pm me, so they went bye bye..

To the OP: don't worry if someone unfriends you. It's their loss. They don't know you that well.

To the others: don't say you don't accept cyber friends. You do. You know you do. It's good to have cyber friends. You MIGHT meet them someday. In real life, AND heaven. I'm glad I deleted my Facebook 3 years ago on my uncle Bills birthday to be exact.

I'm glad to have friends on here that like me for me. If they unfriend me, I don't care. I must've done something to make them mad. Anyway, I don't worry myself to death about it.

Just in case this has slipped anyone (who cares) notice, the thread was just bumped up from a couple of months ago (please note the date) its not too recent. Bumped up by Secularhermit

The post Secularhermit is responding to is from back in April 9 2015. Secularhermit couldnt seem to let it go then, and further sought me out on other threads (in other forums) to grab my attention on it elsewhere. On this one (in particular) he chased me down into the BDB forum and into a thread there (bringing into this particular thead) the following day (April 10th 2015)

See post #59 on this thread here

http://christianchat.com/bible-discussion-forum/111095-paul-ignore-his-teachings-6.html

SecularHermit then takes two posts from this forum (and thread) ties them in together then preceeds to interupt another conversation (on Paul the apostle) on an entirely different forum ( in BDB) and thread (off topic, on Paul).

Lets just fast forward to today, June 2015

The thread had died back in April and was off to the grave yard, but now (as we can see) two months later its resurrected by one person (him) and for one reason only (which we can all see) which is to give everyone here (who probably doesnt care two hoots) a more open record of who is visiting my personal profile page.

My husband even finds this somewhat worrisome (in someones expressed need to do this)

SecularHermit (from as far back as then unto today) visits my page (which he is free to do) is demonstrating his expressed interest in who is visting my page (which he is also free to do) having this particular thread (in mind) to post this information? He could possibly believe it is a sane thing to follow my page and give everyone (here) an update on my most recent visitors (which has not a single thing to do with the cyberpal toys I was speaking of).

I will refrain from calling such behavior of the stalking variety as my husband might because it is often too early, I might call it a bit strange, although I have already called it weird on another thread following after the other (this one sated April 11, 2015) where he is again seeking out my attention

Where I posted to him in Post # 89 because of post # 81 (which shows him posting to me in foreign languages) the day after the last thread

http://christianchat.com/bible-disc...gion-freedom-legitimize-discrimination-5.html

But this is the thread where it all began and he has come back to it once again to further confirm this. I think its important to note this progressive pattern of behavior, because you never know, it always begins somewhere (and easy to miss when you are not looking for it) especially when it does not concern you. But at least (in respects to this) the pattern of behavior goes back a couple of months showing an unhealthy interest in both myself (which reaches after into other threads) and approach towards me in the same even unto now (June 2015) in respects to an unhealthy interest in my visitors (and feeling the need to post them) here.

And I had actually caught this post being brought up agan by accident, but I am glad I fell upon it so as to show me (again) what I thought was nothing and put to rest (but was not) and this simply provided me further confirmation on a much earlier suspicion.

I dont see how recent visitors to my profile page (now) have anything to do with the friend (toys) I was speaking of (then) or what point there is in posting the same here.

Whats ironic is that those (with whom) I communicate with for the most part dont even register as visitors anyway ( if that was even anyones business).

But I dont understand the motive behind posting all those members names here though, what for? To say I see you (to them?) or is it to say I see what is in your profile page (to me)?

Im really not getting it, its public info, its not secret stuff here, so whats the point of kicking up a dead thread with your unhealthy interest in me (or my visitors)?

Unless you might just want me to be aware you are interested in me or what goes on in my page or my visitors? Or maybe you want me to know (or others to know) that you are following along on my profile and keeping track of my recent visitors for some reason unbeknowns to me? Or that you are a little interested in making my visitor page traffic far more visible to those who might not care to know it? I dont know, because if someone had wanted to know they could have just visited my page themselves to see for themselves.

Now I just made the page more private per my husbands own advice given he finds that kind of behavior a little worrisome in a 53 year old man.

I onlly think, what is it that that enters into ones mind (two months after the fact) that directs one to jump on my profile page just to see who my recent visitors are just so one can capture a record of these visitors (in image form) only to post the same (openly) for the entire forum to see?

What is the point of this?

To see how I would respond?

If so I hope I met someones expectations.

I thought this thread was about u friending someone? And to that I say, if you need to talk about this, talk about it with the person who unfriends you.
