Philippians 4 v 13 + 12a I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me.
I worked with a young guy who was raised in an atheist household.
At 20 he was called to faith in Christ.
He started fasting,thinking to cleanse the temple of his former bad boy ways. He started slowly and eventually after nearly a year ,he made it to being able to fast for 20 days.
He prayed,meditated,sold his TV, had a very basic cell plan because he needed to work.
His mantra was that very verse in the OP.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Trouble at work hed sometimes bf heard saying the verse softly to himself.
One day, during a shorter fast,though he'd already reached the 20 day mark, he bought a flying squirrel glider suit.
Put it on,jump from a high place, the rind catches the arm wings,and you fly.
He packed it up and went to visit his family who had retired to Colorado.
One day,during another short fast, his family reporting he was repeating that verse intermittently during his visit,he donned the squirrel suit. He went to a nearby outcropping,climbed a pretty good height, repeated the verse out loud,really loud,according to his sister who recorded the whole thing, and jumped.
He was in a body cast for nearly a year.
Sister deleted the footage after showing it to him in hospital.
He remained faithful.
Though he has a permanent limp.
Allegory,metaphor, simile,parables.
I see understanding the presence of those writing styles as important to remember too when reading scripture.
