The harder they push for the shutting down of businesses and keeping people at home, the more lives they may save, but at the cost of the US economy, which will also have a ripple effect worldwide. Our fight or flight reaction kicks in but unfortunately without the facts staying to fight against a tidal wave will probably end in death. Or to flee from a toxic chemical explosion according to which direction the wind is blowing, could be you fleeing directly into its path.

Improper training and crisis protocols leads to these type of knee jerk reactions. Act off of instinct and emotions. A logical response takes training, and event procedures provides us with a guideline how every situation should be handled on a basic level so that everyone is equipped with the same mindset. A nuclear reactor explosion like Chernobyl calls for a whole different response that the Russians wasn't prepared for. It ended with probably millions of deaths as the radiation clouds blew into Europe.

We are one election away from a communist leadership.

Yeah the buck stops with the President, he makes the final decisions, he did not have to do anything... he could have let the chips fall where they may.
 
Let's use Italy and influenza to see how bad this is. During the 2016/2017 flu season the International Journal of Infectious Diseases (IJID) estimates that almost 25,000 Italians died from the flu. Right now Italy's death toll from Covid-19 is estimated to be approaching 10,000....so putting this in perspective, if the current death toll climbs another 150% then it will have reached what experts would regard as a particularily bad flu season.

I do believe the media is sensationalizing this, and that our governments are over reacting....yes there's a big toll on the health care systems of many countries, Covid-19 is hitting at the same time as seasonal flu. As everyone keeps saying, this is an evolving situation, I hope and pray that Donald Trump's reaction of late, saying he wants America up and operating as normal by Easter, I hope and pray he is right and that the worst case scenario is that this ends up being like a bad flu season.

If this virus was like a flu virus it would be comparable, it isn't.

It is scary the toll is taking on our economy. I wonder, will we recover? How many businesses will have to permanently shut down. How many whose retirement savings and security has been wiped out? How many lives may be threatened because of economical devastation. What will happen if many lose their homes. I may lose mine.


HOWEVER.. we have to be good stewards of the vulnerable. What do we do, just let the shoes drop where they may.? What about the impact this would have on the hospitals? It is a scales thing right? It is a tough situation for ALL, either way.

No matter what, God is in control! I take so much comfort in this truth!!!

I hope you all are well in all ways. I know it is challenging in all ways.


There is something we can do besides pray and social distance. We can all give blood. Red cross is asking us to help.

A reasonable response ... the recklessness view of some is baffling and not good.
Especially since is not even based upon sound knowledge and facts.

This virus supposedly came here on a cruise ship? So you're telling me that people from EVERY country, EVERY town and city, EVERY United States states, were on that cruise ship?? I think not..

It is like it, don't just make blanket statements as if they're fact and not provide anything to substantiate your POV, that's what Trump's detractors say he and his supporters do. Here's an article with some facts, there are many similarities...the difference is that Covid-19 does not as yet seem to be as deadly as the flu, particularily for infants....influenza is incredibly lethal with new borns but Covid-19 is not and scientists are trying to understand why. The biggest difference is that flu strains are better known.

where we live, the semi-over-reaction-panic-mode is almost completely gone - people are walking and talking
and buying about as usual - yes, there will always be the extreme panickers, whom the powers that be target,
and this is the vast majority, but in our neighborhood, this is simply no so.
we feel that the 'world-wide' reaction will subside as the 'flu' takes its natural course...

just for statistical comparison, anyone can go to the CDC' and 'compare' the 2009' flu's death toll,
and you will see that it was a lot worse that what we are being FED Today...

and so; may we all be brave and secure enough to ask ourselves in our Faith,
'are we going to listen to the prince of the power of the air',
or to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ for our comfort and answers???
