my situation is unique, not normal.
Same. (started with the intent of saying just that... then began thinking out loud, typing away and 'preaching to myself here') 😌

I ask myself everyday "what is 'normal'?
And everyday I get the same answer: "This is normal!"
For my family, and our unique situations, this is normal. Nothing I can do about it...
EXCEPT make the best of it despite circumstances.
And how do I do that?
I don't, He does!
Well, let me rephrase that:
I do, but it's a choice.
And I'm much better off to make the choice to "let go and let God"
I only get through when I choose to stop looking at the circumstances and look to Jesus.
I ask myself all the time on 'good' days what's the difference between this day and a different day that was 'bad'?
Circumstances haven't haven't changed, in fact some of the situations on this' good' day are as tough if not more so than the ones on the 'bad' days.
So, what made it a good day?
Where and what was my focus on the 'good' days?
Shaking my head at self and wondering why I don't just go ahead and surrender it ALL all day, everyday anyway. Because sooner or later by the end of the day I'm just going to end up on my knees anyways. I much prefer the days of being on my knees with hands raised (or at least heart raised) in praise 😁
than days of being on my knees at the end of my rope 😭 because I tried doing it my way.

Bacon

But yea we don't always get our own way and we can't always do what we want.
I was thinking maybe it's better to be a fool for Christ than wise in our own estimation.

a steak dinner. i had a big drum practice & didn't eat yet. my wife will be done with her chores soon & we'll dine at the rain dancer steak parlor in perth.

This reminds me that my local steakhouse, that has always been there since before I was born ...has closed down :-(

It was called Tony's. I never had the steak I'd always have the lamb shanks...and the bannoffee pie.

haven't heard of bannoffee pie! interesting it sounds. the raindancer opened in 1980.

Banoffee pie is banana and toffee pie kinda like a cheesecake
It's really delish.

I will have to look up the raindancer. You name-drop a few restaurants, so you probably be a good candidate to be a travelling gourmand, bon vivant type. Like a cross between Anthony Bourdain and Michelin star chefs.

I come from a long line of chefs apparently though it's my Uncles who are the culinary stars, and my Aunties are the ones at home doing all the prep and cooking.

Its fun to broaden your palate and try various cuisines, for the flavours. But you don't always need to go to a high-end restaurant to do so.

When I went to Perth (years ago) I don't remember much about the food, as was staying with my friend's sister and her husband and we didn't eat out much. But I do remember going to Margaret River, and everyone else in our group were tasting wines etc, but we (friend and I) didn't go along with them we went walkabout instead.

I'm really not a wine person. I grew up in wine country but it was mostly Dally 'plonk' which has moved on now. So I'm not fussed about wine. I'd rather have fresh grapes. The harvest at home was good this year.

my exercise session. going to work at bench pressing & tricep presses. then it's to the raindancer steakhouse for a big fat filet mignon steak, potatoes & asparagus!!! yahoooo!!!!! i"m so happy right now because I'm very close to securing a huge antique deal with a new customer!!!!!!!!

What am I gonna do today, since friend called in sick. Was planning to go to Saturday market with her.
I could go with sis, don't really want to go alone.

Otherwise, I really need to learn how to parallel park, but lucky I haven't had to do it much. Oh and when reversing out the driveway, my dad and sis kept telling me to turn the wheel left, but they were meaning THEIR left, not MY left, so of course I got it wrong. D'oh!

Sounds delicious. Would love some good lamb shanks or chops and would love to try the pie I've never had that one before.

Could probably find a recipe online?
I know I went on about meat pies, but the bannoffee is one of the fruit ones that I like.

Lamb shanks braised/stewed with tomato, herbs, maybe red wine, mashed potato, and greens is a lovely meal. I'm hungry now.
Happy easter everyone!

I was in Costco once and looked down and found a pack of lamb chops marked $5.00 and some change can't remember exact amount but CHEAP so I snagged the pack of chops and went home and found a recipe and made them. They were delicious and I was so excited about my thrifty find. It was such good eating that day.

Nice.
I like cutlets as they are smaller than chops but still good eating.
Do you have the famous COSTCO rotisserie chicken as well? Very cheap for a roasted chicken, fresh, hot and juicy. I think there is a limit on the number you can buy though.

Thinking if my phone is trying to roast me again... My phone made a photo montage of my dog and I, and named it; Best friends and monsters.. And this is the second time.
And aren't dogs usually the best friend ones, sooo... does that make me the monster? :cautious::LOL:

cars, toyota aqua cos of the word aqueous

Why so many Toyota Aquas in Auckland?? At first I thought finally a car that can also swim/drive on water!
Like a hydro-car.
Well they are not, they are just hybrids, a smaller version of the Prius. Also they make that annoying squeaky mouse noise with their engines, and are hard to reverse, plus they feel squashy to ride in.
Insurance for them is expensive cos they get stolen a lot, so even though they are cheap to run and compact, I never thought about buying one.
