If God made men to be visual, then why didn't He make all women gorgeous? Doesn't seem fair to some of us women.

Doesn't seem fair to me that I will never be physically attractive. Why aren't all men gorgeous?
One thing I am convinced is true though is the saying ''Beauty is in the eye of the beholder''..not beerholder^.
I have friends who are married and or engaged to women that I find nothing attractive about, but they love them.
So there is someone out there willing to love just about anyone.
I think the big issue I am discovering at least for myself is I want the perfect person for me that being MY idea of perfect and that means I overlook lots of potential great matches.
I'm certain many people do the same thing.

i think that's a lie. but i do think men's brains often work differently than women.
i find that statement about why "some women aren't gorgeous" more about of your perceptions what beauty is. do you think a spider weaving a web is beautiful? i do. there are a bunch of dandelion weeds growing in the neighboring field -- i think they look beautiful, also. i think 'new' barbed wire looks, almost poetically beautiful.
we all have different notions of beauty, anyway. not everyone subscribes to what the world's current ideals are, by the way.
there are so many kinds of beauty, the least of which is found in one's shell.

generally speaking, godly character
unselfishness
honesty without artifice or agenda
curiosity and intellectual prowess
generosity and hospitality of spirit
courage and confidence
every woman has the opportunity to be beautiful--and even the bible talks about the value of character more than external beauty.
Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman without discretion.

I do not drink anymore so for me beauty is in the eye of the beholder. People who hold out for the perfect person will eventually become disillusion and suffer regret when the realization sets in on all the wasted years and missed opportunities. A lot of people fail to see the inner beauty and without that, there is no true outer beauty. Appearances are fleeting and elusive and waiting for scriptural perfection is vanity.

As a woman, with no experience as i man (i hope =P ) what is your basis for this? Or is it just that you don't like it so don't accept it?
To rest of thread. Women are still visual as well. There are traits that are viewed as 'more masculine' that are purely physical and, in reality, have nothing to do with the reflection of the man himself. Taller men with a full head of hair are viewed as stronger, better leaders and more capable than men with balding hair or shorter. So why aren't all men made tall with a full head of hair? Doesn't seem fair to us men.
There are traits then women typically prefer in men, yet not all men have. Non-physical. Is that fair? Threads like this are always so filled with blanket statements about gender and the unfairness their gender experiences. But often the accusations are not as broad as painted. And the tables can easily be turned back on the gender of the OP.
Fact is neither gender can be shoved into these blanket statements or complain about unfairness. Both genders have good and bad things to contend with.
I'm not Gypsy, but let me just remind you of two commericals, Diet Coke ad with construction worker, and Orange Juice ad with Jane Krakowski. It's subtle (or not so subtle) but it's there. Oh, and that weird tv show, Desperate Housewives.
well, if you want empirical evidence, it does exist. i'd rather not post supportive links here due to their content, but suffice it to say that i believe the data supports that women aren't necessarily less visual as a gender, though they do tend to respond to different visual information than what men normally do.
i think it's largely a stereotype that has been used to either try to help women understand men, and also as a means to excuse or justify behavior.
we market very differently to women than we do men. in many cases, women are more visually responsive and decisive than men when it comes to processing and reacting on visual cues. again, the genders are somewhat divided, but not less visual.
finally, it's just my own perception, based largely on myself. i'm probably more visual than the average visual person -- maybe even to the diminished reception of another sense.
Odd...
when a woman wants to explain the concept of "women",
she starts with an analogy of a spider weaving a web.
And they wonder why men are all so nervous.

We all have different tastes and preferences just as much as there are different members of the body of Christ.
We cant all be eyes hands or ears otherwise the body of Christ would be incomplete, lacking and wanting for more.
As God created us each with these inherently different individual traits to be able to serve differently in the body, we also possess different preferences visually as well which can ignite passion, admiration, and part of a desire to unite oneself to another.
Some may enjoy a rising dawn over a setting sun.
One may be refreshed more by seeing the awesome splendor of the wilderness rather than the daintiness of garden flowers.
Or the active power and gracefulness of the ocean more than the rugged calm vastness of the Nevada desert.
Some may like Polar bears while some may think a duckbilled platypus is just the cutest thing just for being slightly out of the ordinary and therefore unique.
Similarly some people are attracted to different qualities in another for their own different reasons
~the look in anothers eyes.
~their smile.
~The way someones face, how their eyes, nose and mouth are shaped and proportioned in relationship to each other is subconsciously attractive in how everything is arranged.
~Perhaps a sly crooked smile when just the right emotion is brought forth.
within that...some people like more rounded features, some more square, some more slim, some more wide etc.
Round eyes thinner eyes, blue eyes, green eyes, hair color, length etc.
Everything usually comes into the equation.
Not just one.
But is also why its more important to get to know a persons character.
Much like the style and looks of a vehicle(outer appearance) may first attract someone to come check it out.
It is the experience which makes it enjoyable.
If their character is attractive, all the little features inside, that can often supersede the package its wrapped in.
Everyone has beauty inputted into them by the Creator.
And God created beauty to behold in all his creation that we may appreciate in all it's differences.
But as some behold his creation attractive in different ways and for different personal reasons, so will people also find others attractive for as many as varied reasons. This needs to be accepted.
Otherwise we would all look the same, and how uncreative of the creator would that be?
