even tough wet dreaming is a natural thing that happen to every man i wonder at which age should it cease, does anyone feel embarrassed by it, what is the christian view on this because one will wet dream because of;
1. natural cause
2.thoughts of a girl whom you admired
3.thoughts of acts like watching romantic movies or porn
4.any other inducing act
5.all of the above
 
A friend of mine told me that when you dream, you;re trying to work out problems that you're thinking about constantly. While I do think that kind of thing can just happen out of the blue, what you focus on during the day has a large impact on what you're dreaming about. Keeping your mind on other things during the day will have a large impact on what you're dreaming of. Also, if it still does not stop, then pray that your mind will be protected in your dreams if it causes you to sin while you;re awake.

That's what I did, and I'm fine.
 
I'm glad to see someone brave enough to post about this because I've had guy friends ask me about this and I had no idea what to say. One felt very condemned.

I am wondering in general what can be done about dreams you don't want to have?

I have a long history of nightmares--always ones in which people are trying to kill me--drag me out of my house and crucify me, stabbing or shooting me, etc. I have tried every possible suggestion--given up violent movies and TV (a tough one for me, as I like action movies), reading devotions in the morning and at night (or straight from the Bible), and praying whenever I can (always for a few minutes in the morning and before I go to bed at night if I can't squeeze in any other times during the day), attending various church classes, having people pray for me... but still, the dreams persist.

I often have dreams (had one just a few nights ago) in which I go to someone for help and when they turn around, they look like the zombies from Resident Evil, then lunge at me in order to try start gnawing through my arm, etc.

But the only way I could incorporate "more of seeking God" into my life would be to join a monastery...

So... I'm as lost as anyone else regarding how to stop unwanted or unintended dreams...

I hope there are more replies to this thread because I'm interested in the answers, too.
 
Wow, "The only way that I could incorporate more of seeking God in my life is by joining a monestary". This is not true at all. Go to this site: http://www.churchofgod.net and look at THEIR lives. If your life is not the same, then you can do MANIFOLD more to increase seeking God. How about this concept too, just a suggestion, how about seeking to be OBEDIENT to God in every way. He says he shows himself to those that OBEY Him. There may be something lacking in your life in obedience. And lastly, friendship with the world is hostility towards God, and yet you find it hard to give up something of the world, action movies? Wow, that is a HUGE red flag right there. Give up movies, give up television, and join the Saints in total and abject obedience to God in every area of your life, and I POROMISE you that your bad dreams will stop.

The only friends I have are Christians... and yes, I'm sure I probably have loopholes but I do try to live my life in obedience to God. I have given away cash scholarships for thousands of dollars at a time, given up events, relationships with people, etc., all because I believed that's what God was wanting me to do. I have had meetings with my pastor and mentor in which they told me to calm down and step back a bit... to maybe wait and pray for a longer time before taking some of these actions.

But yes, I try my best to be obedient to what God tells me to do, including being single for 6 years (with no prospective significant other in sight) while my entire family and all but 2 of my friends have gotten married or engaged.

Are you in total obedience to the Lord in every area of your life Personal?

Matthew 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
 
I believe it to be totally impossible to be completely obedient to the lord in every aspect of your life....if you were.... then you would be perfect
 
Exactly, that's why we can rebuke sins and help each other, but judgment and condemnation we don't have the right to do.
 
Oh, and it's not that giving up violent movies was some horrible struggle for me, it was just hard because I pretty much gave up movies all together. I don't watch TV except for educational programs... very rarely watch movies... don't go to parties or bars or anything like that. My life is basically prayer, classes, devotions, ministries, volunteer work, travel, and friends. I also fast and regularly change my schedule (i.e., get up earlier to spend more time with God) when I feel God is leading me to do so.

Not that I'm doing everything perfectly of course, but I think I'm doing what I can.
 
I also wanted to say to anyone out there who is struggling, God will help you. Don't think you have to be perfect because we are all works in progress.

I'm sorry to get a little off topic here, but I had a good friend who went through some very bad things and finally hit rock bottom... I invited her to church with me and she slowly started coming on a regular basis. I went to all the new membership classes with her (so she wouldn't feel alone) and she eventually joined the church.

She told me she had some things she was working on and wasn't feeling very victorious about them and maybe she should stop coming because she didn't want to be seen as a hypocrite or have God "be mad" at her because she wasn't perfect. But she also did not say what she was struggling with. I told her, whatever it is, that's between you and God, and He'll help you through.

A long, long time later, she confessed to me that she had had a drug problem for many years and was ashamed to tell me because she thought I'd look down on her. I told her God understands and will meet you at whatever place you're at in life.

