Truly shocking.

I watched the news this morning and all I could say was "Oh Jesus"
I couldn't say anything more.

What I found shocking and disturbing was that the news showed the building in flames, brodcasting it.

There were people dying in that building, screaming out in fear.

We saw fire coming out of windows and behind those windows people were burning.

Why on earth show it?

Thank you for your loving concern Miri in this post. Might I pray as well?:

"Gracious God, I pray for the victims of this disaster, Lord, that you would comfort the lives that were spared, and that you would take care of those who perished.

Lord, please bless those who are doing everything they can to help these people, even yet, and also make sure that things run smoothly in repairing this great community.

Please help the victims to have patience and refuge in You, and also help family members to be reunited as this gives opportunity for You to be seen and heard. Lord, I pray that You will ensure that the victims do not come under any illnesses from this disaster, and I also pray that they get enough food and clean water and proper shelter for everyone, as practical concerns.Help the burn victims and those whom will suffer greatly but who have survived. Be with them and heal them showing your mercy and glory. Lord, for those who lost members of family be with them as well, and let Your Saints there be of comfort and service to them by way of Your will in all matters.

Lord, please touch the hearts of the world thru this and show Yourself in the miracles You can be in peoples lives both physically and spiritually. Lord, let us all, who know You, pray with intercessory prayers for the lives and surrounding community. Move people toward donations as well...helping people practically; whatever they can to help rebuild this wonderful base of people.

Lord , only you can make miracles happen and I am asking for many now. Amen.

churches, mosques, and sites in London inundated with donations of
food, clothing, water, toiletries, toys across West London.

Over £250,000 raised so far.

Many people remain missing, London Fire Brigade Commissioner reported they
had reached the higher floors but were not able to conduct searches
spreading out into the flats, as the floors are unsafe at this time. :(

I just can't get my head around it, that people in authority would play with people's lives like this.

Sensationalized ratings............................

Nope, it truely was horrific. Sadly nothing was over sensationalised,
it was the stark truth. :(

The PM has called for a public inquiry as to how this could ever have
happened. Stark truth needs to come out at times.

Miri, Has the government set up an authorized place to send donations to? Most of what we find here are scam sites or organizations.

Government won't set up charity funding.

Hope it's ok to post this. The link refers to several fund raising organisations,
including certain newspaper. The Evening Standard dispossesed fund
seems to be genuine and linked to a genuine organisation.

So much has bern donated now in the way of food, clothes, blankets etc,
that organisations and charities are asking people not to bring any more of
those types of donations and instead to donate money.

There are over 130 families needing rehoming (altogether around 400-500 in the flats many
still missing).

The Council have so far managed to find emergency accommodation for 44 families.
By that they mean bed and breakfasts and local hotel rooms. There are families
with young children, elderly etc.

Others are staying in makeshift halls, churches, centres etc. Some residents have also
taken in families to stay with them.

The Prime Minister says she will ensure all families are rehomed within the local area.
Im not sure about the logistics of that. No Council that I know of has 130 empty homes
just sat around, especially in London which has a housing shortage.

I suspect many will end up spending months in bed and breakfasts and hotel rooms while
accommodation is juggled around.

Its so awful to even think about, but I just saw a news programme which said
firefighters had seen bodies in groups lying in stairwells and corridors and also on
the roof of the flats. That conditions inside are so dire, they are talking of having to
conduct finger tip searches at some point to locate everyone, but have to wait while
the building is shored up.
In the meantime people are desperately contacting hospitals in the area and the police
in the hope their relatives are safe, but fearing the worst.

Its just terrible.

I didn't want to just be a bearer of bad news, so hope people don't
mind, I thought the following psalm was appropriate.

God is still on the throne that's why prayer works. Despite the tragedy,
strangers of different countries and faiths are working together in London.
Centres are full of volunteers from all walks of life ordinary men and women.
Acts of compassion and kindness are bringing people together who would
not normally associate with each other.

Lord bring your love and plans together in this situation, may people's thoughts turn
to you and may people come to understand what is of real value in this tragedy.

Psalm 46:1-11 NLT
[1] God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
[2] So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble
into the sea. [3] Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble
as the waters surge! Interlude

[4] A river brings joy to the city of our God, the sacred home of the Most High.
[5] God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroyed. From the very break of day,
God will protect it. [6] The nations are in chaos, and their kingdoms crumble!
God's voice thunders, and the earth melts! [7] The LORD of Heaven's Armies
is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. Interlude [8] Come, see
the glorious works of the LORD: See how he brings destruction upon the world.

[9] He causes wars to end throughout the earth. He breaks the bow and snaps
the spear; he burns the shields with fire. [10] "Be still, and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world."
[11] The LORD of Heaven's Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress.
Interlude
