Have you seen Dr. Barry Awe's and Generation2434's videos on youtube pertaining to New Wine?

They have some good evidence the Holy Spirit was poured out on New Wine in Acts 2 (as opposed to the traditional Pentecost at an earlier date).

I'd only like to hear from people who have actually watched their content on the subject.

Hi Radius, I didn't make it very far into the video because the guy talking doesn't seem to know much about farming and my brain was starting to short-circuit listening to him.

"Pentecost" is the Christian name for the event where The Holy Spirit fell, but it happened on a Jewish holiday known as Shavuot, or Feast of Weeks. It celebrated the end of the Spring grain harvest and marked the time that landowners could start bringing their "firstfruits" offering to the temple...... which is why so many Jews from out of town (and out of country!) were present that day to hear Peter's sermon in their native tongues.

The Spring grain harvest doesn't jump around much on the calendar...and it definitely doesn't happen in August. Think May/June. This past year it fell on June 11-13 (the only complete day of it was the 12th). To mark the day, we had the youth group come to our farm and harvest some grain and thresh it out (beat it till the grain came loose from the heads). They like beating stuff . Then we told the story of Ruth and Boaz (which is a Jewish tradition on Shavuot), and fed them whole-grain bread made from Biblical ingredients. Never seen kids enjoy whole-grain bread so much! :giggle:

Anyways...it's clear that "New wine" was available during Pentecost/Shavuot, otherwise nobody would have accused the Apostles of being drunk on it. But it could not have been too awfully "new" because the grape harvest doesn't happen until July/August.

I hope this was helpful.....I didn't see enough of the video to comment on everything that was in it, but I do believe the gentleman has confused the grain harvest with the grape harvest. They do not fall at the same time of year.

Why didn't you simply summarize this talk. Not everyone sits and watches videos.

Edit: Also wanted to add that it's unlikely that Pentecost actually happened on the feast of new wine, because that is not one of the 3 pilgrimmage feasts in Judaism. Shavuot is. And based on the Biblical account it sounds like there were a lot of visitors in Jerusalem that day. So I think the traditional view that Pentecost happened on Shavuot is likely correct.

I also want to note that Pentecost and Shavuot have diverged at this point and are not celebrated on the same day any more.

Honestly I've never heard of him. It sounds like you're looking for are others who know him and are familiar with his videos. If so, I have nothing to contribute. On the other hand, is there one video that best communicates his ideas? I'd be willing to watch it if you could post it.

Right, but notice the clue of the time of year it was. Men there said that the apostles were full of "new wine" (which comes after the wheat harvest).

Sources like the dead sea scrolls have said that the priest consecrates new wine and pours it onto the altar at the 3rd hour for the new wine festival. Note: it is not a feast day, rather it was an observed holiday of sorts. That is why Peter said how can we be drunk, it is but the 3rd hour of the day!

The men accusing him would have gotten it because it was only at that 3rd hour of the day (9am) that the priest would have been pouring the new wine and consecrating it.

They could not drink new wine until the priest has performed that duty.

These clues and many other typologies laid out in their teaching in the videos are giving perhaps new revelation.

The Bible says new revelation will be unsealed in the time of the End. This may be one of them.

Will we hold to tradition claiming Pentecost = Shavuot? Or take the Bible as it's being unsealed and witness new light?

Pentecost just means 50. Pentecost does not have to be on one of the 3 major Jewish feast days. And New Wine may not be one of the 3 pilgrimage Feast days, but it was still observed. I can post a video proving it from a Jew who spoke on this subject if you want, just let me know.

They will challenge your whole (traditional) thinking on that. They address every point. It's best to just watch the first video titled "Shavuot or Pentecost". It's a home run that Pentecost did NOT happen on Shavuot.

The only problem is God's word says in Acts 2 it was Pentecost. New Wine was unknown until the discovery of the Qumran scrolls. If it was an important festival I can't really imagine God getting it confused with Pentecost. And if the Jews knew about it I'm sure they would've known the difference between New Wine and Pentecost. People can explain away all kinds of things; I prefer to trust the Lord.

New Wine is NOT for the Jews--it was observed but wasnt made a feast day unto them. It was hidden from them after the golden calf episode where they broke the wedding proposal from God on Mt. Sinai.

So you aren't going to watch the video I take it. Don't willfully do this to yourself. Trust the Holy Spirit and He will lead you to all truth. Watch it. If you walk away from the first video I linked still not believing it I'd be shocked. Pentecost is NOT Shavuot. And btw, I believe the Septuagint (Greek translation of the Hebrew Scriptures) I believe does mention New Wine as being a banquet.

I have a question for you, are you Barry Awe, or working directly with him? You come across as a propagandist. You're promoting Barry Awe's videos like it's the end of the world if I don't watch them. Sorry if I don't share your enthusiasm. God's word says Pentecost and I have a lot more faith in Him than I'll ever have in Barry Awe. So no, I won't sit through a two-hour video that has nothing to say to me.

lol i dont work for him nor have I ever met or spoken to him. But this material is too good not to share with sleeping brethren.

Please don't mistake my enthusiasm for propaganda. But if don't have enough patience or will to go through the video which is entertaining the way way through, I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles.

But you said the Bible says "Pentecost". That I agree with. It's WHEN Pentecost IS that I want you to discover. Knowing the church was born on that day, and knowing Christ may rapture us 2 days, or 2,000 years to the day, doesn't it pique your interest a little?

I have a hard time believing this. You already told another poster that you wouldn't summarize, he would have to watch the videos. And you're trying to get me to watch videos I don't want to watch. If you really want any of us to discover something new just tell us already and quit playing games. Are you hoping someone will watch the videos so they can explain it to you?

I mean I can summarize all the points, but it's going to be lengthy. HereI even set the video right where he creaks it down.

Never mind then. Honestly, I've lost interest so don't go to any trouble for me.