I'm very happy to say, she's been clean for about 4 years now and keeps getting better and better... and even more importantly, now she's beginning to bring her other family members to church as well.

So if you're not obeying God perfectly, know that neither are any of us, and He promises to always be there to help us. Granted, we have to be the ones to make the right decisions, but He's there to point us in the right direction and give us the strength to do so.

And I am by NO means trying to say I am somehow a goody two-shoes or following God better than anyone else. Far from it!! I have made so many mistakes I couldn't possibly list them all here. But, I'm trying my best to do what I feel God is leading me to do, making all the errors, dropping the ball, and having to be corrected by my pastor or someone over me at times, just like anyone else.

My heart is always concerned for the people out there who may be reading these things and may possibly be thinking, "Forget it, I could never be a Christian, I couldn't give up this or that," "God would never forgive me," "I keep trying but failing," etc. and they're afraid to voice their struggles or ask for help because of the fear of criticism or judgment but their hearts are truly sincere.

I just want to tell all of you out there... if God can work with me, He will work with you!! Don't give up, and trust that God can handle ANYTHING you're struggling with, whether it be the topics we're talking about here or anything else. He is eager to listen to you and WANTS you to come to Him for help.

Honestly guys you should have control over your dreams. Wake up in the middle of that nightmare and REBUKE THE DEVIL. Tell him to leave you alone in the name of Jesus and go back to where he belongs. Tell him to leave you and your houseld alone and go right back to sleep. And don't tell me that it's not possible , because in the Bible it is stated that you can do that. You guys need to start picking up your Bibles and practice what you believe. God didn't just give you His word just to look at every once in a while. USE IT.

Honestly,you make it sound so much easier than it is. You don't just wake up from a dream like that.

I am in favor of preparing yourself BEFORE you go to sleep though.
 
As far as I understand these dreams are perfectly normal and natural for humans particularly during puberty and I think satan gets more control over a person through associated condemnation, accusation and guilt for having these types of dreams than what actually happens itself. Dreaming about something is not a sin. If anything it would come under the category of temptation, if that. The male body is designed to be having babies all the time and so the body sometimes needs to get rid of the excess and it does this by sending signals to the brain to arouse the necessary responses in the body. And of course the brain isn't going to be getting a person aroused by dreaming of tool shed or Ferrari so that's why the dreams are what they are.

I would have to agree with Kakashi on this one--I can't wake myself up out of my nightmares because I've tried (who wouldn't try to wake themselves up out of a dream in which their friends and family are being murdered, but I can't wake myself up) and I would imagine it's similar for guys... and yes, this is after reading nighttime devotions, Scriptures, etc. and praying. I've even tried calling family and having them pray with me on the phone before I go to sleep. But it still persists... I've kind of gotten used to it. I realize it's a bit of a different situation... but if I do wake up, I pray... and in the morning before I go to work, I read another devotion or short Bible study and pray.

So, if this is what's it's like for guys at all... I can definitely understand.
 
I can wake myself up from bad dreams or scary dreams, but I doubt that wet dreams are scary... I think I would have a hard time waking myself up from any dream that wasn't truly scary.

You would if you were believing in the word. Yes you can wake up from a dream. What are you talking about? I've had plenty of nightmares that i woke up from and i rebuked satan. So don't even try to telling me that it's not possible.
 
What has happened to us guys? Where is your faith? Where is your strength? Don't you want to fight for anything anymore instead of staying a baby christian? Don't you guys want to raise up a storm against the enemy and put him back in his place? Or do you want him to drive you into taking meds your whole life... or pitter patter around him saying " Oh well i know he's doing this but i don't want to upset him cause i don't want to rise up against him".

What??!!! Are you serious? WHO WANTS TO STAND UP FOR GOD? Cause i'm telling you this. I'm going to stand up for God. AND in HIS word He said that all demons and principalities are subject to me . Meaning that I have control over them. Me and God have control over them , I have the power to tell them to leave me alone in the name of Jesus. They must obey the word. Don't you get that?

Or are you just ocassionally joining church every sunday. Giving out a good hallelujah and then putting yourself in a corner everytime you go home.

Come on now RISE UP! God will leave you behind if you aren't representing His kingdom. Be a PAUL. Be a PETER. Be a RUTH. BE an ESTHER. Dont just sit there and do nothing.


AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE WE SHALL SERVE THE LORD. READ YOUR WORD TAKE IT AND USE IT.
 
I would just like to reiterate that there's a difference between a wet dream and a nightmare. I've known how to wake up from nightmares since I was a kid, even before I was a Christian. But any other kind of dream I can't wake up from because there's no real necessity and my body needs the sleep.
