What are these spirit things that are inside of us?

Some teach they are little seeds waiting for the return of Christ and others teach they are full grown all over the cells of our bodies. In the Scriptures we see they are referred to as spirit, holy spirit, comforter, and Christ in us. And that kind a makes me wonder whatever these spirit things are, they do seem to be tied close to the Christ.

I was taught they are what God is... only with a small "s" because they are part of what He is. Therefore, we can say "greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world." So what are these holy things that are able to give us everlasting life?

Also a lot is said about people who had these things or were filled with them or were able to talk by them, such as speaking by the spirit. Well, then who was speaking? The human or these things? I was taught God or Christ was showing me something when I walk by the spirit. Maybe it's the spirit showing me something when I walk by the spirit.

In Romans 8:4, it's suggesting we walk after or by this spirit. In Romans 8:9, it calls this spirit the spirit of Christ. In Romans 8:11, it calls this spirit the spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead and that it dwells in us.

In 1 Corinthians 3:16, it calls it the spirit of God that dwells in us. In Galatians 4:6, it's called the spirit of his son. And in Galatians 5:16, it talks about walking in this spirit.

Very few Christians know who they are in the spirit because most of us have been taught by our religious leaders that we are sinners by nature. And in my view that is just the opposite of what the Scriptures teach.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Hello Peterlag, perhaps I am misunderstanding your meaning and/or intent, but I can understand why our "religious leaders" teach what they do about our fallen nature, as there seems to be some pretty solid Biblical ground for doing so. For instance:

Psalm 51
5 Surely I was sinful at birth,
sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
Romans 3
9 Both Jews and Greeks are all under sin;
10 as it is written,
“THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE;
11 THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS,
THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD;
12 ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS;
THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD,
THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE.”
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Ephesians 2
1 You were dead in your trespasses and sins,
2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.
3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were ~by nature~ children of wrath, even as the rest.

For those of us who God has regenerated and made alive spiritually .. e.g. Ezekiel 36:26-27; John 3:3; Ephesians 2:4-5, we are commanded to set aside the old man/old self and put on the new man/new self, so in a very real sense, God has given us a new nature "spiritually", but all of us Christians were "by nature, children of wrath", as the Apostle makes clear for us, yes :unsure:

~Deut

Ephesians 4
22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;
23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds;
24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

I write some say this and other say something else. And yet you twist it into saying that I'm saying these things. That's called deception.

I did not read any further than what you wrote about Jews and Greeks because I'm neither of those two groups. Yeah there is none righteous, not even one. But I'm not one of those Jews or Greeks. I'm Christian and very righteous in Christ.

Too bad you did not read the whole post because @Deuteronomy did acknowledge "those of us who God has regenerated ... are commanded to set aside the old man/old self and put on the new man/new self". He also pointed out that "God has given us a new nature "spiritually" ", and that "all of us Christians were (past tense) "by nature, children of wrath" ".

But you ignored that part of the post because you stumbled at a few words which aptly describe the former state of the born again believer.

Hello again Peterlag, the two groups that the Apostle mentions in v9 includes ~every~ human being who has ever lived (well, except for the One, of course, as He was a Jew, but never a sinner).

So that makes you Nephilim perhaps :unsure::)

When a 1st Century Jew (like the Apostle Paul) said, "Jews and Greeks", what He actually meant was, "Jews and non-Jews", because that's how Jews saw the world back then (as us and them). The NIV says, "both Jews and Gentiles", which is a contemporary paraphrase of the Greek that gets to the heart of Paul's meaning as well.

Finally, when Paul says, "by nature", he means how we were born, the natural state that all men and women are in until they come to saving faith in Christ Jesus (even those of us who were both loved by Him and chosen to be His own, from everlasting .. e.g. Jeremiah 31:3; Ephesians 1:4-6).

God bless you!

Not Jew and not Greek but belonging to Christ...

Ephesians 4:24
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Therefore, I am redeemed from the law which is why it says in 1 Timothy 1:9, that the law is not made for a righteous man. And so I am totally righteous due to the fact that my spirit is His workmanship. And this is also why it is written in 2 Corinthians 5:21, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

The point is Deuteronomy in his Post #3 stated what you now claim you agree with.

But because you did not read any further than what [Deuteronomy] wrote about Jews and Greeks, you disregarded what Deuteronomy stated ... that which you now claim to "agree with everything ... written above".

