Hey Everyone,

Now, I'm not saying any of us would stage a Secret Match-Making Event to look like a totally innocent-sounding Pie-Baking Contest...

But... Just in case.

I mean, What IF?!

After all, we singles know we need to cover all our bases!

Let's just say -- strictly hypothetically speaking -- that you decide to attend a pie-baking contest that sounds VERY promising (after all, it's boasting at least 25 different kinds of pies!)

So, let's just say that as you're enjoying samplings of those 25 different scrumptious kinds of pies, you start to look around...

And you happen to notice this:

Ok, so it's a few floral-y decorations, no big deal. The women were probably in charge of the decorating team, and women tend to like hearts and flowers. No need for alarm.

However, you also spot a mysterious guest, (whom you're not sure you want to interact with,) and he just happens to be dressed like this:

Well, you know how it is these days -- everyone wants to be a cosplayer, and any event is an occasion to dress up -- no big deal!

But after walking around, you notice a vendor -- with a table -- and all he's selling are things that look like this:

And while you're pretty sure this is all just a coincidence, you've noticed that at the very end of the pie display, there is actually a CAKE, and it looks something like this:

Like the old C+C Music Factory song said -- "Things That Make You Go, Hmm..."

But I'm pretty sure this is all just a coincidence, right?

RIGHT?!

What do YOU think?

What Are Some Subtle Hints That the Pie-Baking Contest You're Attending -- Is Actually a Secret Match-Making Event??!!

I'm going to include a poll with and will do the best I can within its limits -- answers will be multiple choice and visible to everyone to add to the fun!!

Be sure to come back and tell us which answers you chose and why -- along with any horror stories about match making in your own life, or about people you have played match maker for! (HOW DID IT GO?!)

" Dearly beloved
We are gathered here today
To get through this thing called life

Electric word life
It means forever and that's a mighty long time
But I'm here to tell you
There's something else
The after world"

Those lyrics popped into my mind on that one poll response... Lol

I'll have some pie. I probably won't notice what's going on around me. Since there is so much pie available, I'm guessing coffee will be offered by default.

I don't have to be first in line, but I do want to be next in line! 😊

Ugh. Matchmaking.

Less talk. More pie.

I am SOOOOOOO glad my hair started going gray. It was a relief!

I have a face that looks younger than it should. So well-meaning (read: nosy, meddling) old women would keep trying to match me with young ladies. It was always awkward for me and the nice young ladies.

I should have been dying my hair gray all that time... Now, too late, I realize this. But my hair finally did start going gray, and now it no longer happens to me.

Nevermind Cupid right behind you, Lynx...

Just keep eating that pie! 🥧

😎😇😆

No worries. I'm an old gray man now. Nobody will want me.

Please pass the pecan. With or without correct pronunciation.

LoL, this is hilarious

While, I agree with Lynx concerning matchmaking, this party sounds like a hilarious party.

I've never played matchmaker and have had to put my foot down with those trying to play matchmaker with me. I worked with a lady that wanted me to meet her son, another lady wanted me to meet her brother, another lady wanted me to meet her husband's best friend, and so on and so forth. I finally perfected my Danny Trejo looking scowl and that put a stop to it lol.

However, my cooking hasn't been without draw in the relationship world. In my longest relationship, he said that he was eating better than kings. After a while, he said, "No, I'm eating better than CEOs!" He felt that CEOs must be eating better than anyone and if he was doing better than that, he was really living the life lol.
Believe it or not, that's the only relationship I've been in that I did any cooking and it lasted for years (and we remain on very good terms)...so, there's gotta be something about homecooking and keeping a relationship together lol.

I can even make vinegar taste good! Yes, there is such a thing as vinegar pie and it's tasty.

Oh!.. If there is pecan... I might hang out for a bit! 😀

Note to Self: Men will COMPLETELY IGNORE the GIANT WEDDING CAKE at the end of the table -- as long as the table contains at least one pecan pie...

I'd prefer buttermilk pie, but I also want to see if seoul can say pecan correctly these days. :geek:

I DO say it the correct way!!!

For a Yankee.

Yes Virginia, there is a vinegar pie. And yes it IS good. Not as good as buttermilk pie, but then nothing is as good as buttermilk pie so we can overlook that.

A plate of german potato salad and a slice of vinegar pie... A diabetic's worst nightmare, but it sure is delicious.

I have to keep plenty of buttermilk around. It makes just about everything better...biscuits, flapjacks, cakes, pies, batter for fried things, etc.
I reckon I'll die early

Though they aren't the kind of pies we are talking about, what is everyone's take on whoopie pies? They are one of my favorite desserts. The first time I had whoopie pies was years ago when my dad brought some home from a flea market where a lady was selling Amish baked goods. We thought they were so too tasty. I started making my own whoopie pies and have made several types, such as chocolate, red velvet, carrot cake, gingerbread, and zucchini.

Here are some red velvet whoopie pies that I homemade (the filling is a cream cheese filling). They are delicious and don't they look like a great treat for our party?

You'd have to do some rebranding. That name is just too, too blatant for an undercover matchmaking.

Now here's a crazy idea. Get a bunch of novelty socks with various crazy prints or patterns. Mix them all up and give each attendee one sock. Make random matches by matching socks

Wait, we gotta play games now? Forget it. Too much like a bridal or baby shower. Too many alarm bells set off there. This is supposed to be a SECRET matchmaking thing.

Seoul 🤣 all the suggestions are screaming wedding. the men may think it is a pre-wedding cake testing disguised in pie competition. they will eat all the pies and leave.

The Background music should give a hint
The opening statement could also give a hint.
" Gentlemen while you eat, rate the pie and the woman who made the pie" The will be forced to look up at the ladies.

what if the Ladies wear T shirt on which it is written " Be my pie date" 🤣🤣🤣 I would be too embarrassed to wear something like that.
