its ok im sorry i snapped at you
Don't be sorry. People have bad days. I know what carrying onto anger is like, trust me. It sounds like you have some held in anger there. I promise you though, if you give god a chance to take thrat anger, he will. I can promise you that much.

I understand how you feel. And trust me, I really do. I was raised in a Christian home, and wanted absoloutly nothing to do with God. I ran as far away from him as possible. He literally saved my life. I'm not trying to produce some sob story, I'm just trying my best to contain who He is in words, which is impossible.

dont you dare talk to me about exerience in true love mate i had it once and i had to give it up because of your religion. i know how much it hurts

You say this as though its our fault. You yourself said your atheist so why does it matter, "our religion"? You made that personal choice yourself, we didn't make it for you, regardless of our relationship with God. No offense.

Godd luck and God bless

Don't throw the blame on all Christians though. It isn't my fault that some Christians have some really twisted ideas.

This is what really bothers me about twisted views on Christianity. I'm not meaning you, I am meaning the church people that you were talking about. They think they are doing so much good for the kingdom of God, but they are driving people away, driving them away not from just their church, but from Christianity itself. People forget that we are examples. I would like to apologize on behalf of those people, not that an apology will make it better, but I would like you to know that not all Christians are like that.

Oh well I'm sorry to hear that. Most Christians aren't like that. The church that I used to go to, would welcome anyone to show them the ways of Christ, not condemn them for their beliefs (or lack) or sexual orientation.

Just so you know, not that you will care, but I am praying for you.

We are all guilty of sin. It is a sin for two dudes to do it, but it's also a sin for two unmarried people of the opposite sex to do it. As far as God's concerned, all sin is equally sinfull. It's not like lying's a 2 on the sin scale, and murder's a 10. On a scale of 1-10, every sin is an equal 11. Now, being gay isn't exactly the same as homosexuality. Homosexuality is the sin itself. Being gay is just the temptation to comit the sin. Being straight, I'm tempted to sin with girls, but I don't. If a homosexual refrained from their temptations, they would not be sinning.

I agree man.

We're supposed to hate sin, but not the sinners. Jesus didn't say to the prostitute, "You're a filthy ho and I hate you." He protected her from religious theocrats who wanted to murder her for her sin. He picked her up, dusted her off and told her, "Go and sin no more."

A great number of people struggle with homosexuality, just as we all struggle with our sins. For some of them, their same-sex attraction is a defining feature in their self-image. It is easy to say "That's wrong, don't do it," but far more difficult to walk beside someone and help them conquer their sin. Yet, that is what we need to do. Not just for those with same-sex attraction, but for everyone.

I never said that. Now you are taking my words and twisting them. A common occurance on this site. I said that love is a choice. I never said you instantly love someone. You still get to know them, and then chooce to love them for who they are. The reason so many marriages fall apart and divorce ocurs is because the love feeling runs out. They haven't made the choice to love each other no matter what. Sure feelings come with love, but feelings do run out. Love is a choice, and with love comes sacrifice.

Cooome on, preach it brother!!

Ok, wow... A lot of posts in the past day. here are a few issues I'd like to address-

"So you can just walk up to someone and say 'I'm going to love you.'"

YES. I can't tell you what the end result will be, because you can't have a love RELATIONSHIP that's only one-sided, but you can love regardless of whether the other person loves back or not ~_o

And about the "Christians who have twisted views." From your particular situation, I have NO idea how the circumstance really was. If you want the truth, they were right for making you split up, because Christians are only supposed to marry other Christians, and if they don't, it leads to some serious relationships problems down the road, especially when children are involved.

And one more thing, about love being a choice. I know you probably won't listent o anything biblical, but just today in my English lit book ('bout time it was useful to me), I found a sonnet by Shakespeare. There are actually two, but I forgot the number for the second one... but they convey the same message. Here's the first one.

"Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved."

It's saying that love does not change, and it stays steady, regardless of if the person changes or not. If people had this attitude towards relationships, we'd be far better off ~_o But a little fact- When situations change, emotions change. If love was purely emotional, then any sign of a struggle would break love instantly. This isn't the case =D

I know this, it doesn't mean that the church should threaten to kick the family out of the church, that is twisted, and if you don't see that, you need to get your head checked. We are supposed to be welcoming to non-christians. How are they going to get to know the Lord if no one will tell them. How will someone tell them if everyone has turned them off from Christianity. What the church did obviously turned him off of Chrstianity. I'm not saying that is the only thing, but it was obviously a contributing factor.

I must've missed the part about being kicked out of church... But either way, this guy COULD be exaggerating. I never, EVER listen to a one-sided argument, and since the people of the church aren't here to defend themselves, I will be wary of what he's saying. I'm not saying he's lying, I'm just saying that in conflict, people naturally distort things to favour themselves. Sometimes the distortion is minor and insignificant, and sometimes it's a dramatic change.

For example, in school the other day, two sisters were with each other. The mean one said, "Man, you're such a crybaby" and splashed water in the other's face.... So she started crying. Now, when the mean one told her story, she ONLY mentioned splashing the water, and never claimed to say anything bad. On the other hand, the other sister claimed that a LOT of insulting things were said. Neither story was true, and you have to filter out the fact from the fiction.

So assuming that everything said was truth-

The church was NOT wrong for encouraging a break-up, but they WERE wrong in forcing it through a threat of expulsion.

The church members are NOT wrong if they did not approve of you, but they WERE wrong if they viewed you as... I forgot what you said, something like "a demonic, all-hell-broke-loose antichrist" or w/e. Even if you acted and behaved wrongly, they're wrong for attacking you instead of combating your sin.
