Oh. been there, done that
Well, in times of stress it's important to remember to look after yourself.

Don't be a martyr. If you need help, ask for it, and be specific. When I was caring for my mum, I felt like I couldn't leave her alone we were that enmeshed. But I managed to ask for help and found a team to support me so I could take a break or respite. I couldn't do anything for myself for 2 years and was also forgetting things. Tired all the time, drained.

I reached a breaking point and just said Jesus take this from me. I know I had a cross to bear but was crushing me. I was irritable and despondent and there seemed to be no end in sight. So, sometimes we have to let go and let someone else be the helper.

Glad that things are going better for you. I found that massages helped get circulation going..and I recommend cupping. When we are weak He is strong. Try to get out at least an hour or so and take time for you. At least with a massage, you are lying down and don't have to think of anything and someone else can look after you, it's worth it, so I'd try to fit one in when I was feeling run down. Or hot bath with epsom salts, or a foot bath with same.
I'm sorry you went through that. My weakness is from being distraught, burntout. But things are worlds better than they were for the first 2 years. I wish there was someone I could ask for help. There really isn't anyone I know who could help and I begged God for help for a long time, but now it's manageable. Things used to be an absolute nightmare but I learned a lot and things go smoothly now. It's just a lot of things weigh me down now like the constant and I mean constant poor communication. We always misunderstand each other and it's very frustrating. Then there's the fact that I have no friends, no one to talk to. I wish I could explain it all but I really don't want to talk about it. Thank you so much for sharing.

Aw we (CC singles) are your friends, and if you need to chat there's those chat rooms or PMs.
I'm assuming that the poor communication is with the person you care for, not us (or me?)
It just helps to know you are not alone, and God sometimes doesn't take the thorns from our sides, because he has them there for a reason (to stop us becoming too proud)

You and I, my friend, sound like we're in similar situations:
*caregiver to someone with mental health issues
*no help / no one but God to turn to.
*no friends /no one to talk to.
*distraught/burnout

You don't have to explain it or talk about it.
I hear you loud and clear, and I'm pretty sure I can say 'I know what you're going through/how you feel'
One of my pet peeves is when people say they know and understand, but have never been through it.
I've been through a lot of :poop: on this journey, so feel pretty sure I can say "I know/understand" and actually mean it.

cars, toyota aqua cos of the word aqueous

Why so many Toyota Aquas in Auckland?? At first I thought finally a car that can also swim/drive on water!
Like a hydro-car.
Well they are not, they are just hybrids, a smaller version of the Prius. Also they make that annoying squeaky mouse noise with their engines, and are hard to reverse, plus they feel squashy to ride in.
Insurance for them is expensive cos they get stolen a lot, so even though they are cheap to run and compact, I never thought about buying one.
I drive a 27 year old Mercedes, it gulps down gas like my uncle’s drinking white lightning, but that’s all it costs.

I saw these duck trucks that go on water AND land. That's what I thought an Aqua should be!

Hmm, now we have a picture of your dog (in your avatar). :D
Oh no.. I thought of saving myself now by posting a pic of my dog here, but I cannot seem to find that specific pic anywhere anymore.
Hmm, I need to take her to a car ride so I can recreare that pic again..

Wow, we’re way below $4 here in Galveston.
$2.16 per liter is approximately $8.17 per gallon (USD), based on the standard conversion of one liter
equaling roughly 0.264172 gallons, or multiplying the liter price by 3.78541 to get the gallon price. :censored:

Thank you. For some reason I didn't see this until now. The poor communication is due to a combination of things including my less than perfect hearing, but it's also due to mental health issues. One reason I don't want to talk about it is because I feel very bad and guilty about saying anything negative about this person. I don't want to say anything negative about them.

Well, as long as it's not Catholic guilt...I didn't have that growing up, and was often badmouthed by my own family, so I didn't really learn what I wasn't supposed to say.

I don't have perfect vision and sometimes can't see things that other people can. Or I am too short compared to tall people. God forgives me though when other people don't. Cos He knows what I can and can't do.

My sis actually gave me a book called We can do hard things.
I'm supposing it's all the things we (women) can do without a man's help. And celebrate that what we(women) can do is valuable.
But I didn't know it was written by lesbians until I googled it because..books by lesbians aren't obvious until you notice, um all the contributors are women and it's talking about women as if men don't exist. lol

Am thinking of...
Food, specifically yum cha, which I will be going to in one hour.

God isn't my belly though, though I did grow up in a family where food is the most important thing in the world. If we didn't eat, we would starve.

I am thinking it's good to be single and free, rather than bound and captive to someone else.

I know we meant to be free in Christ, but I'm not really understanding the longing to be bound. For females, it often means a life of drudgery and being a maid to a man.

I don't know why I think this way, because that is 'wrong' according to...?? The patriarchy? But then the patriarchy kept harems, so...? Maybe it's just economics. We live in a different world now that women have rights. Hard won rights. Why would women want to lose their freedom?

Why would a woman want to stay in an abusive or dangerous relationship? A good man is rare and hard to find. It would be even harder to find than a woman who is far above rubies. Why can't we women tell our side of the story?

I had a man say to me 'have you ever been tied up' and it was not a good thing. I just told him I escaped out of jail.

Well? HAVE you ever been tied up? Don't leave us hanging here...