How can anyone have meaningful dialogue with you if you do not read what is submitted?

Do you want me (or anyone else here at CC) to read what you submit in your posts up to a certain point and then reply to you:

"I did not read any further than what you wrote about [....................................] because [....................................]"

Is that how you want us to treat you?

I love reading Scripture and then sharing with other believers here ... and having others admonish me if I do not understand correctly, or share even deeper meaning of a passage because they have studied further, or just glorify God together for His abundant blessing in giving us His Word to study.

Can you tell us what the new covenant is?
Hebrews 8:6-8
But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

God said He would make an everlasting covenant with Israel and with Judah, and He would never be the one who would break the promises He made to them. He made it known to Israel and Judah there would be a new and better covenant that would be coming. This covenant God set up with Israel and Judah is called an everlasting covenant because it's God’s sworn promise, made binding by an oath that deals with the Paradise administration that will not have an ending. God’s sworn oath that was recognized by Israel and Judah created a relationship between God and them that was regulated by the terms of the covenant.

It will be very shocking news to the unbelievers when they find out God’s sworn oath is in position and operational whether or not anyone believes it. As we recognize God’s oath, the new covenant, His promise that He made, it creates a covenant relationship between Him and us. It's God who has made the covenant and sworn the oath by giving His Word. The Old Testament was to the end of bringing His Son Jesus Christ, the redeemer into the world to make available God’s dream. God’s desire for people was that we would be His habitation, a collective body of individuals in whom He would dwell.

Hebrews 8:9-13, 9:1-2
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, said the Lord.

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

I get a lot of messages here and when a point or two makes no sense is when I stop reading unless it's short. If 5 or 7 long winded points are being made and the first 1 or 2 makes no sense to me is when I move on to the next 20 or so messages with the 1 hour I have before going to work.

And how does that truth square with 1 Timothy 1:9 where God tells us knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient.

You get a lot of messages because you start a lot of new threads.

And before people reply to one thread (or while people are replying to one thread), you begin a new thread.

If you would sit back and let each thread develop before you start a new thread, you would save yourself a lot of time and, possibly, enjoy fellowship with your brothers and sisters here.

Again ... you make your bed and you find it difficult to lay in it.

The believers here are not going anywhere (well some of them do) ... but for the most part, some have been here for quite a while. I joined this site back in 2016 and things get busy for me so I am unable to spend as much time here. Just the ebb and flow of life.

But I think if you just consider how much time you have and what Scripture you want to discuss and what you want out of it and what you want others to get out of it, you might be able to spend more time trying to understand what it is that your fellow believers are trying to say. Also, it take a little more time in an online forum to get the point across ... that's just the way it goes. It's a little more difficult than discussing in person.

I'm a righteous man which is why the law does not apply to me. But now in the new covenant, we are not just covered up, but we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ, who entered into the holy of holies, the glorious presence of God’s heart once and for all. Jesus Christ in being the ultimate sacrificial lamb had only to fulfill God’s specifications for the Passover.

The High Priest was the head of the priesthood, functioning as the head of the Temple, and the official representative between God and Israel. To carry out such a responsibility he was forbidden any impure contact that might defile him. Only he could enter once a year in the innermost part of the sanctuary of the Temple, known as the holy of holies where the sacred Ark of the Covenant was kept, to proclaim divine revelations, having the exclusive privilege of consulting God directly. Appeal to him could be made in any matter because he exercised supreme authority over the worship and the Temple, as the mediator between God and Israel.

Jesus Christ is the perfect High Priest, who took upon himself the sins of the entire world, and is the mediator of the new covenant between God and us. The Temple was a temporary place where one would go for divine blessing in building form, but now it is in Christ, who is a permanent place, where one needs to go for divine blessing because of the new covenant God has with Christ.

In the new covenant, we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ, who entered into heaven itself to appear in the holy of holies, the sacred chamber of the heart of God’s glorious presence for us. Jesus Christ is the promised seed and faithful High Priest, who fulfilled all the law, and is set between God and us—because he is connected to both sides, and thereby he is able to work with God and with us. My mind boggles over God’s heart of love, His compassion, and the tenderness to have Jesus Christ, who is the greatest food of all time, the bread of life, to establish a true and vital spiritual relationship between God and us.
